Watching "The Lion King" in UHD is like seeing it for the first time. I remember as a boy, I watched "The Lion King" in the theater while visiting my aunt, and it astounded me: every point in my emotional spectrum was hit. When it came out on home video, my siblings and I regularly watched it on VHS while visiting my cousins across town, and we all would sing along, especially to the bouncy tunes of "I Just Can't Wait to be King" and "Hakuna Matata". Then when I was in college, the DVD format took off, and I remember getting goosebumps during the "Be Prepared" musical number. Shortly after I got married, "The Lion King" made its majestic debut in glorious Blu-ray 3D, and I definitely "could feel the love that night", as the video and audio never looked and sounded so clear - and I was surprisingly impressed with how traditional 2D animation looked in 3D with the characters and surrounding environment literally jumping off the screen (Why, oh why did Disney stop releasing Blu-ray 3D in the US?!?!?!).
From the moment I pressed play to watch "The Lion King" in 4K, the color spectrum and the picture clarity simply took my breath away during the opening number "Circle of Life". Warm colors were warmer, dark colors were darker, and bright colors were brighter as every color in the rainbow splashed on the screen. While you won't miss out on anything if you pick up the standard 4K release of "The Lion King", I personally picked up the steelbook edition because of the beloved traditional hand-drawn characters printed all over the case. I only wish the new image of Simba on the standard 4K release was put in the center of the cover instead of the recycled images of Simba and Scar from last year's release.
It is undisputed that "The Lion King" is one of the greatest Disney films, and it is also one of the greatest stories ever told. When you see it in 4K, "The Lion King" gets the royal presentation it most richly deserves.
This set contains all three films from the Wachowski Siblings' The Matrix franchise. In The Matrix, a computer programmer discovers he is the only one able to save mankind from the machines; in The Matrix Reloaded, Neo must protect the Resistance from a rapidly approaching fate; in The Matrix Revolutions, Neo fights to end the war once and for all as the Machines locate the human city of Zion.

I'll get straight to it: the most obvious upgrade in the 4K presentation of this sci-fi classic trilogy is being in the real world and in the Matrix. The green hue of the Matrix is made much more clear and vivid, and as far as story-telling goes, drives the point of "What is the Matrix?" even further. The 4K presentation is nearly perfect. My only complaint - though not enough of a complaint to warrant anything less than a perfect 5-star rating from this user - is that "The Animatrix" isn't included in this 4K set. Other than that, "whoa"! I remember when the original "Matrix" film was simultaneously released on VHS and DVD, and I convinced my dad that it was definitely one of those films we should get on DVD because the picture was twice as good as the VHS. Well, here I am 19 years later telling to get the 4K format of the Matrix trilogy because it's 4x better than Blu-ray!

From VHS to DVD to Blu-ray to 4K, Apollo 13 shines

Whatever home video format "Apollo 13" came out on, it was always the yardstick by which to test the medium's audio and video presentation. Ron Howard and company paid extra special attention to detail in making this film, and every time it gets released on the latest home video format, that effort gets shown more. As someone who owns a 4K projector (Optoma UHD51a) with a Denom 7.1 Dolby Atmos receiver and in-wall speakers, Apollo 13 blew me out into space (haha) and truly delivered the goods. The film was shot on film, making a 4K scan of the original negative an obvious choice, and the HDR highlights the black vacuum of space, not to mention the colors of the Earth, the moon, and the authentic look of the costumes and sets. If you're like me and you bought "Apollo 13" on VHS, DVD, and Blu-ray, go pick up your copy of the 4K release of this classic because you won't be disappointed!

The original "The Incredibles" film may arguably be my favorite Disney • Pixar film, so you can imagine my excitement and worry when it was announced Brad Bird was going to continue the family adventure. The film itself was all around great, but it wasn't worth the wait. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," and it seems that Disney • Pixar and Mr. Bird chose to ignore that age-old saying in making this worthy sequel to its classic predecessor. While the original achieved its greatness from its family team theme and nostalgic homage to classic superheroes, this film seems to reach for greatness by doing the unexpected, plot-wise. But I won't spoil the twists here. If you liked the original, you shouldn't dislike its sequel. The 4K comes from a 2K scan - WHY? WHY IN GOD'S NAME WOULD YOU DO THAT, DISNEY?! - and the upgrade from the standard Blu-ray presentation is in the HDR. If you're like me, and you absolutely cannot stand the fact that movie studios are finishing films in any resolution less than 4K, especially films shot on 4K or greater resolutions, particularly computer animated films that require only a 4K export of the animation rendering, do not think that getting the standard Blu-ray will be "good enough". The HDR and closer resolution difference make up-scaled 4K films worth shelling out the few extra bucks to get the best possible presentation. The Dolby Atmos track is a treat for any audiophile because - surprise - Disney has opted to only put the Dolby Atmos track on the UHD presentation of the film. Another bonus "treat" of the UHD presentation is watching the film as it was originally released with a certain scene that included a lot of flashing lights. While it was in the theaters, there were a lot of complaints that the flashing lights affected photosensitive viewers, and they replaced that effect with another one while still in theaters. Now you can see the film as it was originally intended by Mr. Bird and company. If you're a some-what purist like me, then you'll appreciate that. I definitely recommend adding this film to your collection, and if you don't already own the original film, pick that up as well!

