Yes, having additional protection is an option you can take. This range has been designed to comply with the maximum allowable wood cabinet temperatures of 194 °F. Make sure the range's wall covering, countertops, and cabinets can withstand the range's heat (up to 194 °F). If not, discoloration, delamination, or melting may occur.
