Listen to music for up to 10 hours with this black JBL portable speaker. It has a built-in Google Assistant that responds to voice commands, and it delivers rich stereo sound while you stream music via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. This water-resistant JBL portable speaker is made of durable materials, so you can use it outdoors safely.

Good for sound, bad for Smart function
on December 23, 2017
Posted by: TrueReviews20
JBL has been making great portable bluetooth speakers for a while and were one of the first to dominate the market. This speaker itself has really sound, but I'm very disappointed with the Google Assistant integration. It's very poorly integrated, takes forever to get going, and depends heavily on the app. To compare, Amazon's Alexa device basically has no dependence on an app after you set it up, aside from detailed customization and adding skills. Of course, that's more for the powered devices not for portable, but it is my understanding the portable speaker functions similarly. If you are looking for a portable bluetooth speaker, JBL is definitely a great brand to go for. However, I would suggest a model without the Google assistant function.
Pros:
Sound
Loudness
Design
Accessories
JBL includes a wall charger and cable which is nice since many high-end speakers only come with the cable. They are colored bright orange which does not match the sleek black look of the speaker. The speaker itself is heavy and feels like it's quality. The sound is superb. I was pleased with the balance of sound but the bass could be much. I felt it was either muddy or not packing enough punch at times. Although overall the sound quality is excellent and can fill a patio or medium size backyard. Perfect for small gatherings. Battery life has been good, I keep it plugged in when I'm outside.
Cons:
Google Assistant
Setup
Connections
Overall, Google Assistant is still behind Amazon's Alexa system. The gap is closing but the capabilities are still not fully matched. When it works, the response is quick and accurate. Setting up the speaker was a breeze but its requires a google account and the app on your phone. The big problem is that it has to connect to the app on your phone to work, it cannot work based on WiFi alone. This is a huge disappointed. The speaker turns on by itself after inactivity. When you turn it back on it has to reconnect to WiFi and your phone, which takes quite some time and doesn't always work. They really limited the capability of this speaker with these problems. It gets stuck trying to boot up and I cannot even connect via bluetooth to stream music to it. Very disappointing. There is no AUX in and no USB port to charge your phone or other device. Both are commonly found on other devices.

Good for heavy and frequent users

This is a good blender that is a huge upgrade to most average blenders on the market. The high-end blender market has come down to two dominating brands and it really comes down to what you're looking for out of your blender. The biggest advantage of this Blendtec Blender is the safe blade which allows you to clean thoroughly without slicing up your hand.
Pros:
Clean Look
Touch Screen
Illuminated
Easy-clean
Safe-touch blade
Easy storage
Pre-programmed functions
Setup is quick and easy, just need to clean the jar and wipe the base. I've owned a comparable blender so it was nice to have something to compare this blender's performance to. I first used the program functions to make a smoothie and then to make margaritas. I was happy the ice was crushed evenly and the motor did not heat up the blade so I did not have to stress over the Ice melting. The smoothies came out good but I think it will take more practice to figure out what order to add ingredients since the consistency was not uniform as like in my other blender, but overall it did well with that. I also made salsa in the blender using the touch slider. It took a little practice getting the setting right, but my salsa came out better than ever without uneven chunks or the "frothing" effect. The blender has illuminated touch which I was hesitant about, but has worked flawlessly so far. It makes it much more hygienic and very easy to clean. It's definitely heavy but not too bulky.
Cons:
Programs not perfect
Takes longer/more effort than similar blenders
There's not much to complain about this blender, especially if this is your first high-end blender. You definitely want to consider what you want out of your blender and what you'll be using it for most of the time. The program settings aren't that great in my opinion. It's probably more in your best interest to use the manual setting. However, it comes down to personal preference. I did feel that it was not as powerful or took more time than similar blenders. All in all, this is an excellent blender.

Keep your focus on the road with this Garmin Speak voice service device. Amazon Alexa is integrated and takes voice commands, so you can keep your hands on the wheel, and it connects to your vehicle's stereo system to provide spoken turn-by-turn directions. This Garmin Speak voice service device is compact, so it doesn't obstruct your view.

