I'm sorry for the confusion, but the DVD-C500 is a DVD player only, and will not offer receiver functionality. That said, Samsung does not make any solo devices that can replace a DVD or BD Player receiver that is part of a home entertainment system.

How do I connect this player to Netflix? What cables will I need?

However, the quick and simple way is to first purchase the Samsung Linkstick for Wireless home network connectivity (or you can also use the built in ethernet port for a wired connection to your home network. Make sure your home network is connected to the internet). Press the Smart Hub button on the player's remote, then navigate to the Netflix app that should be preinstalled. then its just a matter of following the onscreen instruction on how to pair your BD player to your Netflix account.

Will this unit work with exsisting Samsung system remotes?

Since most Samsung BD Players will offer the same IR codes, the remote control from your old Samsung BD player should work with the new one. However, the old remote may not have direct access to some new features that are supported by the new BD Player, so you may loose some functionality there.

Screws for tilt wall mount don't fit

Both long and short M8 screws came with my VESA wall mount. Neither size fits (either too long, or too short when using the included holder rings from Samsung). If I purchase screws from hardware store, what length should I get?

Unfortunately, the only information I have regarding mounting bolts that are compatible with the UN55D8000 is that they should be the M8 size bolts. I cannot say that the use of hardware store bought bolts will be compatible or what length to purchase. I also cannot tell you a specific length to use since many wall mounts will have different requirements; however I can suggest that you contact a Best Buy associate directly for inforamtion on obtaining different Vesa sized Bolts for your application.

can i burn dvds on this item?

From the available inforamtion, none of the Samsung BD Players, including the BD-D5250, will offer the ability to record to a DVD or Blu-Ray disk.
