Yes, the Karma has an altimeter that allows you to see the altitude above the ground on the display screen on the Controller.

looking for a low light camera. Do you recommend the Hero 6 or the Hero 5. Need it for bedroom action with the voice command!! low light like with candles or dim lighting..

Both the HERO5 and the HERO6 will be ok in low light, but GoPro cameras work best in full light.

Is this waterproof?

Since the Shorty has no electronic parts of its own, it can be used in the water. The Shorty is not a floatation mount though, so if you're going to be in deeper water, you'll want to use additional floatation attachments or mounts to be safe.

Can you charge the camera while it is recording?

Yes, the camera can be powered externally while it is recording. Note though that while the USB power cable is connected, the camera will not be fully waterproof, so you'll want to make sure the camera stays dry while power is connected.

I want to buy the Go pro 5 or 6 for my son. He is only 10 years old and he wants to make YouTube videos. Would this camara work for that? Also I got an iPad new one for him. Can this be use together?

Yes, either a HERO5 Black or a HERO6 Black would be good for making YouTube videos. He can download and edit the videos on a computer before sharing them, or he can share them using a smartphone or the iPad you mentioned using the GoPro app. Some versions of the iPad are not able to run the GoPro app though, so you'll want to check to make sure the iPad you have is compatible.

How long does the battery last on a charge ?

Battery life will depend on which mode you're shooting in. For example, at a high resolution and frame rate like 1440p and 60 fps, the battery should last about an hour and 20 minutes. At a lower setting like 1080p and 30 fps, you should get about two and a half hours of battery life per charge.

I'll be mountain biking in very warm weather. I'm aware that a GoPro can record while plugged in. But can it record for up to 3 hours at once (on external power)? Also, how big of a micro sd card will I need if I need to store 3 hours of 4K video on it?

With external power, the HERO5 Session can record indefinitely. Note though that when the power supply is plugged in, the camera will not be waterproof, so you'll want to make sure the camera is mounted somewhere where it can remain dry.

4K will use memory faster than other resolutions, so you'll want to experiment with cards before you take it out on a ride. For 3 hours, you're most likely going to need to swap cards or find a 128GB or larger card that will work with the GoPro.

why the battery cover cannot open?It is so tight!!!!!I cannot open it!!!

Be sure to press the button down on the battery door. If the door is still tight, try using your fingernail in the gap on the edge of the battery door to push the door open. As you use the camera and open and close that door, the door will loosen up and be easier to open.