Not a true GPS unit
on November 23, 2017
Posted by: TrueReviews20
This is more of a cool product than a must have necessity. If you rely heavily on GPS use, I would highly suggest looking at another product. The Amazon Alexa integration is a great idea, but it misses on the GPS end. It's more of an Alexa device for your car, so if that is what you're looking for, this is definitely it.
Pros:
Small
Bluetooth and AUX (through phone)
Music integration
Full Alexa integration
Cons:
Small Screen
No battery
Adhesive mounting
Requires app/skill
It must first be noted that this device does not employ a traditional GPS format that shows details of the road your are on along with path markings. You only see the distance to the next turn/merge/exit etc. Voice functions are your number one source of turn-by-turn directions with the screen being more of a secondary guide. It is more similar to a heads up display many cars supplement navigation systems with. You are required to use the Garmin app and add the skill to Amazon Alexa, whether or not you have an echo or related Alexa device. You can speak directly to the device to perform many common Alexa commands such as choosing music, movie times, nearest coffee shop, weather and much more. I was able to easily location nearby gas stations and coffee shops along with hours. A big downside is the inability to begin navigation to a specific address without the app. You have to open the app manually and enter the specific address. This is no different than using typical apps on your phone, but a huge miss in terms of voice functionality. You can link your phone to AUX or bluetooth to receive audio through your car's speakers. This includes calling functionality as well, which is nice so you may stay hands free.
Overall, I don't think this has the best utility for car-use, especially for GPS. If you live in a large city or when driving through confusing new areas, lack of a full screen could be a real hassle. In addition, this device has NO battery! Very disappointing, since this means you will always be dependent on the plug. They do include a nice long cord, fortunately. It's still a good product since it incorporates Alexa flawlessly with only a few issues.

Good option for active enthusiasts
on November 23, 2017

This wireless set is definitely one of JLab's best products. I was not blown away by this set, but I do recommend considering this pair when looking for a set of wireless earbuds. They are lightweight and stay in place during heavy workouts. I was happy with the sound, but JLab falls short in some key areas. The fit was good, not great. Functionality is good, but still buggy. Simple to use touch sensors on each earpiece.
Setup: It took about 10 minutes to set up since you need to link the earpieces and overall is a little bit more involved than typical headset setups. Once I got them setup I was able to listen to music and make calls with no issues. The big problem here is getting the earpieces to sync. I've gone through the setup backwards and forwards and still cannot get both earpieces to turn on when powering on from the main earpiece. This has been frustrating and it should not be this difficult to configure.
Functionality: Overall I was impressed with the capabilities of this set. Each earpiece has a designated set of control functions (eg. Decrease volume on left earpiece, increase on the right). Unfortunately, the touch is very sensitive and I would find myself accidentally skipping tracks or pausing when trying to adjust the earpieces into my ears properly. The call feature worked well and I could hear the caller and they could hear me well. However, I only received caller sound on one earpiece. I'm not sure if this is how it is supposed to be or not, and have not directly been able to answer this question. I would much prefer the caller sound through both earpieces, especially when out in loud environments. They include a nice charging case that is the only way of charging the earpieces. The charging case itself is designed well since the USB charging cable is built in to the case and includes a charge level indicator. It mostly looks nice but the top cover gets dirty and riddle with fingerprints extremely easily. The earpieces themselves look nice.
Fit: Arguably even more important than sound quality in this kind of device. The fit was great and okay. It stayed in place extremely well during my workouts, even during high intensity, which was very important to me. However, I had trouble finding a perfect earpiece fit. I've had multiple JLab products and they always come with tons of earpieces that are supposed to help ensure better fit, but somehow they always fall short. I don't have weird shaped or sized ears, since the standard medium including with all other earbuds that include 3 sizes, have always been perfect. However, I was happy they were so lightweight and stationary during my workouts.
Sound: This is by far one of JLabs best sounding products. This set gets very loud. I was not happy with the consistency of the sound. The bass was muddy and did not balance with the vocals very well. The clarity was inconsistent and had no relation to the quality of the track being played. Overall, the sound is inconsistent, but when it does well, its does a good job. Definitely not the best for earbuds I've ever heard, but not the worst.
I recommend taking a look at these before making a final decision. I think many users would be really happy with these and I know they'll make my workouts more convenient. These are truly wireless and have definitely made me understand they are a game changer.

