is audio standard or do I need an external mike?

The new HERO does have in-camera microphones that are great for normal audio. The HERO is not compatible with our Pro Mic Adapter, so it can't connect to an external mic.

Pretty much any GoPro can be used as dash cam, but your best options will probably be one that offers a looping feature so you can record indefinitely, and just save any segments where activity you want to keep occurs. Take a look at the HERO5 Session, the HERO5 Black, and the HERO6 Black. Each of those has a looping function and may be just what you're looking for.

What is the minimum and maximum SD/microSD memory size I can use on this new 2018 GoPro Hero?

Are the Hero and the Hero5 the same exact size?? I need to know if the Hero will fit in accessories that say they are for Hero5. Thanks!!

Is this the 2018 version? Also is this a 1220mAh battery?

Yes, this is the new 2018 HERO. It uses the same 1220mAh lithium-ion rechargeable battery that our HERO5 Black and HERO6 Black cameras use.

Is it possible to use the GoPro as a dash cam in the car, and if so are accessories available like a windshield or dash mount and power adapter?

Yes, it's possible to use a GoPro as a dash cam. The Suction Cup mount is an option that may work for you. Also, the camera comes with a USB cable to charge the camera, so any adapter that can plug into your car and provide enough power should work.

Can this be attached to the GoPro Elgrande?

The El Grande has a quick release connector, so any mount that has that connector (it's the connector that slides into the mount and locks into place using two arms) will work. A standard tripod mount that has a screw connector on the bottom would not work.

Vented Helmet Strap Mount (All GoPro Cameras)

This strap lets you mount your GoPro camera to a vented helmet for capturing action photos and videos and features an adjustable size for a secure fit.

About how large can this be opened up to? Whats the largest circumference this can open to? Trying to use this for other purposes than for a helmet. Also, is it a buckle that secures the strap or is it more of a hook and loop?

This mount has a separate strap on each side that loops out from the central mount. The central mount is about 3" wide, and each strap/loop can extend about 5" when fully extended and flat, so if the max it could stretch is about 13". Whatever space the object you're attaching it to would be positioned inside the loops and would therefore shorten the reach of the straps though, so take that into consideration.

Each strap/loop is secured with a clip latch so you can pull the straps tight and lock down the latch. Simply pop the latch open to loosen or remove the mount.
