622GW and associated apps greatly improved

Last year I got the NextBase 522GW dashcam which I was impressed with, the design was innovative, and it was well built with really good HD video quality. Since then I have made a dashcam part of the mandatory add on accessory for any vehicle I own. With the 522GW model the only fault I really had was essentially with the software/app and connectivity/download speed. When I saw the new 622GW 4K Dash Cam model I figured I would give it a try and hand down the 522GW to my daughter.
The 622GW looks very similar to the 522GW model, except they have fixed both the software and any connectivity issues with the newer model. The 622GW takes stunning 4K (3840x2160 30fps) video, the colors are crisp, and rival video you would take with any other 4k capable camera, it is simply amazing. There is also a 60fps (frames per second) mode in HD resolution and a slow motion 120fps mode. Any way you look at it the video quality is great, and you also have the ability to record both high and lower resolution video at the same time. Now higher resolution or frames per second video lead to large files and records 1- or 3-minute videos, with the latter producing almost 1GB 4K video (H264 MPEG-4 AVC MP4 files). Image stabilization is also included in the 622GW model which compensates for vibration in the video, it seems to work pretty well.

The camera is feature laden, with built in GPS which records telemetry such as coordinates and speed (both of which can be configured to display on the recordings). It also has a shock sensor and some unique S.O.S. features which can be configured to notify emergency services (via your smartphone) if you have an accident. This comes with a complimentary one-year subscription. This feature seems to have evolved from last year and I will consider leaving it enabled as it could come in handy.

The DeLonghi Digital All-in-One Combination Coffee and Espresso Machine has a decent footprint, but considering it both creates coffee and espresso it is really quite compact. The unit looks good on my kitchen counter, most of the unit is black plastic, with stainless steel panels. It looks on par with a professional unit you would see at your local coffee house. Having a system which allows you to brew coffee and espresso at the same time is a great feature. The digital interface is pretty handy with controls including Bold, Auto, hour and minute buttons, they call it a touchscreen, however it is really just a digital display with buttons. The controls are a bit convoluted but once you learn how to use them they are effective. The permanent filter for brewing drip coffee is handy and eliminates the need for paper filters. The coffee pot holds about 10 cups of coffee and the water reservoir has a small clear plastic window on the right-hand side to view the water level. The warming tray on the drip side of the house can be kept on for different periods of time or even left off.
Creating espresso, lattes and cappuccinos is fairly easy on the left-hand side of the machine. I viewed a few videos to figure out how to make each one of these beverages and fully utilize this portion of the machine.
Overall, I am happy with this unit, it provides a good deal of functionality and value. I am figuring out new ways to use it every morning to enjoy my favorite hot beverages.
Creating espresso, lattes and cappuccinos is fairly easy on the left-hand side of the machine. I viewed a few videos to figure out how to make each one of these beverages and fully utilize this portion of the machine.

sleek looking, performs well

Need a simple, good looking toaster to complement your other stainless steel appliances ? This GE two slice toaster seems to straddle the mid way point for toasters. While nothing fancy here, it does have a bagel and frozen setting which seems to be really functional for each of those type of toasting applications. A turn nob is used to set the "shade" of your toast as they term it. Each setting can be used to toast to your preference, I found that four and a half was the sweet setting for me and required no adjustment other then pressing the bagel button for thicker pieces of bread or an actual bagel half.
As with any new small electric appliance a slight odor is present the first few times the unit heated up, however that went away after about five cycles and this unit was ready to toast.

smaller unit, basic air fryer

The Bella Pro Series Air Fryer does not over do it. While it is capable it keeps it simple, manual temperature set along with a manual timer. The capacity is good for a decent batch of french fries or one, possibly two chicken breasts. I have a larger Bella Air Fryer unit with all the bells and whistles, however I actually like this one better as the heating element is 1200 watts in comparison the larger unit which is substantially bigger but I feel is underpowered. This is is great little air fryer and performs well.

