This model is not user upgradable. A certified technician must do all of the work, so as to not void the warranty. Your certified technician can increased the RAM on this device to 16GB by replacing the 8GB stick shipped with the device.

Can you upgrade the RAM? In the specifications it says upgradeable to 8GB. But doing some reaserach, most people say that you can't.
No, the RAM within this system is not upgradable.

Can you install Linux on this laptop? If so, how much storage will you have after installing it as your primary operating system?
That will depend on the requirements of the software. We recommend you check with the software publisher web site for their minimum/recommended hardware requirements (Is a Graphics card required, the processor speed and the minimum required system RAM and the minimum available hard drive space) to run their program, then compare those requirements to this system's configuration.
