Writer/director Taika Waititi (director of THOR RAGNAROK and HUNT FOR THE WILDERPEOPLE) brings his signature style of humor and pathos to his latest film, JOJO RABBIT, a World War II satire that follows a lonely German boy (Roman Griffin Davis as Jojo) whose world view is turned upside down when he discovers his single mother (Scarlett Johansson) is hiding a young Jewish girl (Thomasin McKenzie) in their attic. In spite of his idiotic imaginary friend, Adolf Hitler (Waititi), Jojo confronts his blind nationalism.

Don't let the film's description- a young member of the Hitler Youth, who has Hitler as an imaginary friend- put you off. It's funny and sensitively told, with a winning performance from its lead actor.

Nic Cage has had a bit of an up and down career over the last several years. Happily, this is one of the better ones. I probably would not have seen it on a big screen, but from the comfort of your living room, it's definitely worth seeing.

In some ways, the sequel is even better than the original. Terrific makeup, design and cinematography; yes, the dialogue is silly in places, but who doesn't want to hear Hellboy and Abe sing Barry Minilow?

A true classic, that looks as good as in the '60s.

If you grew up with A Charlie Brown Christmas in the sixties as I did, this DVD is pure pleasure. Lots of great memories, fantastic music and a lot of laughs.
The Jumanji video gamers and their adventurous avatars (Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan) return in this action-packed sequel. This time, the game is on the fritz, players inhabit different characters, and two old geezers (Danny DeVito and Danny Glover) get sucked into the world of Jumanji, all of which makes for an even wilder ride that leads to the ultimate boss fight with sinister villain Jurgen the Brutal (Rory McCann). With Nick Jonas, Alex Wolff. 123 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack English.

If you liked the first re-booted Jumanji, you'll probably like this one. If you're coming to this film first, you probably won't know what's going on, as the sequel draws some elements from the previous film. So maybe a double feature is in order?

Before the second episode of Swamp Thing had even aired, Warners had had already decided to cancel the series, cutting it down from 13 episodes to ten. A big shame, as the series is excellent and we will never know what we missed in those remaining episodes.

A rarely told chapter in World War II, Midway is beautifully brought to life by director Roland Emmerich. The battle scenes are especially well told, and the Blu-Ray images are crisp and colorful.
Bohemian Rhapsody is an enthralling celebration of Queen, their music, and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury, who defied stereotypes and convention to become one of history's most beloved entertainers. Following Queen's meteoric rise, their revolutionary sound and Freddie's solo career, the film also chronicles the band's reunion, and one of the greatest performances in rock history.

Bohemian Rhapsody is one of those strange hybrids; if you're a fan of the group, you'll absolutely want to see it. If not, you'll probably give it a miss. Rami Malek is superb, and the musical performances are excellent, but like many bio-pics, you often get the feeling the writers are playing fast and loose with the truth. Do we really need a heavily made up Mike Myers (with ubiquitous British accent, naturally) appearing as a meta in-joke for Wayne's World? No, not really. At least with the DVD you can fast-forward past that moronic scene and get on with the music.