Good option for a budget home theater
on November 22, 2017
Posted by: TrueReviews20
Good projector for anyone looking to start home theater and on a budget. This projector has the basic features you need to start enjoying movies on the big screen. If you can stretch your budget, you might be able to really step up the quality and spec sheet with another projector, but this will do just fine. It’s really important to note this BenQ is very much for simple or stepping stone set-ups.
This projector has good picture quality and brightness when used in a very dark room. Aside from very high-end projectors, even minimal ambient lighting will ruin the picture.
Setup: Mounting takes a while since you need to coordinate the alignment with your screen. If you are using a table-top setup, you will have much more flexibility. It is very important to align the center of the lens to the center of the screen. This will take some time. The projector has built in keystone and alignment settings to perfect the image on the screen. All in all, after mounting and setup it only takes about 30 minutes to get everything going, much less if you aren’t a perfectionist. I was impressed with the minimal distance required to project and 100” image without being in the “short throw” projector class. This is great since many users might be working with small spaces or even apartment set-ups. Big plus. The projector manual also comes will a nice guide on screen sizes to projector placement. It lists up to 300” diagonal. Wow!
Connections: Two HDMI ports, VGA, and old fashioned analog video. More than enough for most users since you will likely be running your connections through an A/V receiver. I was able to link this up with an All-in-one remote with little issue. The IR remote does not have the best range and flexibility as one needs for a home theater projector. An IR blaster with universal remote would be very useful here.
Picture Quality: I was quite happy with the quality and brightness of this projector since it is an entry-level projector. Full HD showed nice detail of a wide array of colors. Blacks and greys were not terribly mute, but could be much better especially for a projector. There was not any noticeable motion blur during fast scenes or sports, which is a plus. Detail and clarity are impressive at this price point. The image is also bright, which can be a huge problem in some projectors. There are basic and advanced settings for all types of users to hone in on their perfect settings. Overall, the image quality is just about as good as my high-end Full HD LED TV from 2015.
There is no 3D capability on this projector. This is a big miss for some and in general an important feature to have. However, the quality of picture might make-up for the lack of 3D. Similar projectors in this price-level tend to sacrifice image quality and/or brightness for 3D capability. A hard to find feature on most projectors and impossible at this level in 2.35 Cinemascope capability. This is for true home theater junkies and I did not down this projector for missing this feature, but important to mention. Overall, I would recommend taking a look at this projector for a new home theater or those with a tight budget and/or tight space.

Step-up from basic editing, limited slideshow
on November 17, 2017
Posted by: TrueReviews20
I was looking for a program that would give me good editing ability as well as slideshow creation. This program does the former well and definitely a step-up from free or basic editing applications. I am not impressed the the slideshow features on this program and would say they are more basic. If you want both or heavy feature-rich slideshow capabilities, you should look elsewhere. Learning to use all the features as a beginner (or new to Adobe) may have a learning curve, but you should pick up on in quickly. This program is good for beginners and even more advanced users, but definitely not for professional use. Price-point is also very good for an Adobe Photoshop program.
The organization system is thorough and offers many options to categorize by place, people, date, and you can even assign ratings. It has features like Auto-Curate to find what it considers your best pics, this worked pretty well for the most part if you want to put together a quick album. There is also a good amount of knowledge-base available to help you learn what you may not yet know how to do.
In terms of editing, I was happy to see accessing basic and advanced features were streamlined and easy to adjust. Basic adjustments like Hue, Brightness, Contrast worked just as expected. It took me a little effort to get right, but the open-eyes editing feature was fun to play with and surprisingly effective. This is perfect for those moments where you only have one or two pictures that were almost perfect. Slight learning curve to perfect, but solid feature. Adjustment of facial features was weird, yet impressive. It gives you the ability to "turn a frown upside-down." You can adjust the eyes, nose, etc. It really gives you multiple fine controls of each feature that you would not be able to do without a special program and does it very well. I was very happy to use features like auto-select and brush to which are akin to tools in professional Photoshop. These also have the added benefit of "Guided Edits" which help you master or learn new techniques. Adobe really thought through each level of this program with the idea of multiple levels of users. Filters can be added then further edited to really unique images such as the well-known water brush look. The "painterly" option makes for great printing onto canvas.
You can easily share with friends and family through the integrated share feature in the program.
The slide-show option will create nice, basic slide show. It will display all your hard work in to a nice presentation, but the features are very limited. This is what bumped this down to 4-stars versus 5-stars. I'd actually give this 4.5 stars. For a really impressive slideshow, you'll have to use another program.
Overall, highly recommended. Great price point, tons of features, and perfect for almost every non-professional user.

