Wondering how well this laptop would work for me. I would be doing writing, research, emails, mostly basic stuff. I would prefer something with decent battery life, that can withstand having 10 chrome tabs open, without dying on me, I'm a multi-tasker.

This system has a battery life of up to 4.5 hours, depending on the work that the device is performing. Having up to 10 tabs open is heavy use and would lessen the battery life of this device. You need a processor with higher processor cache memory than this processor has - 2MB. A Core I-7 processor would have 4MB of cache memory. This would be more compatible with your described workload.
