Excellent Choice for Small Jobs
on October 31, 2022
Posted by: Cipher469
The new HP DeskJet 4133e is a great print/scan/copy choice for the home or small office. It’s compact size and design does not take up much space, and its weight makes it easy to move if needed.
Set up of the 4133e and connecting it to Wi-Fi is quick and easy if you follow the instructions. Installing the two ink pots might give you a bit of a “Hmm” moment. Take a good look inside the small area, compare what you are seeing with an ink cartridge, and you should be fine. Download the HP Smart app if you don’t already have it, and then add the new device to it. Again, by following the instructions, this too is quick and easy. Load paper, and you are set to go.
Print/copy quality is excellent and done quickly. There is some print noise, but I did not find it to be more than expected. Scanning quality is also excellent. Speed is good, and noise is acceptable. For my personal requirements, there is only one feature lacking: duplex printing/scanning/copying. However, for the home or small office, this may not be a problem for the user; and, in no way does it lessen the operational and productive qualities of the 4133e. There’s plenty of bang for the bucks, and it looks good, too. Black Friday is coming soon.

Multi-featured Dash Cam
on October 17, 2022
Posted by: Cipher469
The Rexing V5C offers lots of features in a small chassis. There is the front facing camera, a “back seat” camera on the rear, and a mounting arm on the top. In addition, a rear facing camera (sold separately) can be attached for seeing the road behind you.
Recording on the front cam is done in 4K and 1080p on the rear, thus providing excellent reproduction of whatever scenes it views. The 1700 wide angle lens captures a side-to-side broad view of the road and/or other surroundings. Recording is saved on an included memory card, which is easy to locate and remove as needed. The inside camera allows for manual alignment to maximize back seat viewing angles.
Camera settings and controls are clearly marked, making set up and later adjustments quite easy. That said, I strongly suggest performing those functions when the car is sitting still. Otherwise, you are essentially “texting while driving.” No worries, Rexing has made many of those functions available via voice control. In addition, to voice control, the V5C has built-in GPS to assist with location and speed information. Add the Rexing app to the mix, and you have several sources of assistance so you can better focus on the driving. While the car is parked and you are away from it, the V5C still is working for you via the parking monitor which can activate the dash cam to start recording if it senses vibrations or other motions. This feature can be employed 24/7.
The installation process is amazingly simple, which is great. However, related to this area is why I deducted one star. The mount is integrated into the overall device. Thus, there is no way to make any adjustments however small you might desire. When the device is adhered to the windshield, it’s stuck in the predetermined angle of view. So, when you are performing the easy installation, be absolutely sure you are positioning the camera exactly where you want it. Because, if you don’t, you are stuck with it as it is. An uninstall is not going to be as easy, no matter what the reason. As well thought out as the V5C’s functionality appears to be, the mount is like the fly in the punchbowl.
The fly aside, the V5C is a great camera, and I would recommend it.

Ninja Scores Again
on October 15, 2022
Posted by: Cipher469
From my experience, Ninja makes great kitchen cooking devices. This new 1760-Watt Foodi Grill (EG201) definitely upholds my view of Ninja products.
Ninja cookers are built sturdy, and the EG201 continues that tradition. This cooker pretty much does it all, except brewing tea or coffee. It air fries, bakes, broils, roasts, dehydrates, and char-grills. Yes, char-grills not merely grills. The components include: a 10” x 10” grill grate, spatter shield, 4 qt. crisper basket, 6qt. cooking pot, and a cleaning brush. Controls on the touch screen are easy to read, and the pre-sets are extremely helpful. Another especially notable feature is it heats up rapidly!
I was leery as to how this cooker could “char-grill,” but I was amazed when I grilled Creole spice rubbed pork loin steaks. Following the recommended cooking time and temperature for frozen meat, the outcome was perfectly grilled pork, done to my taste on the inside and crisp (Yes!) on the outside. The appearance was as if it had been cooked on a conventional grill. Ninja calls it “cyclonic grilling technology” that produces 500O rapid cyclonic air, searing, and char-grilled look and flavor. I call it “delicious.” I have an indoor electronic grill which works well, but it will now retire in favor this amazing Ninja. Though I’m not much on grilling vegetables or fruit, it’s supposed to do that well; and I suspect that is spot on.
As to the air fryer function, it seems everybody has one these days. Ninja models have been excellent all along, and this new cooker leaps ahead of its predecessors. French fries, chicken tenders, etc. turn out well, as you would expect. The actual result the food seems to come out crisper without being overcooked as it would be at times in the past.
Ninja has once again introduced another great cooker, surpassing the high bar already set by its own prior great cookers. The “char-grill” function alone makes this a terrific addition to the kitchen. The other impressive functions are an outstanding bonus! A BOGO of sorts. Think about it, the holidays are coming.