This Spike Lee landmark classic looks GREAT on 4K!

I bought this film blind based on my brother's recommendation... and I'm happy I did! The story - based on a true story: a black cop infiltrates the KKK. These 6 words sold legendary Hollywood director Mr. Spike Lee to make this film. It's funny, edgy, timely, suspenseful, and so much more! Mr. Lee directed Denzel Washington's son John David Washington, and he along with Adam Driver, Laura Harrier, and company deliver the acting goods. On to the 4K part of the review: Mr. Lee is a classical filmmaker, and as such, his camera type of choice is film, not digital. The benefits of a native 4K scan really pop in the video presentation. I have a 4K projector (Optoma UHD51A), and in playing this film, my 4K UHD Blu-ray player (Sony UBP-X800) automatically switched to 24 frames per second, prompting my projector to display at 2160p (4K) 24Hz mode, giving this presentation the most authentic movie theater experience I've witnessed since I installed my new home theater system. The Dolby Atmos 7.1 audio (surprisingly!) delivers and then some. With this film being a mostly dramedy picture, I expected little to no audio to come out of any speaker other than the center. I was pleasantly mistaken. Scene audio sporadically came out of the left and right channels, but the real treat was during the auditorium scene when Corey Hawkins' character was speaking to the audience, and his voice from the podium came out of the center speaker, while the in-movie audience reaction/dialogue came out of the surround speakers, putting the viewer in the audience of Kwame Ture's speech.
The film is great, and even if you don't have a 4K player yet, pick up the 4K copy as it does come with a standard Blu-ray to "future-proof" this film in your collection. Highly recommended!

The Best Buy limited edition collector's steelbook is a must for any Star Wars fan, with the Millennium Falcon placed front and center in all of its glory, representing its scruffy-looking nerf-hearder that we all love. "Solo: A Star Wars Story" is a fun story, but that's all it is: a story in the Star Wars universe. It didn't add anything to the main Skywalker story line as provided by the "Rogue One". If you love "Star Wars", it's a must. If you like action-adventure, you'll have a good time. If you're looking for a good story with a Star Wars background, you might be disappointed. With regards to the 4K disc, it's decent not great. However, there is a noticeable uptick from the Blu-ray. This especially comes at an advantage during any given wide shot of the film and tiny details become clearer. For those of us who like the Star Wars scenery, 4K is a much better visual experience than Full HD. I would recommend the 4K over the standard Blu-ray format.

If you got a 4K projector like me, odds are it doesn't come with smart apps (I still don't know why...). And my 4K player (disappointingly) doesn't have a lot of video app options, and the ones I do use regularly - Vudu, Hulu, Netflix, and YouTube - have a maximum resolution of Full HD, not 4K. I tested the 4K + HDR with "Marvel's Avengers", and I truly couldn't believe my eyes! I had seen 4K before, but on my projector via the Chromecast Ultra, the image looked real and the colors really popped! And I don't know how it is in other apps, but on Vudu, when streaming in 4K, the audio format is in Dolby Atmos, so you truly get the theater experience at home. So now, thanks to the Chromecast Ultra, I'm able to enjoy my movie library (750+ movies) in my 4K home theater.

This fridge has us organizing our food in a way that makes it last longer, keeping our meats fresh, and our fruits and vegetables crisp. The right door can open in a way that showcases the items in the door. That's a great feature to have when grabbing things quickly. Highly recommended!

I travel most weekends for work, so this trimmer is perfect for my needs: it charges quickly, it holds the charge, and it's compact. My only complaint is that I've seen other trimmers at this price point that have adjustable trimming levels, whereas this one comes with interchangeable trimming levels. Other than that, it's great.

Great film from beginning to end, and as an Aaron Sorkin fan, I had to add it to my collection. There was just one problem: the digital copy is redeemable and viewable on iTunes only; it is not redeemable on Vudu. It's not even available to watch on Movies Anywhere.

No, not right away. You have to look into it, but I think with older Samsung phones you can get a wireless charger adapter.
