Try reinstalling Google Chrome. There should not be lag with this configuration. Check what is running in the background when Google Chrome is open.

No, this system does not have an open bay for a second hard drive.

There is a port to plug the charger in to the device on the left side of the device, near the hinge on the device. Plug the charger in to the device, then plug in to the wall.