Aggressive
on October 5, 2022
Posted by: Cipher469
One bad experience aside, I have continually been a fan of Shark vacuums. Currently, I have a Shark Robot and hand vac downstairs and the same upstairs, and the RV763 was intended to replace an aging robot. Setting it up and connecting to Wi-Fi was quite easy.
I have a cat and picking up cat hair is job one for any vacuum of mine. The RV763, even at the lowest power setting, does an effective job on both carpeted and wooden floors. Controlling the vacuum is easily done using the excellent Shark app, by voice via Alexa or Google, and manually via the easy to see onboard controls.
The one thing that the RV763 does not have, as my other Shark Robots do, is a mapping function utilized before its first independent cleaning operation. Instead, this model relies solely on bumper sensors and cliff sensors. Unfortunately, this where the vac fails. On it’s first run, it ran around randomly and collided with everything in its way. It slowed for nothing: walls, furniture, etc. Hoping that issue would correct itself after getting familiar with the area, I cautiously tried again over three days. Nope, it still ran amok as if it were in a demolition derby. Never have I experienced this with any other Shark vacuum. Color-wise, it is a white Shark, but I doubt that explains the aggressiveness.
Overall, as a vacuum, the RV763 does a decent job. However, performance comes at the potential cost of damage to walls and furniture. Only if a buyer plans to use it solely in an area that cannot be damaged would I recommend it.

Very Nice Security Camera, but…..
on September 30, 2022
Posted by: Cipher469
Swann’s new CoreCam is easy to install. Being cordless, there is no need to be near an outlet. That makes it easy to relocate should you wish. Connecting to wi-fi was another matter. I have a gigabit tri-band mesh system that works very well throughout my house; and, for some reason, the camera didn’t like it. So, after three failed efforts, I tried my older dual band to which it connected.
The camera offers several different views to select from, and the HD picture quality is excellent. Along with video, there is a snapshot option. There is also a zoom function, but it is the proverbial fly in the punchbowl. The 2-way talk function is good, but the sound volume from the camera speaker is low, even at the maximum volume setting set in the app. Another plus is that free storage is available via a pre-installed 32GB Micro SD card.
While the camera basics work well enough, the app and its interaction with the camera goes to the other end of the spectrum. The least of that is after downloading, no icon was sent to my phone for future app access. I must go to Google Play to open it.
Attempting to view recorded items is a chore. One time I can tap on a recording and quickly watch it. On the other hand, I can tap until I’m tired from having no response. Trying to view after an alert, it will tell me to wait for 5-10 seconds; but that timetable is often meaningless. Nothing happens. On other occasions, when clicking on recorded videos, it will show the same picture for every recorded time slot.
It is unfortunate that this particularly good camera is crippled by adverse operating issues and a quirky app.

Great Home Printer
on September 20, 2022
Posted by: Cipher469
For home printing or even a small office, the XP-5200 can partner well with you. It’s compact size, ease of use functionality, and fast quality output make it so. It has its quirks, but they don’t diminish the product.
Out of the box, the 5200 can be operational in minutes. Connecting via wi-fi to a computer or other device is incredibly easy. It connected to my computer in much less than a minute and with no intervention from me. Already loaded with paper, it was ready to go to work. Printing one or two-sided takes place very quickly and with great accuracy. The same can be said for making copies or scanned documents. Be aware the 5200 does not have a document feeder, so you might want to consider a different model if you have lots of multipage documents for copying and scanning.
There is a small screen for operating the various functions, accompanied by touch buttons next to the screen for device functions control. In addition, there is also assistance from the software that can be downloaded after the printer is connected. As with most devices, there is a bit of a learning curve to effectively use the controls, but it is not difficult. In addition, mobile and voice-activated operation is available by using the set-up instructions in the accompanying installation instructions.
The paper tray can be finicky when pushing it back into the device. Be careful not to force it, as you might damage the tray. I quickly found that if you jig the tray to the left, and it will slide right in.
The XP-5200 is branded as a home printer, so if you usually have large projects (copying or scanning), you might want to get a model with a feeder. Otherwise, the 5200 would be an excellent choice and possibly save you money!

