Person of Interest: The Complete Third Season [6 Discs]
Person of Interest: The Complete Third Season [6 Discs]
The crime drama's third season takes on a darker and edgier tone, as it opens with the Machine missing and completely self-governed. Root (Amy Acker) has been confined to an insane asylum but is in constant contact with the Machine, while Finch (Michael Emerson) finds himself in a position where he's no longer the Machine's sole human contact. Meanwhile, Reese (Jim Caviezel) and Shaw (Sarah Shahi) continue their work preventing crimes from happening with the help of their usual NYPD contact, Det. Fusco (Kevin Chapman); and Carter (Taraji P. Henson), who has been demoted from detective to a uniformed police officer, wages a very personal war against the corrupt police organization HR. At the same time, new threats against Team Machine come to light, including Vigilance--a watchdog group committed to exposing overreaching government surveillance methods--and Decima Technologies, who tried and failed to take control of the Machine in the previous season and are now going to extreme measures to bring another surveillance system called Samaritan online.

What's great about it: Strong, interesting leads and villains you love to hate.
What's not so great: Government conspiracy is such an overused plot-line
The Machine is one of the main leads of the show-- and even develops an evil twin!! Harold Finch and Reese are each strong in their own way,, and Root is starting to sound sane.
I find the contrast too dark in many of the scenes, but so was the broadcast version. Lots of extras, including a ComicCon panel.

Scorpion: Season One [6 Discs]
The Scorpion team of oddball prodigies uses their combined talents to solve far-reaching problems for the good of the world. All 22 episodes of the first season are included in this six-DVD set, including "Single Point of Failure," "Plutonium Is Forever," "Risky Business," and others.

Smart, funny series with quirky characters.

I enjoy the McGuyvering the geniuses do in each episode, they have a unique way of looking at the world. It's a fun series. The DVDs include shorts on 'making of', 'meet team Scorpion', stunts and gag reel. I'm pleased with the set.

The movie was battle action heavy, even if much of it did not focus on Bilbo. Some of your favorite characters don't make it out alive, just like the book. I do like the touch of bringing the movie end right back to the beginning of LOTR. The integrated minutes of extra footage and extra features are nice, but I wish they had released an extended version of movie 3 along with the extended movies 1 and 2.

I bought this as a gift, and while I prefer David Tennant to Matt Smith as The Doctor, it was an enjoyable blend of action, angst and Whovian fun-oddness. I will be buying more episodes.

The movie came through crisp & clear, several extras were included and all the favorite dragons were back. Some sad/scary scenes may not be suitable for small children. Watching made for a fun afternoon, I recommend this movie.

 Sherlock: Season Three [2 Discs]
Sherlock: Season Three [2 Discs]
This intense release from the acclaimed British detective series Sherlock includes all three feature-length episodes from the show's third season, following the adventures of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's titular hyper-observant detective as set in modern day London.

Unevenly interesting, but good for arguing about.

What's great about it: Great to finally get more Sherlock. Extras offer more than on TV.
What's not so great: Only 3 episodes are a full 'Season' of BBC Sherlock.
After such a long wait for new episodes I expected to be rewarded with the same strong, quirky, humorous writing & marvelous acting that made seasons 1 & 2 such fun. (If you don't have them, buy them, they're excellent!) Sherlock Holmes has gone through many incarnations, but the current BBC version has been even better than the BBC Jeremy Brett one, and that was tough. Well... the 3rd season is oddly uneven. It improves as it goes along. Still well worth buying, if only to argue plot choices with other Sherlock fans. The DVDS are OK, and the extras are fun. I plan on buying another set for a present, so yeah, I'd buy it again.

Does the Kindle Fire Hdx 16GB have a light at the top so I can read inhe dark. My 4 year old Kindle died on me, and I miss having my books with me.

Also, how do I dispose of my old Kindle. Is there a way to get some of my books I have bought transferred to a new Kindle fire/
Both my new Kindles have a back-lit screen (with adjustable brightness) so they don't need a separate light. Brighter light = slightly faster battery use.
Some electronics stores take electronic items for recycling, or check for recycling centers near your zip code with your municipality (city, Twp., county).
All my Amazon books appeared on my new Kindle when I registered it with Amazon as mine. Copies are still on my 1st Kindle, too.
