Does this model have smart sound where the volume will adjust between shows and commercials?

The AU8000 features Auto Volume which will equalize the volume automatically. Go to Settings > Sound > Expert Settings and then turn on Auto Volume.

Can a table top stand be be used instead of the wide legs?

Hello Susie,

The TU690T will either need to be wall mounted or used on it's legs. It is not designed to be played on a table or stand without legs supporting the TV.

There are TV stands that has the ability to mount the TV to the stand directly instead of the wall.
