Although I have been satisfied with my current router it is now over three years old and I have been looking for a replacement so that I could benefit from the next-gen WiFi access available on my newest laptop and cellphones. I also wanted the ability to connect to my LAN faster than the 1Gb that I was limited to by my existing router since I have two NAS units that offer port-bonding and/or 2.5Gb ports. Finally, in addition to my current dual-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz) access I wanted the option to expand to the 6GHz band to bump up the speed. The Nighthawk checks all the boxes for me.
Setup was straight forward and everything you need is in the box. I like the style of the device with its pop-up wings that eliminate the spider-leg like antenna array of my existing router. The overall aesthetic is sleek and somehow reminds me of a Star Wars spaceship! There are no proper setup instructions in the box, only a quick start card that advises you to load the app on your phone. It was easy to locate and install on my Android device and immediately launched into the setup routine. This went OK. However I had to go through the steps twice before my cellphone connected to the router and even then it chose 2.4GHz even though my Pixel 6 supports WiFi6E. I had to complete the last part of the installation manually.
After everything loaded and was setup the app upgraded the firmware and rebooted. This process took long enough that I was beginning to worry but it did finally come back on-line and I was able to connect with my phone and also with my laptop (5G). The app itself is not as full featured as the web interface but still provides a number of useful administrative and reporting tools.
As I began testing I noticed that my browser was being blocked from several sites that I commonly connect to and I discovered that the only way I could correct the problem was to turn off the built in security via the app.
I did some extensive testing and am pleased with the results. Connecting to the 6GHz band has resulted in some amazing speed increases. Even the devices connected via 5G are noticeably faster and the range is slightly improved as well.
Overall, this router is a perfect fit for my requirements. Given my past experience with Netgear products I expect that it will get even better with time and I look forward to using those new features.

Samsung has a winner on its hands with their new Galaxy Buds 2 Pro earbuds. The product borrows the charger-in-a-case design that is so convenient for on the go use. The size and shape of the case is perfect for slipping into a pants pocket and provides a secure closure so that the buds don't fall out.
The packaging is austere providing only a USB-C cable and the case with the buds in the box. That is very common in my experience but be aware that you will need to provide your own
charging brick. Speaking of charging, it is reasonably fast and there is an external LED that will show you when you are done.
I was extremely pleased with the Bluetooth pairing process. It was virtually immediate with our Samsung phone and is initiated by simply opening the case. The app was easy to install and offers a comprehensive feature set to manage.
As for the sound - it is very good. For the first time I found a set of earbuds with a set of tips that actually work for my wife! They provide an effective seal against outside noise that doesn't feel "stuffie". That seal along with the ANC feature provides an excellent listening experience with music or YT videos. We found the 360 audio feature to provide a less satisfying experience as it creates kind of an over-processed effect to the audio. Fortunately you can choose to disable it.
The overall listening impression is one of satisfying balance. The bass is not boomy and the rest of the frequency band was very good without coloring the sound. There are some preconfigured equalizer settings you can choose to engage but we we preferred to leave the settings at "normal".
In conclusion, these buds are a joy to use and I highly recommend that you give them a listen.

Sony's new XE300 Portable X-Series Bluetooth Speaker is a complete homerun! It was super simple to setup and sync to our phones (Samsung S10+and Pixel 6) which has not always been the case with other products we have tried. It is solidly built with a rubber coating that protects both the controls and the charging port that allows you to confidently take it outdoors. Charging is via a USB-C plug that is behind a protective flap and the battery life is very good lasting for several hours. The Blue Tooth range is quite good and operates flawlessly.
The device can also act as a speakerphone for your cellphone although the internal microphone doesn't provide the best quality.
And the sound! This thing has amazing bass for its size and Sony has somehow designed the speaker to spread the sound around in almost 360 degrees which means that not only can it fill a room but it is even effective outside. The overall sound quality is well balanced with good midrange and high frequencies to complement the bass and keep it from sounding "boomy".
Overall, I highly recommend this speaker to anyone in the market for a portable speaker that won't make you compromise on sound quality!

