Hello. I know this model number 81DE0085US, ships with 8GB of RAM. 4GB soldered to the motherboard and 4GB in the one memory slot. Can I add more memory to this laptop? I mean, if I replace the one in the slot for another memory,.

This model is not user upgradable. A certified technician must do all of the work, so as to not void the warranty. Your certified technician can replace the 4GB RAM stick with an 8GB stick for a system total of 12GB RAM.

Is this a good computer for beginner freshman, to do basic school work and English papers or the connect access homework?

This is an entry level, light use system with its AMD E2 processor. It is not meant for multi-tasking or demanding programs. It is good for light work with Microsoft Office type programs and light internet browsing. If this describes your computing needs, the IdeaCentre 330-20 All-In-One system would be a good choice.

I bought this laptop 1 month ago for my daughter's birthday and it is having problems since 5 days ago. The adapter broke and the screen is malfunctioning. What should I do? Call Lenovo or bring to Best Buy? Please advise.