This Mr. Coffee unit has a bare bones price; however it looks classy with stainless steel, is programmable and has a strong brew mode. What can you say ? it makes a good, traditional pot or cup of coffee. The screen filter makes it easy to use and cost effective. Everything looks efficiently engineered and looks more expensive then it is. Auto brew time and auto shutoff are good features.

effective security suite

I have used products from Malwarebytes way back to their days of the Malware removal tool before they even entered the full-fledged Antivirus, security suite market. Their products have always been effective for follow up cleansing of suspected infections. The Malwarebytes Premium suite builds on that tradition. The installation on my Windows PC was a simple, lightweight process. Scans were quick and there were various options that could be configured in the plethora of configurable settings including advanced exploit protection settings with application hardening, advanced memory, application behavior and java protections. You can also configure Allow lists, essentially white listing a file or folder, websites, internet access by application and previously detected exploits.
Overall, the product is effective, the user interface (UI) is simple, almost primitive, there are several themes you can apply to change the basic look.
The Android version, although not specifically designed for tablets, included some interesting features including a Privacy audit function to scan your installed applications for what permissions they have been granted. I also like Security News section which included links to newsworthy security related articles.
Happy with the product(s) and see real value in this protection suite, both on the PC and Android platforms I installed it on.

The Belkin Boost Charge Dual USB-A Car Charger, packs 24 watts of power, charging devices at their maximum capacity. This works well for quick charging phones, tablets or other device that love that juice. It is well built and comes with a high quality USB-A to Lightning cable. I even found the cable sufficient for a data/CarPlay connection, which is not the norm for lesser cables. In any case this provided reliable charging to two devices simultaneously. My only complaint is that the charger appears to have a little more height than typical car chargers. Frankly I prefer the lower profile car chargers as they do not tilt or are prone to being displaced. However I suspect the added heft to the charger has to do with the wattage capacity.

My daughter is the coffee “expert” so when I was seeking a new brewer for her the Nespresso Vertuo
NEXT Coffee & Espresso Maker was on my list. The unit is very modern looking with a large capacity clear water reservoir on the rear of the unit which, allowing you to brew several servings and easily see the water you have availalbe. My daughter was very happy with the quality of the coffee brewed and the pods supplied with the unit. The selection of coffee varieties is extensive (see the picture I included in this review). The unit was very easy to setup, we were brewing expresso and regular coffee in short order. The unit has a Bluetooth feature for future use, even though that function is not ready – it is nice to know that capabilities will be added via technology. There is an adjustable cup holder in the front for cups/mugs of various sizes. The pods are easily installed in the unit, with a manual level which locks in the pod, when finished with the pod it ejects into a disposal bin within the unit automatically, gimmicky but somewhat functional. Overall I am happy with this unit and look forward to brews every morning from this unit.

The Night owl video surveillance system consists of a DVR with wireless networking capability that integrates well with the remote cameras. Night owl build mature, professional grade surveillance systems widely used at home and business. Set up was a breeze using their app, I also mirrored the setup process by connecting the DVR unit via HDMI to my TV. The wireless cameras synced pretty well on first try as long as they were fairly close to the main wireless AP/DVR. Having a dedicated AP/DVR separates the video traffic from you wireless network. The cameras are "always on" and produce crystal clear video.
The mobile application works well, with an intuitive interface including a timeline view, the functionality of the application is mature and interacts with the network DVR well.
So much for the superlatives, the system even though it is wireless from a networking perspective, the cameras still require a power source. The rectangular AC Adaptor does not appear to be weatherproof and will not fit in a weather sheltered outdoor AC outlet. The cameras are weatherproof, but requires some work to mount. After setup, ensure that the cameras continue to connect at your final mounting location, since the cameras should be permanently installed.

Handy mini wireless keyboard

I often find myself struggling with the on screen keyboard for my iPhone and iPad. The Logitech K380 keyboard solves a number of problems for me. First off, it is compact yet easy to type on (using it for this review right now). My fingers naturally pressed the tactile and responsive keys, unlike other portable keyboards I have used in the past. Logitech definitely got the ergonomics down pat on this model. It also includes, dedicated buttons to switch between devices, this was especially handy when using with my iPad and iPhone. The brightness and volume key worked well with both of the devices I mentioned. Although the Play/Pause, FF and REW keys did not seem to function on my iPhone, either using the iOS YouTube app or the built in Photos app when playing a video.
The keyboard runs on 2 AAA batteries and they claim 24 month battery life which seems pretty incredible (and obviously I have no way of verifying that). But given that there is a separate on/off switch on the side, you can power the keyboard off.
Overall I am pretty happy with this Bluetooth keyboard. Certainly this would be more than adequate to use with any of my devices. You could get by with going on a trip with just this keyboard and your mobile device and have confidence that if you had to type anything substantial, this keyboard would be more that adequate to handle the situation.
