I was looking for a new TV for my new place, something bigger than a 32" I currently had. It's a small apartment so I needed something bigger but nothing to big to obscure a wall. I was wanting some more advanced features than the standard 4k entry-level sets. I wanted something around 55" or so, with at least HDR10 and 4k smart capabilities. I came across this lovely set, with Dolby Vision, local dimming and smart TV capabilities via Android! The best part was the price of $330! I was sceptical of a set this low with features more advanced than a standard 4k. The Dolby Vision is terrific, standard HDR10 is also fantastic, sharp details, accurate colors and suitably bright. It's not gonna compete with OLEDs or higher priced TVs, but it has plenty of features to make it a worthy TV for film lovers and tech savvy people. And for a great price and nice design, you could do worse!

Everything that has been said about T2 has been said, especially nearly 30 years of hindsight. I can't add anything more about the story and it's themes, it's top notch technical attributes, amongst everything else. But I can add my 2 cents about the disc(s) in question.
James Cameron had wanted to release a 3D version in theatres in honor of the film's 25th anniversary, and, of course, he is a huge proponent of 3D, having directed Avatar to great critical and commercial fame and a resurgence of 3D and the re-release of Titanic in 3D in 2012 for it's 15th anniversary, its a no-brainer he'd go back to his best film and give it a 4k and 3d remaster. Unfortunately, the release was delayed by a full year and also wasn't marketed enough or released in enough theaters to recoup costs here in the states. But, luckily enough, Lionsgate managed to release a 4k release here (sad the 3D release wasn't released here in the states, but can be had from Europe for those with region-free players or spend about $40 to nab a region A release from Korea) with the brand new 4k remaster and some other CGI tinkering to fix some errors in the film.
Unfortunately, what worked for the 3D version outright bombs here in 4k. The film is scrubbed virtually clean of film grain and it adds a waxy look to everything in the film, as if it was shot on digital gear. There is some fine details not noticed on BluRay or DVD, but this is a fairly sad picture, reminiscent of the first 2 BluRays from 2006 and 2009, respectively (for my opinion, the 2015 BluRay remains the best version to date, with accurate grain, details, and colors). Colors also have been tweaked to a noticeable degree, but it's still not as bad as the DNR (DIGITAL NOISE REDUCTION).
The audio though? The DTS-X track is a killer soundtrack, with enough punch to go through brick wall with the strength of an atom bomb. Discrete, sharp and loud surround support, with enough satisfaction in the low-end to cause a foundation to crumble. It's good stuff
Extras are not found on the 4k disc itself (Which Lionsgate has corrected since then, with nearly every 4k disc having most or all the extras on the UHD, which is something most studios still don't do!) but the included BluRay (the dreaded Skynet Edition from 2009) contains the 3 cuts of the film, commentaries, featurettes, and more on the disc. It's good stuff, but nothing new added since 2003(!) and it's a huge disappointment that they couldn't scrounge a retrospective from cast and crew.
All in all, this is a poor release, with poor picture and extras, with the only plus being the terrific audio soundtrack on the 4k disc (the 5.1 DTS-HD track on the BluRay is also quite good, but the added height channels make it amazing) and the old extras included on the aging BluRay. Only get on sale for less than $10. It's that bad.

Pennywise is back, and he's hungry! 27 years after the Losers seemingly defeated Pennywise as pre-teens, It is back to feed and the sole straggler in Derry, Mike, has to gather his childhood friends back to Derry to defeat it once and for all. But with Pennywise playing mind games, the lack of confidence from the group, and It's escalating feasting, they must bond together, and whether they live or die, must take him down once and for all.
Back in September of 2017, I wasn't sure that a remake of the admittedly cheesy miniseries from 27 years prior would be a great idea. It hadn't aged well, wasn't really scary or was even that well made overall. I figured with the director of Mama taking the reigns over noted filmmaker Cary Fukunaga (who retains a screenplay credit over the first film) and the writer of several films in the Conjuring universe, I figured it'd be a hot mess. Luckily, Andy Muscetti managed to balance the film rather well, giving the audience a lovely looking film with plenty of atmosphere and tension and also getting some good performances from the young cast and, of course, from It itself, Bill Skarsgård.
What I knew of the miniseries is that the first half was superior to the second part, and the same holds true here with the cinematic equivalent, but the films are still superior by all means. The adult cast (led by James McAlvoy, Bill Harder and Jessica Chastain being the most well known) gel quite well here, with Hader being the clear standout with a funny, tragic, scene-stealing performance. Skarsgård remains excellent, the direction by Muscetti remains well done and it's visually ba beautiful film that has a satisfying conclusion. However, there are issues to be had with the film.
As good as the direction of actors and set-up here, he lacks in the pacing department with this film. Certain scenes drag, making the almost 3-hour tome a chore to sit through. I don't mind a long film, but after awhile, you start to feel the runtime drag. The screenplay also has some quirks, most notably some "interesting" dialogue and the film also has some awkward music choices for certain scenes. The visual effects are also pretty mediocre as a whole, with some very ugly, soft CGI for most of the creature shots and even some questionable de-aging for the young cast.
Overall, it is inferior to Chapter 1, but with a satisfying conclusion with some good performances and a keen visual sense, this is one to watch.
As with the first 4k BluRay, the second one shines on home video in practically every way. Starting with the picture quality, minus the softness of a good bit of the CGI, this is a reference quality image, and it being captured digitally, this is a sharp, colorful UHD and with Dolby Vision included (HDR10 is how I viewed it) it is a reference quality disc. The Dolby Atmos is also loud, spacious, and accurate to the theatrical experience and is also reference quality. The included BluRay is also an awesome disc in it's own right, but it can't hold a candle to the awesomeness that is the UHD.
One-upping the previous 4k and standard BluRay of the previous film is the extras. Although the extras on part one were well-done, there was a lack of a full length making-of documentary or a commentary on the disc (the commentary was exclusive to iTunes, which is compatible with Movies Anywhere), whereas Chapter 2 has a satisfying making of of parts 1&2 here along with an audio commentary on the BluRay itself (sadly not on the 4k disc, but it's inclusion nonetheless welcome) and both are welcome additions. Including the aforementioned 2-part making of and on disc commentary are 3 featurettes about Pennywise, the adults and the kids meeting each other and an interview with Stephen King. All in all, this is a satisfying disc overall, but I am wondering when WB is gonna give us the compendium of both films into one giant supercut that we were promised over a year ago. That's the only way both discs would be topped, but until then, buy it immediately!

I was having my WiFi installed in my new place, but didn't want to pay $150/year on a lousy, bulky unit barely able to function, so I opted to buy one outright for peace of mind and cost savings. It's not the fastest combo unit, at only 300mbps speed and only 8 download and 4 upload channels, but for my basic needs of streaming in 4k/HD and only occasionally playing online, along with standard use, it suits me and my fiancee well! It's also a small unit that can fit anywhere with ease and light enough for moving with no issues.

GTA V is one of the best games out there, 6 years on and it still is nothing like it. The game is best played on the newer consoles or PC, but even playing on the PS3 or Xbox 360 is a fun-filled time, despite the lack of newer modes on the systems. The inclusion of heists, races and casino all add to sone fantastic fun and the Enterprise starter is a great way for those not familiar for the online component. A must own!!
