Responsible for catapulting Sylvester Stallone into action stardom and turning the name Rambo into a cultural icon since its original theatrical run, First Blood remains a fascinating motion picture with a poignantly moving plot. Looking back, the story, based on the novel of the same name, is more than a typical military actioner, touching on the psychological affects of war and the treatment of veterans after the Vietnam War. The 4K Ultra HD release comes with a gorgeously stunning HDR10 presentation that easily bests previous editions and making it the best the movie has ever looked on any format. The video is accompanied by an excellent DTS-HD MA soundtrack and a nice new set of bonuses. The overall UHD package is Highly Recommended.

Following the deadly events at home, the Abbott family (Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe must now face the terrors of the outside world as they continue their fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path in this terrifyingly suspenseful thriller written and directed by John Krasinski.

Writer and director John Krasinski delivers another exceptionally terrifying creature feature in A Quiet Place Part II, which picks directly where the first film left off. And like its predecessor, this follow-up is another emotional journey that expands on the world he built three years ago, allowing for the characters to grow while also incredibly raising the anxiety-inducing tension, making it that rare sequel that's every bit as good as the first. The sequel breaths a sigh of relief and silence on 4K Ultra HD, outfitted with an excellent Dolby Vision HDR presentation and an awesome, reference-quality Dolby Atmos soundtrack. With a sadly disappointing set of supplements, the overall SteelBook package is nonetheless is Highly Recommended.

The Goonies is an old favorite. It's a fun childhood adventure movie back in the day when kids could actually ride their bikes for miles, stir up some mischief and still be back home in time for dinner. Sure, not a perfect movie but it doesn't try to be - nor should you expect it to be to have fun. It's a genuine 80s kids classic adults can still enjoy. Long overdue for a proper restoration, Warner Brothers delivers The Goonies to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray with an excellent native 4K transfer with HDR10, a new and only slightly improved DTS-HD MA 5.1 mix, and sadly the same stale bonus features. I felt the transfer alone was worth the upgrade, but the lack of new bonus features or a full Atmos/ DTS:X mix may be a sticking point for some. Recommended.

Although feeling frustratingly convoluted and needlessly over-complicated at times, Christopher Nolan's latest sci-fi spectacle Tenet remains a surprisingly satisfying popcorn blockbuster starring John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki and Kenneth Branagh. At its heart, the plot is a relatively traditional espionage action thriller littered with familiar tropes, but in true Nolan form, the story is grounded in perplexingly complex theoretical science that manages to be both its hindrance as well as its point of interest. The sci-fi spy actioner lands on Ultra HD with a spectacularly gorgeous 4K HDR10 presentation, supplying several notable upgrades over its Blu-ray counterpart, but the same, ear-piercing DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack. Porting over the same set of supplements, the overall UHD package is a recommended addition to the library.

Love and Monsters may not be the most original spin on the post-apocalyptic genre, but combined within the framework of a coming to age movie and some really inventive world design work, it's a worthwhile adventure. The cast is great with Dylan O'Brien leading most of the show on his own. The visual effects are solid and the creatures really inventive with fun energy. It's low-key entertainment that plays with a lot of conventions and has a great time doing it. Not the greatest film ever made, but if you've been stuck indoors for a long time it provides some much-needed escapism.
Paramount Pictures delivers Love and Monsters to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray with excellent results for both discs. While the 4K UHD Blu-ray is the superior presentation thanks to Dolby Vision HDR, the 1080p SDR Blu-ray holds its own offering up a strong A/V presence as well. If you're rocking 4K, that's the best way to go, but if you're happy with standard Blu-ray, you should be happy with the results here as well. It's a fun movie well worth checking out. The trailers didn't wow me but I'm glad I gave it a shot. Put a big smile on my face when I needed it most. Recommended.

A straightforward shoot 'em up tale driven by deliberately overt yet nonetheless important sociopolitical concerns, Neil Blomkamp's Elysium is an action-packed, visually thrilling ride. Almost ten years later, the sci-fi actioner remains a fun popcorn piece of entertainment thanks to a strong ensemble cast, amazing visuals and a plot that feels all the more relevant today. Blomkamp's socially-conscious saga crash lands on Ultra HD with an outstanding 4K HDR10 video presentation and a highly-satisfying Dolby Atmos soundtrack, delivering a notable upgrade over its Blu-ray counterpart. With a new set of bonuses for this UHD edition, the overall package is highly recommended.

News Of The World is a wonderful little film and a fantastic addition to the western genre and might be perhaps Tom Hanks' best role in years. It's light-hearted, while at the same time extremely thrilling and poignant about people evolving and journalism. The 4K video presentation and the Dolby Atmos audio track are demo-worthy without being a big-budget action vehicle, and the bonus features, while short, are informative. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

There is only one proper way for watching a Paul W.S. Anderson movie, and that is to set all expectations aside and simply enjoy the mindless, popcorn silliness. Based on the video game series of the same name, Monster Hunter not only demonstrates he has made a career at B-quality escapism, but that he is also decently good at churning out surprisingly entertaining shlock, especially when framing action vehicles for Milla Jovovich. The entertainingly bonkers adaptation teleports to Ultra HD equipped with a monstrously gorgeous 4K HDR10 presentation and thunderously awesome Dolby Atmos soundtrack, offering fans and the curious a notable upgrade over its Blu-ray counterpart. Porting over the same puny set of supplements, the UHD package is nonetheless recommended.

Godzilla 2014 set the big stage for the franchise to follow. We've enjoyed the 70s themed Kong and the big monster mash Godzilla: King of the Monsters and we have Godzilla vs Kong knocking on our doorsteps in just a couple of weeks. Now with this 4K UHD Blu-ray disc, we're finally getting the best home viewing experience possible for Godzilla. With HDR10, the colors and black levels offer notable improvement while the Atmos audio mix is worth the price of admission alone. Sadly no new bonus features were included. This is one worth cranking the volume for. Recommended.

Nobody is a super-fun and action-packed film with some great performances, surprises, that feels like a dark comedic sibling to the John Wick universe. Odenkirk is fantastic. This 4K release looks and sounds amazing with its 2160p UHD transfer with Dolby Vision, along with its impressive Dolby Atmos track. The bonus features are worth watching as well. Highly Recommended!
