Smarten up, Sony!

I know, I know... why the 1-star rating for such a great show, right? Well, the rating is for the HORRIBLE packaging!
Why these multimillion dollar studios, like Sony, are still trying to save a penny or two on using a smidge less plastic in their packaging is beyond me... well, money, of course. But, is it really worth risking the loss of your customers in the process?
This 4-Disc set is packaged in a 2-Disc case which has the discs stacked on top of each other. This ends up scratching the discs on each other. Luckily, I read the reviews of tons of other consumers stating that their episodes freeze and skip as a result of this. So, I ended up returning this set before opening it. Sucks too, because I like the show and really wanted to take advantage of this awesome Black Friday sale price. But, I think I'll wait and see if Sony smartens up, learns from their mistake, and possibly releases a 3 season bundle next year with better packaging. Fingers crossed...

If you like this movie, than this 4K release is a MUST OWN! Especially at the Black Friday price tag. I love future-proofing my collection by upgrading the classics to 4K. It's nice knowing that you will never have to rebuy another version of a movie once you've gotten the best format that matches the resolution that the movie qas shot at. Especially with a company like Warner Bros. who does a great job with their transfers for the new formats. A great movie that's never looked better!

What can i say... it's DEXTER! If you loved the previous seasons, than there's no reason to not invest in this one. Things are a lot different in setting and tone. There's no sunny Miami backdrop this time around, as Dexter has relocated to a very wintery upper East Coast town. But, it still feels very "Dexter". It also has some nice appearances from some familiar faces. It is definitely a worthy addition to the collection and wraps up the saga nicely.

I'm a huge fan of Guillermo Del Toro's work and may have had my hopes a tad high on this one, 'cause it felt a bit lacking for some reason. The visuals were what I had hoped for and expected, but I think I was thinking it would be more of a horror flick from the title. I think I thought it was supposed to be supernatural in some way, too. But, it's actually just a straight forward picture about con artists. Which isn't bad if you're in the mood for that... just not what I was expecting to see going in. I'm sure I'll appreciate it more with multiple viewings. Still, another worthy addition to the Del Toro library.

Most steelbook editions contain the DVD as well. Do any of these contain the DVD's? And none of the special features are listed. I am particularly interested if the 4k/blu-ray have extra features that the DVD's do not. Thanks for your quick reply. Cathy
4K Combo-Packs will only contain 4K UHD and Blu-ray discs... never a DVD. While Blu-ray combos will include a DVD as well(they should say this on the packaging). And, yes, a lot of times the Blu-ray will always have more special features than the DVD counterpart. 4K sets rarely have the special features on the 4K disc and will usually have all special features on the Blu-ray disc only(or a separate disc all together for special features). It really just depends on the title. The packaging should always specify these details.

Can I run HDMI from XBox One into the receiver then the audio through the speaker and HDMI out to a projector for video? Will this receiver split the audio out of the HDMI in and leave the video in the HDMI out?
That's exactly what I use it for... but I run the output to my 4K LED, instead of a projector. I wouldn't see why there would be any difference what video display you use. Plus, it works better to use the 4K pass through with this reciever... now I don't have any audio/video syncing issues, as I did with having the audio and video going through my TV separately(via optical cable and HDMI). Now both are fed through the reciever with one HDMI input to output.

Anyone using this with a ps4 pro (video pass through) ?
I use it for a 4K XBOX ONE S pass through... if that helps you any. It's great having a direct video/audio HDMI connection, as when I did it with the optical audio separate from the video, I would have issues with them falling out-of-sync with extended use... not anymore! Works great!