Perfect for active lifestyle and workouts
on November 13, 2017
Posted by: TrueReviews20
Plantronics has been doing bluetooth right for a long time and they have continued with this set as well. I was concerned about audio quality, but I'm overall happy with the quality.
Pros:
Durable
Quick and easy setup
Good Battery life
Strong bluetooth connection
Lightweight
Good Sound Quality
Proper fit
Mic/Hands-free calling
Carrying Case
USB cable
I was able to fit these perfectly with the included ear tips. I have pretty normal/average ears so this usually is not a problem. However, there are other brands that include 12 sizes and I cannot get close to a comfortable fit, so Plantronics wins here. It took no time to get these up and running with a fairly simple multifunction control. They included all the standard features like hands-free calling which comes in handy during workouts. Overall the look is nice, nothing special. They are lightweight yet stay in place so I don't have to fiddle with them constantly. Even during my sprints I have no issue with them staying in place. The battery has already gotten me through 4 1+hour long workouts, so I'm very content with that. I never strayed too far from the source, but Bluetooth signal reached at least 25feet without issue. I also used these doing some housework and they were nice and comfortable. The sound is good, especially for an activewear set. Mostly balanced backed by good bass that doesn't wash out the vocals. They get loud enough to listen without issue in a crowded gym. Includes a nice carrying case and USB cable (no charger). Excellent set at an even better price point.
Cons:
No AUX port
Minimal color options
Inline multifunction button
There weren't too many cons here. I do like the flexibility of having an AUX port in case you forget to charge the earphones or the die on you. It's not commonly found these days but would have been a nice plus, but not a deal breaker. I'm not too impressed with the color options, could be much better. I prefer to have the multifunction buttons integrated into the earpieces so there isn't a feel of unequal weight. Fortunately these are light so it's not too noticeable. These are not around-ear so it would be a design challenge, but would have been much nicer.
I recommend these since they are quality, with good features, good sound, and priced very well compared to other earphones that are much more expensive (for absolutely no good reason).

Simple system for basic security
on November 10, 2017
Posted by: TrueReviews20
Overall, this is a decent system. I would not consider it the best, nor the ideal set up for those who are looking for an true surveillance system. I would recommend this system to users who want a simple, easy to setup security system that will provide basic protection and coverage. This is likely closer to 3.5stars, but again, this will be a relatively good system for basic users.
I only recommend this product if you are looking for a wireless system and have absolutely zero desire for a wired system. At this price point for 2 cameras, you can get much better WIRED systems with many more cameras.
Setup: I decided to first set up the system before installing the cameras. This allowed me to see the best mounting locations and make real-time adjustments. I highly recommend doing this format of setup (which is also stated in the manual). It took about 30-40minutes to get it all setup including on my device. I spent a couple more hours mounting the 2 cameras (however, length of camera install is highly subjective). It is very important to keep in mind these units need to be recharged, so your mounting location should be easily accessible. I would recommend connecting these to a continuous power supply. There is an optional (additional cost) solar panel accessory, or you can connect to a regular power outlet with aftermarket charger. When choosing a location, its best that you do not mount too high that you cannot see faces, cars, objects easily, but not too low such that the cameras cam be damaged, broken, or stolen. Placing under eaves offers extra weather protection, but may effect lighting which can effect image quality.
Connection: It is very important to set the base in a central location to the cameras, not the home. I did not run into to connectivity issues within 200ft. My internet speed in 100mb/s, did not have any App connection problems. You must have an available Ethernet port to use this device. A big plus is the ability to connect an external hard drive to the device for local backup of recorded material.
Image Quality: Generally good. You are at the mercy of lighting throughout the day and the amount of direct light on the camera. Shadows can really washout the image quality. You should aim for locations that are very well lit throughout the day and night. The quality truly ranges from poor to excellent. For face recognition the camera has to be mounted below 8ft and within 10-15ft of the path, in my setup. I made sure the cameras received a lot of light at night and were not covered in shadow most of the day. I was able to regularly identify the delivery guys and anyone walking towards the front door. For garage area coverage I could easily identify make and model but colors were hit and miss (ex. black vs blue vs grey) at times. License plate detection was very difficult unless the camera was pointed downward right up to the garage door. ID could only be done with a lot on non-reflective light with a car very close to the garage door (and with a front plate). For the backyard could can easily keep an eye on the dog and their antics. All in all the image quality allows me to keep an eye on the house and surrounding and provides an extra layer of protection. It also provides a useful deterrent to criminal activity.
Night Vision: Unless there is a lot of light shining on your coverage area, the night vision image quality is bad. In general, night vision quality is never that great unless you are on a high-end system, that will still employ good lighting for better image quality. I will say this night vision is worse than some others I've seen.
Additional features: The siren is nice to have in case you need to scare aware a potential criminal or the nuisance of neighborhood vandals. It is definitely loud, but probably not as loud as a security system outdoor siren. I really enjoy the two way communication feature to ward away solicitors and give the impression of being home when you are not. However, a doorbell camera system would still be better since you are relying on motion detection for this feature. Motion detection was hit or miss. It definitely picks up stray movement that is completely useless. Not a big fan. Email alerts and push notifications came thru in real time, but definitely get annoying.
Summary: This is best if you want to keep an eye on an apartment/condo/vacation home with no frills and simple setup. For basic surveillance, it will do what you need. It's not nearly best option for security cameras since wired is still far superior in every aspect. However, those would are looking for a simple setup, wireless connection, and general security/viewing of the home this system is a good option. I would also consider getting a 4 camera system to improve the coverage and implement a close up and distance view setup. Arlo is one of the first in this game and they are probably doing it the most right in the wireless game so far.