Excellent Cooker
on August 31, 2022
Posted by: Cipher469
Bella makes particularly good to great kitchen products, and I am pleased to say I own a variety of them. That said, the bar was high for the 4.2qt cooker, and it performed with “frying” colors.
Taking the cooker out of the box, the first thing I noticed was its weight is lighter than anticipated. Being lighter than others I have used; it is sturdy yet easier to move around when needed. This is especially helpful to those who have reached the more senior levels of life. Being lighter in weight does not mean the cooker is a “lightweight.” It offers the multitude of tasks that are common on most: fry, bake, broil, roast, and reheat.
The controls are displayed on a large touchscreen with eight cooking presets. Temperature settings range from 170-400 degrees. Temperature and time are easily adjusted up/down as needed for cooking. I did occasionally find the touchscreen needed a couple of taps before responding, but that had no adverse effect on cooking performance. When you have cook time and temperature set, there a no worries about preheating. The 1500-Watt system heats very quickly. So, if you have not already done it, don’t lag on putting in the cooking basket with the food (up to 3.6 pounds).
Usually, the first thing I do to try out an air fryer is how well it cooks French fries. If it performs well with fries, it’s a great start. This time I started with pork tenderloin chops. Using the Bella manual (included), I set the fry function to the recommended temp/time and put my trust in the cooker. When the cooker finished only minutes later, the loin chops were perfectly cooked: brown on the outside and done to 166 degrees inside. The next day cooking fries, they came out slightly overcooked. However, I must confess that was the result of user error. Cooking thin fries requires adjusting cook time, and I know that. I failed, not Bella. Otherwise, those fries would have been perfect.
The only thing that seems to be missing from an otherwise great cooker, is a “shake” or “turnover” reminder when cooking has reached a certain point in time. Not a deal breaker, just information. This cooker is another quality product from Bella!

Super Headphones!
on August 1, 2022
Posted by: Cipher469
I have long been a Logitech fan for keyboards and mice. Until recently, the brand did not cross my mind for music. These new Zone Vibe 125 (ZV) headphones piqued my interest; and, as a result, Logitech is now on my music radar. These headphones are great, combining performance with comfort.
Wearing hearing aids, a comfortable fit is especially important. The first thing I did after removing the ZV from the box was to charge it. Before even considering the music, the next thing was to try them on. The ZV is noticeably light in weight, nicely cushioned and with an oval design providing a comfortable fit. After a few tweaks, I added the music. Listening for over an hour, I had almost forgotten that I was wearing headphones. Fit and comfort are necessary for a great listening experience.
Performance is much better than I have experienced from some headphones costing considerably more. The 40MM speaker drivers provide sound quality that is clean and clear, with amazing L/R channel separation. Hearing aids, of course, help me with quality of hearing, but wearing the ZV I am picking up very high notes that I haven’t heard wearing other brands. That has made for some “WOW” moments.
Pairing the ZV to Alexa and my mobile too only seconds for each. Power, pairing, volume controls and receiving/ending phone calls are quite simple. They are black-on-black and small (like most other brands), so it takes a little practice to get familiar. For mobile phone use, the noise-cancelling mic is in a flip-down position on the left earphone.
The ZV 125 provides amazing music reproduction at a very affordable price. What is not to like?! Being exceptionally pleased with mine, I highly recommend it to you!

