Is there a chance I will hear a buzzing noise?
I've read some reviews on plasma tv's, and saw that some people had a buzzing noise problem. Is that a common problem with plasma tv's?
The buzzing sound your plasma TV makes is normal. It's caused by the electrical charges that are used to create the images on the screen. The buzzing, however, should not be so loud that you can hear it when the volume on the TV is set at normal levels.
If your Plasma TV is buzzing loudly, follow these steps:
1. Set the volume of the TV to the setting you normally use.
2. Stand at least 15 feet away. If you do not hear the buzz, your Plasma TV is working normally.
3. If you continue to hear a loud buzz when you are 15 feet from the TV, return to the TV and see if any cables are resting against the metal back cover of the TV. If cables are resting against the back panel, reposition them so that they do not rest against the back panel and see if that reduces the buzzing.

Does the digital optical audio out on the tv put out a 5.1 signal or just 2.1 stereo?
my receiver does not have HDMI pass through so I would be connecting the HDMI cables from the dvd player, xbox, etc directly to the tv and then running the audio from the tv to the receiver
From the info I have, the optical output on the Samsung TVs will only output 2.1 audio when passing audio signals from digital sources (HDMI, component).

Does this Model Convert 2D images to 3D?
As a matter of fact, all of the Samsung 3D TVs offer the ability to convert 2D signals to 3D. That said, 2D signals can still be displayed as 2D by turning off the 2D to 3D conversion feature (a button on the remote allows for easy switching between modes).

Looking at Best Buy the sales person say's this T.V is a hybread plasma / LED has both tecnoligy I do not see this in the t/v spec's is it true
while shopping in corna ca. we were looking for a Samsun LED 50 or bigger t/v, we were shown this 58" Samsung plasma, picture looks as good or better than the LED. The saleperson is telling us it has LED/ plama tecnoiigy combined and the t/v is refered to as a hybread. Once I am home a looking at the Best Buy web sight there is no mention of this type ability.
I'm sorry for the confusion. Due to the Plasma technology and how it works (Plasma Televisions operate using a combination of gas and glass to illuminate the individual pixels, or light sections, within the screen), the Samsung Plasma TVs do not offer LED illumination on the panel.

Every So often the screen goes black on my PN58C8000 for about 4-5 seconds. Is this the TV or the HDMI Cable?
I’m sorry you are having an issue with your device. Although with the information you have provided I do not have a solution for you; I will say that if you contact your local Best Buy's Geek Squad or Samsung Service, they should be able to provide you with a live solution.

Will it burn images in the screen like old plasma tv's if I play Ps3 games on it?
Although permanent burn-in is a rare occurrence, temporary burn-in or ghosting can be prevented or eliminated. There are two different kinds of active burn in protection features on the Samsung Plasma TVs. The first one is PixelShift (PixelShift can be adjusted on or off and allows for intensity level adjustments). This feature will basically move all your pixels, uniformly, a predetermined amount of pixel spaces in order to prevent a pixel from being lit in a specific pixel space for too long. However, if ghosting does occur, you can use the other anti-burn in feature, called Scrolling, to help refresh the screen. The Scrolling feature will "scroll" a gradient of black and white across the screen to help eliminate the ghosting, if any, that has accumulated on your panel. Both of these features can be found in the Picture Options section of the TV's menu.