4.5 Star, nice updates, good shave
on October 28, 2017
Posted by: TrueReviews20
This shaver is a more of a 4.5 star product. It gives you a nice shave that is about as close as an electric shave can get. You can use it wet/dry with a variety of features. Turbo mode is a great addition to those who have limited time in the morning or for a quick shave before a night out.
Pros:
Flexible options
Cleaning Base
Good shave
Turbo Mode
Included trimmer attachment
Personally, I believe there is nothing like a standard razor shave to give a close, clean shave in no time. I like the ease and comfort of an electric shave but always preferred to go with razor. However, this Philips shaver has changed my mind. As my schedule continues to get busier and morning time more limited, I am happy to have this shaver ready for use. I can use it in the shower on the weekends or dry with water or shave gel on the weekdays. I really enjoy the flexibility of using this shaver with something or nothing on my face. I prefer to have at least water on my face when shaving so this is perfect. To quicken the shave time, the Turbo mode definitely gives that extra power to shave more quickly, like a razor shave. Along with the good multi-motion shaving heads, I can get a good shave faster without the hassle of a proper razor shave. The included trimmer attachment is nice to have and pretty standard, nothing special. The cleaning base works well and is nice to have the shaver ready to go with minimal effort. Overall, this is a good shaver that does what it should. Philips has added some nice features that might help some die-hard razor shavers want to switch or supplement their routine with this shaver.
Cons:
Cord
Battery Life
Travel case
Overall, there is not much to complain about. The battery is supposed to last 60 minutes which they think is 17 shaves. That is quite far-fetched and will probably last 10shaves, depending on how often you shave and length of the beard of course. It takes about one hour of charge for 60 minutes of use, so the charger is not very efficient. Philips still employs a non-proprietary cord. I would like to see the move to a USB-type charger, but their could be design limitations. In addition, you cannot use the shaver while it is plugged in. Numerous Philips devices have this pitfall and it needs to change.