Large Marshall Sound in a Very Small Package
on July 11, 2022
Posted by: Cipher469
Many of us of a certain age have memories of rock concerts and stacks of Marshall amps/speakers displayed on the stage. The Willen provides a Marshall musical experience in a speaker you can hold in your hand. Looking for a Bluetooth speaker with good portability, I selected to try the Willen based on its specs and on the Marshall name. There’s been no disappointment in the choice!
Getting the speaker ready for a musical long haul takes only the time needed to fully charge the battery. When ready, Bluetooth pairing was one of the quickest I have experienced. To allow me to have music outside on the deck, Willen is paired with an Alexa Show in my living room. It works great out there, with no sputter experienced on other brands I have used. In addition, from the same base, I have tried it upstairs and out in my garage. Still works great! In fact, I am hearing high treble tones in some of my music (Pink Floyd for one example) that I don’t think I have heard through other speakers, even with my hearing aids (too many concerts). When I got hearing aids, I rediscovered sounds I hadn’t heard in a long time. Now, the Willen is taking enjoyment of my music to even another level!
Aside from the great musical output, there are other likeable features to the Willen. For example:
*To control the speaker operation, there is a single toggle on the top. Power on/off, volume up/down, and forward/backward functions are all done easily. In addition, if connected to your phone, the toggle can be used answer/end/reject a call.
*The speaker is “weatherized” to protect it while outdoors from dust and water.
*If you want to create your own wall of sound, additional Willens can be stacked and synchronized to further magnify your listening pleasure.
*Along with great output, the Willen welcomes input. It can be used as a speaker phone. Also, having it paired with an Echo, I can control function via speaking to Alexa whether inside or out. Google users should have the same positive experience.
*Battery power that lasts. It is estimated to provide about 15 hours on a full charge, and I have not tried to disprove it. What I can say for certain is I have not yet had to even think of recharge after having it in use for varying periods over several days.
By now, you already know I love the Marshall Willen and I highly recommend it for your listening pleasure! If you want to go put on a big show, buy more and stack them!

Great output at the potential cost of time.
on July 5, 2022
Posted by: Cipher469
When I used to do a lot of photo printing, Canon Pixmas were my “go to” printers. I started with a print only model and, as needs changed, progressed over time to all-in-one models. They all produced fast, exacting, and beautiful prints. All other functions performed exceptionally well, too. Given that history, I had those same expectations for the new Pixma TR8620a.
SETUP: Getting the device functional and connected to wi-fi is easily done by following instructions on the touchscreen located on the front pullup panel. All functions can be managed using the screen. Given the screen size (2.5”x4.0”) and central front location, it can easily be read without being in the up position. Panel size is approx. 3.5” x 15” and extends across the device front and must be open to perform most functions. Caution: Jutting out as it does, there is a potential for damage to the screen panel and/or user. Also, with the panel up, it blocks view of the lower paper carrier and print output.
LOADING: There are two paper loading areas: lower front and upper rear of printer. Unless you have especially small fingers, pulling out the front cassette for loading can be a bit of a challenge. Also, there is minimal access clearance between the cassette and the desk/table the printer is sitting on. The rear area is where photo paper is loaded. It is much more visible, and access is much more convenient.
PRINTING: Output is excellent whether b&w or color! Ink is evenly distributed and dries quickly. This is important, especially for printing photos.
COPYING: Works well and produces excellent product! However, one specific needs to be known: While the Pixma does copy on both sides, it is not a true duplexer. Manual intervention is required to turn over the original and reinsert it for copying side two. When using the document feeder, there is a metallic buzzing sound emitted (reminds me of a dentist office) during the paper feed process.
SCANNING: Works well and produces excellent product! However, there is no automatic duplex scanning. That is the only real issue I have ever had with Pixmas, but I let photo print quality override it. Again, when using the document feeder, expect the same buzzing sound.
PRINTING/COPYING SPEED: For the first two days of trying out these functions, the printing and copying of documents/photos were both done at excruciatingly slow speeds. The range was from 1:05 to 1:45 minutes for b&w documents to over 5:00 minutes for color photo. The third day of usage operational speeds in all categories were very satisfactory. The fourth day, speeds were slow again but not as bad as the first two days. Bottom line, there is an inconsistency in output speeds for printing and copying from day to day. Again, if you are using the document feeder, expect the buzzing sound.
If you do not care about the buzzing and highly variable production speeds and just want excellent printed/copied/scanned outcomes, the TR8620a could be a smart choice for you. Otherwise, I would suggest trying a different Canon Pixma model.

Can this camera do motion tracking for People ONLY? And stay still for everything else? Or will it track every movement. I'd rather have it track people only instead of cars driving by etc.

Yes. That option is in the Settings.

What is the usb connector for?

If, instead of using the electrical plug for power, you want to plug into a power source with USB outlets, you will use it for the connection.

Shark AI Robot VACMOP combines powerful vacuum suction and hard floor wet mopping for a complete clean, all in one robot. Features include: Shark suction power, Sonic Mopping that delivers 100 scrubs per minute for stuck-on stains, and AI Laser Navigation for precision cleaning.

Is this product safe to use on laminate floors? My floors do not recommend steam mopping, not sure if this product uses steam. Also, if it does, is one of the vacuums safe for my floors? Thanks, WMC

No worries. No steam involved. Just water alone or water mixed with the provided cleaning fluid.
