This is a fine middle of the road computer, desktop but not so bulky. It has plenty of power, space and everything I need is in there or plugs in the back. A few more high speed USB at the back would be nice. Front USB conn's say 3.0 but what about the rest? Wind 8.1 not that hard to find the familiar in. I added LibreOffice and GIMP right off, free doc and image handling, and the latest JAVA JRE. Google Drive for cloud backup works fine, too. You'd think that HP might send wireless KB and mouse for an even lower clutter desk, these days. Bluetooth would be grand. Touch screen would be nice, too.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Easy to use, great screen, battery, wifi
What's not so great: So SW not available for Andriod or this CPU. Limited BT modes.
I got this for handling notes at meetings, and it is fine. I tried forcing Chrome to run in desktop mode, but many complex sites overwhelmed it of showed Chrome bugs! Some apps have cut Android off, or do not like this CPU. More support picking a good replacement for flash and such would be nice. Wifi goes dead occasionally, has to be disabled and enabled after long sleep, but not aggravatingly often. Many fine apps available. Instructions insufficient for all the internal function points, especially for new tablet users. First unit died about 2 weeks in. No app sync to load up the new tablet. Bookmark sync via Google is nice. Sometimes it seems to get lost in loops, but no more than my desktop!
This product is... responsive touch screen, Perfect for Business, A nice compact size, Sharp graphics, Easy to navigate, Great screen size, Comfortable to hold, Good sound quality, easy to set up, Variety of apps available, handy high aspect ratio
About me... Basic web surfing & emails, Social media enthusiast, Business Professional, traveler, Budget Conscious, Technology guru, retired, Comfortable with technology

What's great about it: Good Protection, several configurations
What's not so great: A bit floppy on my Insignia Flex 10.1
This works fine with my Insignia Flex 10.1, if a bit floppy when folded up flat, either open or closed. I suppose a universal will always have some fit variances. I like to use it in stand-up mode on a level table.

LAPTOP OR DESK TOP?

MEMORY SPEED RAM, ROM
Dektops can support faster CPUs, as power is not so much an issue, and faster disks. The RAM and ROM speeds are completely comparable, although you may see higher RAM bus speeds on a Desktop. Speed is a pyramid, starting with CPU clock, then bus speeds, Cache speeds, RAM speeds and disk speeds. But when starting a system or app, that is exactly backward: since everything is on disk initially, disk speed tends to dominate. Not seek speed, although that is nice, especially if the files are not optimally defragmented, but spindle speed, not only for low latency but as a contributor to data flow rate.

What is the best All-in-one Desktop for a office setting?

I am looking for the best All-in-one desktop, not a MAC because i am looking to purchase (6) six of them. They will need to be able to do any and all that can be done on a computer from loading software, using flash drives, DVD, CD, SD cards, etc...
Price, time -- the answer changes every day. The base all-in-one's are very capable, but a larger screen and touch screen can help productivity and accommodate big spreadsheets and aging eyes.

Consider LibreOffice and GIMP -- Open Source free solutions to MS compatible office software.

Good cloud backup will allow the files on all PCs to be visible on all PCs and offsite to tablet, notebook and smartphone users. A usb hard drive is a cheap and effective local backup. While cloud backup can be more immediate and automatic, local hard drive data restores faster, so have both.

Download internet security w/o cd/dvd drive. Site trendmicro.com/bestbuydownloads doesnt have a place to select product purchased.

What site do I use to download this security system?
Usually, your ISP provides a security product for free, like Norton with Comcast, but if you want another, you can download it, unplug the net, remove any old product, install it and hook the net back up. Some installs may need net access.

Will geek squad add any computer parts I buy?

i was thinking of getting a cheap desktop and have geek squad add a graphics card will they do this for me if I buy the Gpu or would I have to do this myself?
Assuming it is compatible, they can install it for you. It is a simple deal: open, plug, close. They should know how to do it static-protected, so the reliability is intact! Consider more RAM at the same time. Graphics eats up ram big time. Ditto for gaming.

Which HP Pavilion model should I buy?

Is the HP Pavilion model 500-270 with Intel core i3 a dual or quad processor? I use computer for the normal web-surfing, online shopping, iTunes, burning cd's, uploading pictures, email. I'm trying to decide between HP Pavilion 500-217c AMD A8-6500 quad-core $449-, HP Pavilion 500-314 AMD A8-7600 quad-core $519.99, HP Pavilion 500-c60 AMD A6-5200 quad-core $429.99 or the HP Pavilion 500-270 4th generation Intel Core i3-4130 processor $509.99. All have 8GB memory & 1 TB hard drive, except the 500-314 model- it has 2TB. My main concern is speed when searching the web & the refreshing of screens when multiple programs/screens are running or being used & iTunes/iOs updates downloading quickly.
It is hard for anyone else to decide for you. Price alone is a personal thing -- going hot or going cheap?

RAM is an easy upgrade, and most modern systems can handle a lot, but it can be cheaper to buy a machine that does not have small cards you have to resell on eBay! Ditto for disk space, but the add on cures are many and more varied, like second HD, big external USB hard drives and cloud storage. However, none of the activities you mentioned are ram intensive, like graphics and video editing.

You might want to visit AnandTech and see if they review these CPUs, so you can understand their strengths. Anand's people go into excruciating detail! http://www.anandtech.com/bench/CPU/39

is this a touch screen?

No, Touch Screen is a high end feature always highlighted in the item description. The cheapest at BestBuy start at $300, so they are not out of reach:

Quality of the built in camera? HD?

Check your manual files. If I got the right model, onine spec says:

Optional integrated 1 MP webcam & dual microphone array; maximum resolution of 1280 x 720. So, 720P HD.
