Thanks for your question. The light that you see on the hard drive itself is a light showing that the hard drive is functioning. There is no button on the hard drive. If you are using a Windows laptop you can "eject" the hard drive by pointing your cursor to the task bar in the lower right corner, click on the arrow and you should see an icon that says to safely remove hardware. Select your hard drive and you will see a prompt on your display that states that it is safe to remove the hard drive.
