This is a fine middle of the road computer, desktop but not so bulky. It has plenty of power, space and everything I need is in there or plugs in the back. A few more high speed USB at the back would be nice. Front USB conn's say 3.0 but what about the rest? Wind 8.1 not that hard to find the familiar in. I added LibreOffice and GIMP right off, free doc and image handling, and the latest JAVA JRE. Google Drive for cloud backup works fine, too. You'd think that HP might send wireless KB and mouse for an even lower clutter desk, these days. Bluetooth would be grand. Touch screen would be nice, too.

What's great about it: Easy to use, great screen, battery, wifi
What's not so great: So SW not available for Andriod or this CPU. Limited BT modes.
I got this for handling notes at meetings, and it is fine. I tried forcing Chrome to run in desktop mode, but many complex sites overwhelmed it of showed Chrome bugs! Some apps have cut Android off, or do not like this CPU. More support picking a good replacement for flash and such would be nice. Wifi goes dead occasionally, has to be disabled and enabled after long sleep, but not aggravatingly often. Many fine apps available. Instructions insufficient for all the internal function points, especially for new tablet users. First unit died about 2 weeks in. No app sync to load up the new tablet. Bookmark sync via Google is nice. Sometimes it seems to get lost in loops, but no more than my desktop!

What's great about it: Good Protection, several configurations
What's not so great: A bit floppy on my Insignia Flex 10.1
This works fine with my Insignia Flex 10.1, if a bit floppy when folded up flat, either open or closed. I suppose a universal will always have some fit variances. I like to use it in stand-up mode on a level table.

Can I turn only the monitor off?
I often access my database computer remotely. Currently I turn monitor off and leave operating system on so that I can gain access without the computer going to sleep. Is that possible to do with this All-in-One computer?
If you go to the power options or display preferences and drill down, you will find controls to put the display into power saving sleep. Power and life savings for flat screens are not like CRTs, where there was a cathode filament still on when the display was blank.

what type of printer can be used with HP all in one desktop computer and isn't too expensive?
Almost any wifi, ethernet or usb attachable printer will work. In some cases, you may have to download a driver from the manufacturer. Inkjet printers are often pried very cheap, well under $50, and may also include a scanner for graphic input and copying.

I plan to use this to house and play my music files that is almost 1 terabyte in volume. Can I put a second internal hard disc in one of this?
It is hard to nail down a specific model from that, but the C460 lets you seamlessly install up to 2TB of additional storage space — without the need for a screwdriver.
However, your existing terabyte may be sufficient, especially if it is formatted NTFS so you can compress the music. You might also compress it in zip file(s), each of which displays as a directory.
With internet connectivity, you can stash your files on free/cheap clouds like OneDrive and GoogleDrive,
Finally, new machines come with USB 3.0, which would support a more than sufficiently fast external hard drive -- a good idea for local backup, too.

the person that sold us the tablet ...a manager...said it worked with instant video. it doesn't. can you explain?
You need the right app to play the video. Try searching in Play Store or on Google.

Books
Can I read a book downloaded from my Overdrive from my library account? Does this tablet read files EPUB? I want to use this tablet mainly for eReading, but do not want to have to go through Kindle, Amazon, or books that I would have to buy.
If you can find an app, you are in! I like the free Kindle libraries, but tastes vary. Google around, starting with Play Store search.

how do you delete ?
I have a tablet and would like to know how to delete games,etc. From my tablet as u can tell I am not to Davey when it comes to this sort of thing.
There are free cleaning apps that can guide you through this. Search Play Store for Clean.

Something to improve connectivity?
I have this tablet and it is great, but I got to be like right next to the modem in order to have a steady connection, I can't even watch YouTube a couple rooms down the hall without it trying to load and connect constantly. So my question is this, is there anything I can buy, like an entena that I can plug into it, just so I can have a more steady connection? Thanks
Get Wifi Analytics and ensure the router is on an open, quiet channel. You may be fighting your neighbor.

does tablet battery run down when turned off..
wifi turned off table shut off, but battery still runs down. Is this normal
Just touching the button does not turn it off, it just sleeps until the battery is very low. If you hold the button, you can choose power off.

why can I not open downloads
If I enter to view a bill or insurance info it downloads it but tells me "cannot open" this is for pretty much all downloads. Is there a setting i'm missing
You need an app for the file type. Adobe reader is nice for PDFs, and I use WPS Office and Astro FIle Manager for many others.
