Great question, 3.1 is a 4-channel sound system consisting of 3 speakers and one subwoofer (LFE). Speakers are positioned L-C-R (left, center, and right) and the sub should be on the ground level in the center. Center channel is usually used for dialogue, while the L and R channels are used for ambience, music, effects, and other stereo sounds. 5.1 is a much more common configuration in consumer audio.5.1 is a 6-channel sound system consisting of 5 speakers and one subwoofer (LFE): FL-C-FR-SL-SR-LFO. RE: HW-Q900T sound bar sound modes (standard, surround, game and adaptive)-what is the best sound mode to use? Also, what is adaptive mode? And for sound level adjustments to bass, center, side etc, is there a site to assist with optimum level examples?

Does this play Amazon music, etc., like any other Alexa device? I.e., can I say “Alexa play music” and it will play Amazon content with sound bar quality?

Yes, the HW-Q900T comes built in with Alexa. Using Alexa, you can play music, listen to news, see weather forecasts, and control home appliances.
To use Amazon Alexa, an Amazon account is required to connect the Soundbar over the network.
1. Install the SmartThings app on your mobile device and then launch it.
2. Enter the Alexa account by following the instructions on the app and then log in the service.

does tv screen have a protective film that needs to be removed?

Yes, if there is a protective film on your screen, it will be indicated with a large blue triangle in the upper left corner. The triangle will have an illustration showing how to remove the protective film.
If you do not have a blue triangle in the upper left corner, then that means there is no protective film on the screen, so please do not try to peel off anything. You will damage what is actually the screen.
