I have read on other sites that this laptop shuts down when running on battery power if you pick it up and move it. Has anyone else experienced this?

We have not heard of this issue.

Would this computer be adequate for online classes? Does it have the right whatever needed for streaming videos for classes? Does it have adequate memory? I do not do gaming stuff, only school.

This is an entry level system. It is meant for light use. You will be able to stream videos with this Windows 10 system. With regard to enough RAM or storage memory, we recommend you check with your school for their recommendation for a computer. Check what their suggestion is for minimum/recommended hardware and the speeds of the processor within the recommended system to take courses through their web site.

I know you can add RAM but does this unit have slots or is the card soldered in?

A certified technician can add up to 8GB of RAM to this system. There is one slot, so the 4GB stick will have to be replaced. The work must be done by a certified technician so as to not void the warranty.