WiFi Control, quick setup, needs improvement

I have used MyQ devices for a few years now and they are generally good products. I have installed wired MyQ gateways on multiple garages and they work really well. This devices allows you to use WiFi integration to remotely access your garage door versus older MyQ devices that were hardwired Ethernet based.
Look: The device looks nice, won't be a real eyesore in the garage (it is a garage anyway). There are two boxes, one small to mount on the garage door itself, one larger to mount next to garage door opener.
Setup: Pretty quick and straightforward. You have to create an account and then you can utilize the app for remote access. It must be noted that the main device requires a power outlet nearby. It will also require a strong enough WiFi connection to your router in the garage. I got everything up and running in about 30 minutes.
App: The app is not very good. It looks old and outdated. Poor user interface and is not intuitive. The available features are slim. Chamberlain is really messing this part up since it is the main use of this device. It absolutely does what it is supposed to, it will open and close the garage door and let you know the status. It crashes/freezes more often than I'd like. On a positive note, you can load multiple garage doors on to one app so you can control multiple garages/homes from one location. This is really nice and does not require multiple accounts.
Smart Home: This updated version has more smart home integration. This worked well for the most part with Alexa. It took a little effort getting set up, but has not had any issues since then.
Miscellaneous: I hooked this device up to an older Chamberlain and newer LiftMaster garage door opener. Setup and control was good on both. It has the flexibility of working with most brands going back to 1993, nice to see that. Overall, the quality of the device and app (as well as their use) are not necessarily matched to this price point. If you are in the market for a new garage door opener, you can probably get it in a bundle for much cheaper than buying separate. If you are just looking to add remote access, I would explore other devices that can do the same OR the wired MyQ device. There is absolutely no difference in functionality between wired and wireless, it comes down to your ability to connect to ethernet, since the opener range is likely more than your WiFi connection.
This gets a four star review because it does its job and the device itself is quality unlike the app.

Step into virtual reality with this Oculus Rift S PC-powered headset. The advanced optics produce a sharp display with bright, vivid colors, and Oculus Insight tracking removes the need for external sensors to convert movements into virtual reality. This Oculus Rift S PC-powered headset has a fit wheel that secures the headset with a quick twist.

Does Google Earth or Wander work well with this? Can you move around in street view better than the previous version?

Google Earth works great. Very fine controls and immersive. Image quality is mediocre but best you can get these days. Streetview is relatively easy to control but definitely lags

Always know what’s happening at your door with the SimpliSafe Video Doorbell Pro. Its crystal-clear 1080p HD video and 162° field of view give you a clear shot of your property 24/7. Two-way audio lets you hear and speak to unwanted guests (and welcomed ones too) - even when you're not home. Have the SimpliSafe App? The Video Doorbell Pro will send instant alerts whenever someone approaches. And with Smart Person Detection, it can tell the difference between people, vehicles and animals. That means you only get the alerts that matter. Plus, when backed by 24/7 professional monitoring, you’ll have experts who are ready to request emergency dispatch when you need it most. This camera is designed for all weather extremes—so you're still protected in rain and snow. (Compatible with the SimpliSafe Gen 3 security system. Requires Wi-Fi (2.4GHz) and existing wired doorbell setup with mechanical chime and a transformer with 8-24 VAC, 30VA max. Not compatible with digital chimes.)

So if I have a receptacle right under to power the doorbell but do not have a existing chime or transformer would the doorbell work?

If you have a receptacle you would be able to wire in a new transformer. You don't necessarily need to have a chime. However, without a transformer wired up to where you're mounting the doorbell camera, you will not be able to use this. There is no included power supply. You need to buy a transformer that can wire into that Power or plug into it. Then run a wire up to the camera. However you'd be defeating the purpose of this camera because it could easily be unplugged rendering it completely useless.

Stream your favorite shows on this 60-inch Hisense television. Its 3840 x 2160 resolution and 8 ms response time bring scenes to life, and 4K upscaling transforms lower quality video into HD resolution. This Hisense television is equipped with HDMI inputs to connect to a gaming console or Blu-ray player.

Owned 1 month and tv is very sluggish when flipping thru channels, & now it will freeze up on a channel, and I physically have to unplug the tv power cord to get it to shut off. Also volume will randomly go from 0-50 without touching a button. ????

It is very likely the remote itself, unless it's the IR receiver. Change your remote batteries and clean it. Make sure no buttons are sticking. I'd also contact Hisense warranty support even if you're outside the warranty period. Hope this helps.

My speaker does not talk back to me...why?

It has to connect to the app and WiFi. Make sure the WiFi light at the bottom is on and the speaker has connect to your phone. If the 4 lights at the top are flashing, it means it has not connected. Sometimes you have to turn it off, launch the app, then turn back on and give it a few minutes.

Does the Garmin require a SIM Card? Or does it connect to the internet through your cell phone?

No SIM required, it uses your phone for everything including internet connection. It relies on the app.
