The HERO9 Black has microphones built into the camera itself. If you'd like to attach an external mic, take a look at the GoPro Media Mod for the HERO9 Black. It includes a separate mic and has a port to connect an external mic to the camera. As for audio quality, the HERO9 Black uses GoPro's latest audio technology.

The GoPro slips into the Media Mod very easily and can be removed just as easily whenever you'd like. The HDMI out port on the Media Mod is a micro HDMI port.

Is there an adapter I can purchase that will allow this to be plugged in to my cigarette lighter or USB so I can use it while driving with out having to worry about the battery life?

The HERO8 Black comes with a USB-C cable that can connect to standard USB ports and chargers. If you have a lighter adapter that can output to USB at 5V /1-2A power, it should work with the HERO8 Black.

I have a Hero3 with extra batteries and also the protective clear plastic case. Will the batteries and the case work with the Hero8? Thanks.

Sorry, but the batteries from the HERO3 will not work with the HERO8 Black.

can it be mounted in my toyota tacoma

Yes, you should be able to do that. The mount in the Tacoma is GoPro's standard mount connector, so it will work with nearly all GoPro cameras, including the HERO8 Black.
