What could happen if the temperature drops below 50 degrees? Would turning the power off during low temperatures help?

During GoT and some other shows, I could barely see the visually dark scenes on my old TV. Since I love fantasy and crime shows this happens a lot. Will this be a good choice for much better viewing? Does anyone have a better suggestion?

Can I attached my broadcast TV antenna to this? That is the only way we can watch live TV so would need to be able to attach the antenna so we can continue to get these channels. Would I still need a converter box as we have now?