The Nixplay Smart Photo Frame is a home run! The unit is solidly built, well packaged and has an outstanding app to manage its advanced features. The display is crisp and bright and the frame is very light weight but not flimsy.
I had the unit assembled and the app downloaded in minutes. I was able to create my first playlist of media and start playing pictures quickly. I was able to share access with my wife so that she could add photos remotely from her phone. Everything just worked!
The unit offers a surprisingly comprehensive list of features that allowed us to dial in our display and transition preferences with ease.
The only con that I can even think of is the stand. If you choose to you can wall mount the frame but I wanted to be able to move it from room to room and so assembled the stand instead. The stand works but the frame is basically just leaning against it and we have managed to knock it loose a couple of times (the frame has a touch screen and so you do interact with it). I would like to see a slight redesign that somehow provided a more secure way to attach the frame to its stand.
Nonetheless - I can't recommend the Nixplay strongly enough.

The Dell XPS 13 Plus offers a powerful Intel i7 processor, a 512GB SSD drive and a generous 16GB of RAM all packaged in a VERY slim light-weight package. It boasts an excellent OLED 5k display that is bright and offers fully saturated colors. Battery life is good however the unit only offers two USB-C ports for external connectivity and you will be tying one of those up when you are charging.
I expected some trade-offs when you cram everything into such a small form factor but I was blown away by the Nx On Waves MaxxAudio Pro speakers system built into this tiny powerhouse. The sound quality exceeds much larger laptops that I own and I highly recommend you give them a listen.
However, the keyboard is a little disappointing. For me, the key travel is pretty shallow and there is very little differentiation between the keys so typing can be difficult. Also, you may find that you have to use the back light control key often as the key legends don't offer enough contrast to be legible! The incorporated click-pad can also be confusing as there are NO markings of any kind to indicate its location. A simple silkscreened outline or a textured area would have been very welcome.
Having said that, the laptop is still a nicely packaged collection of strong technology and its compact size and light weight means that it I will be using it on future airplane flights!

The GE Stand Mixer is a solid entry into their kitchen counter-top line but suffers from a few fit-and-finish issues.
The unit has a nice heft and the stainless mixing bowl includes a plastic protective cover with a port that allows you to add ingredients while the mixer is running in a safe and convenient manner. The unit is well balanced so tipping the mixer motor back is easy and feels stable. I also prefer the speed dial to the competitors' "stick shift". The motor seems to have sufficient power but runs a little louder than I expected.
My concern is related to the mixing wisk, paddle and bread hooks. They appear to be made of pot metal and look like they aren't going to last that long. The paddle and bread hook also lack the vinyl coating that I am accustomed to. I have had problems in the past with putting similar items in the dishwasher as they seem prone to "pitting" so I will be hand washing these.
In spite of these concerns I would still recommend that any potential buyers include this on their short list because the price is very good and GE is a reputable manufacturer.

Lightweight solution modestly configured.

The Dell Inspiron 3891 desktop with the Intel Core i3 processor is a decent entry-level product but is definitely not designed for any serious workloads. The i3 processor with only 8GB of RAM can handle modest browsing, Email and light workloads but it runs out of gas for any more demanding tasks.
Another observation is that everything feels very light weight. The system unit itself has very little heft and the plastic front panel feels really flimsy. The optical drive tray appears particularly fragile and must be handled carefully. The keyboard and mouse are likewise very light although the keyboard does have satisfying key travel and is comfortable.
The unit does offer a substantial number of expansion ports (8 USB ports, 1 HDMI, 1 Ethernet) but again I would hesitate to load it up too much.
Like all new units the PC comes with Windows 11 so there may be a bit of a learning curve. Initial startup and configuration went smoothly and I had no issues connecting to my WiFi or setting up my HP printer.
In conclusion this PC works fine so long as the usage is casual (good fit for home or for the kids) however you might want to consider a model with an i5 or an i7 and additional RAM if you want some breathing room.

A solid vocal microphone for singers too!

I got the Shure MV7X Cardioid Dynamic Podcast XLR Microphone hoping to solve a specific problem and it has exceeded my expectations!
I perform in an acoustic band. We use multiple condenser microphones for multiple singers and to amp up our acoustic guitars. These sound excellent but they are so sensitive that it can be very challenging to avoid feedback. In some venues we can't use them at all! So, I set out to find a cardioid dynamic microphone to use in those specific circumstances.
I initially chose the industry standard SM57 and SM58 microphones but was disappointed by the lack of sensitivity. You have to "eat the mic" in order to get any reasonable volume from them.
That's when I discovered the Shure MV7X XLR Microphone. The tone and sensitivity are perfect for me! Importantly, the off axis sound rejection is very good. This means that there is almost no bleed-through from other performers standing next to you and no noise picked up from the back of the microphone. This has almost eliminated our feedback issues while still providing a nicely balanced vocal response. The mic requires almost no EQ and seems to inherently focus on the right frequencies for vocals.
The unit is built of metal and has a broadcast style mount. This means that it might not fit on an older microphone stand even with the included adapter. I chose to use a newer stand and now everything mounts securely.
In summary - this is an excellent tool to add to your performing arsenal and at this price is a no-brainer!

