Gotham continues to explore the origin of Batman and his rogue's gallery, and while the latest season wanders a bit, there are a few bright spots, notably the criminally underused Catwoman and Penguin (one of the least successful Batman villains) showing a deadly and psychotic edge. I don't know how many more seasons of material there are to explore, but the show hasn't reached that point yet.
A thumping pop/rock soundtrack propels writer/director Edgar Wright's stylish blend of action and comedy. Baby (Ansel Elgort) is a skilled professional getaway driver who uses music to drown out the ringing in his ears caused by a car accident when he was a kid. After he falls for a beautiful waitress (Lily James), Baby wants to give up his dangerous vocation, a decision that does not sit well with the crime boss (Kevin Spacey) he works for. Jon Hamm, Jamie Foxx, Jon Bernthal also star. 113 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack English.

The great thing about watching an Edgar Wright feature on the small screen is the opportunity to see all the little things you may have missed the first time. Just watch the opening credits sequence again for example, choreographed to Harlem Shuffle, and try to pick out where all the lyrics are placed in each shot. A fun film, with a superb soundtrack.

Normally debuting before each Pixar feature, the studio's short films are a wonderful and diverse collection of talent. Piper alone is worth the price of admission, with Bao a close second. Definitely worth a second look.

Rebooting Star Trek with a series set in the original universe would appear to be a no-win situation, but the producers of Star Trek Discovery appeared to have succeeded. As the DVD of season one reveals, there are a few mis-steps here and there, but overall, there are a lot more hits and misses. Having shaken down their maiden voyage, it will be interesting to see what they've got in store for season two.