The Lucyd Lyte Bluetooth Audio Sunglasses concept is intriguing but fails in execution.
The glasses themselves are solidly constructed and come with a novel case but everything else is a disappointment.
The audio quality is not good. Although they provide plenty of volume it is tinny and unfocused. Anyone sitting around you can hear the sound coming from the glasses.
The location of the command buttons almost guarantees that you will press them by accident if you take them on or off or even just reach up to adjust them on your face.
Each bow is an independent piece and so you must use the proprietary charger to charge the batteries and charging is very slow.
Even the lenses are uncomfortable. The polarization is exaggerated and they are very dark.
At this price point my advice is to spend a little more money and get a product that is better designed.

As an owner of the previous generation of Amazon's Echo Buds I was excited to try this second generation of the product. I was particularly interested in the Noise Canceling features and the Alexa integration.
The product packaging is clever and well organized. The box is designed to present both the product and the instructions for its installation in a logical and step-by-step fashion.
The buds are nestled in an a rectangular case with rounded edges that is pocket friendly. The case also acts as the charging base and provides the ability to provide additional charging boosts to the buds whenever they are in the case. One word of caution - the lid latch is pretty weak so you may find that it opens on its own when you insert or remove the case from your pocket.
If you already have the Alexa app on your phone please be certain to follow the instructions and update it before you try to set up the buds. I wasted a lot of time because I failed to do this initially!
Be prepared to pretty much allow full access permissions to your phone while installing the buds. Failure to do so will result in reduced functionality.
The earbuds come with a number of ear tip options. Choosing the best fit is critical in order to assure the Noise Cancelling feature works well. The buds do feature a pass-through function that is very handy if you need to momentarily suspend the noise cancelling to hear the outside world.
The audio quality is good. Not great, but good. The sound is aided by the noise cancellation feature. However, I must stress again how important it is to choose the best ear-tip fit to get the best from these buds.
Controls are solid if somewhat uninspired. The customizable tap interface is serviceable but I do miss the ability to control the volume by waving my hand that the Gen 1 buds offered.
In summary - the Amazon Echo Buds are a pedestrian addition to the in-ear market that offers good integration of the Alexa platform. They deserve your consideration if you are in the market.

One word of caution - the lid latch is pretty weak so you may find that it opens on its own when you insert or remove the case from your pocket.
If you already have the Alexa app on your phone please be certain to follow the instructions and update it before you try to set up the buds. I wasted a lot of time because I failed to do this initially!
Be prepared to pretty much allow full access permissions to your phone while installing the buds. Failure to do so will result in reduced functionality.
The earbuds come with a number of ear tip options. Choosing the best fit is critical in order to assure the Noise Cancelling feature works well. The buds do feature a pass-through function that is very handy if you need to momentarily suspend the noise cancelling to hear the outside world.
The audio quality is good. Not great, but good. The sound is aided by the noise cancellation feature. However, I must stress again how important it is to choose the best ear-tip fit to get the best from these buds.
Controls are solid if somewhat uninspired. The customizable tap interface is serviceable but I do miss the ability to control the volume by waving my hand that the Gen 1 buds offered.
In summary - the Amazon Echo Buds are a pedestrian addition to the in-ear market that offers good integration of the Alexa platform. They deserve your consideration if you are in the market.

There is no mic stand included. There is a mic mount that follows the familiar U shaped broadcast format. It has both a standard thread and an adapter for smaller mount points.

The unit has Wi-Fi built in. It connected to my 2.4Ghz network without any issues. No special bridging hardware was needed.

The battery is easily removable and has a mini-usb style charging port. I believe it is Lithium Ion and no separate charging stand is needed.

what are the dimensions of the keypad side? my front door has some designs on it that might be in the way of the keypad.

Does the bolt come out on the right side or the left? My door opens to the left, so I need it to come out on the right side of the outside piece.
The design allows for both right hand and left hand doors. The bolt is notated with an "up" stamp and the mechanism has a locking knob that has emblems on both sides of the interior panel so that you can twist it either clockwise or counter-clockwise to work the bolt.
