Let me start by saying that this is my first Alienware machine. I've always thought they were pretty cool, but never experienced one for myself until now. Let's start the review.
Packaging:
My Alienware M17 was packed in a pretty sturdy white box that was shipped in another shipping box. When opening the main box, I found the laptop, power cord and a couple (2) inserts about the brand. This differed from many other experiences with laptops as I usually find loads of paper work and CDs in the boxes of laptops I've purchased before. To be honest, it was kind of refreshing. Not a whole bunch of stuff to go through. Just plugged up the machine and turned it on.

Presentation:
As I said, this is my first Alienware and also my first gaming laptop. Being the 17.3 inch version, I thought it would be super heavy, but was surprised how light it was in comparison to other laptops I've had with similar sized screens. The finish is beautiful. The Lunar Light is not as white as I thought it would be, which is nice. The keyboard and mouse layout also finishes strong. The whole thing has this futuristic yet simple design. I'm very impressed with the overall look of this laptop.
As I said, this is my first Alienware and also my first gaming laptop. Setup:
OK, so make sure you have some time on your hands here. Beyond setting up Windows for the first time, there seemed to be a ton of updates that needed to be installed. I probably did the whole "check for updates, install, reboot" about ten times and that's not exaggerating. There is a decent mix of Windows, Alienware and Nvidia updates that you have to get through before you get the "This PC is up to date" message on the respective updaters. Took a few hours, but I'm glad I got it done before installing anything else.

General Use and Updates:
This thing moves. From power button to Windows login, we're talking about 5 seconds. After getting myself familiar wit the Alienware Command Center, I got all of my keys and the other RGB spots on the laptop setup. Software installs are blazing fast on this thing. This laptop does not come with an optical drive so if you have software on a CD, you'll need a USB disc drive to install it. For daily tasks, the fans never go above their normal speed. Machine responds well with multiple applications open and running in the background. For my use, I guess 16GB of RAM is enough, but I'm still a little bummed out that the RAM is soldered to the motherboard, making a RAM upgrade in the future impossible. This laptop comes with 2 M.2 SSD slots. For those adding a second SSD, like I did, although there are 2 slots there is only one thermal shield w/screw and it is on the primary SSD. The Dell part number for this assembly is 047W2D. I was able to find one cheap on eBay. That, along with the Samsung 970 Evo 1TB M.2 SSD from Newegg proved to be a very straightforward installation. The BIOS picked the drive up and I just needed to go into Disk Management in Windows to initialize the drive and format it. Now that I have the extra space I can load my games, videos, etc.

Monitoring the Alienware Command Center, temps never reached any alarming highs. The sound is decent for laptop speakers. Really looking forward to playing more games on here and seeing how high I can get the settings.

Right out of the box, I was impressed with this printer. Not only were all three colored inks and a black ink included, but Canon threw in two extra black ink bottles. The physical set up of the printer was straight forward. I love that this is truly a wireless printer. I was not forced to put it in our home office due to USB and network cable constraints. This thing has some size/weight to it so make sure you have a open and sturdy flat space to store it. Filling the ink reservoirs was simple and oddly satisfying. Setting up the printer on my network proved to be a tad difficult. It required a few printer on/off cycles (probably because I did something wrong), but I eventually got it on the network and printing from my MacBook Pro and all of the phones/tablets. We mostly have Apple products, so the Air Print functionality is a huge help. Probably the fastest home printer I've ever had. It spits out sheets so fast that I feel like I'm at the office. Color quality is spot on. Had to print a copy of a MS PowerPoint presentation and it was just as bright and vibrant as it looked on the monitor. The copying and scanning functions work flawlessly as well. My only complaint is with the screen on the printer. I would of liked a bigger screen with color and possible touch capability, but that is more of a preference thing and does not take away from the functionality of this unit. I found the included software and the mobile app to be more than what I need for regular daily use, but they do have some very nice features that I may use in the future. Canon has really helped me step up my home printing capabilities.

I've had this drive hooked up to my Macbook Pro, running Mojave, for about a week now. Setup was super easy. It was already formatted for the Mac so when I plugged it in, it was ready to go. Setup Time Machine to use it as a backup drive and let the backup commence. Backed up all of my data, a little under 600 GB, in about 3 hours. Drive got a little warm during use, but nothing out of the ordinary. Being a 2.5 inch form factor drive, there was no sound while the drive was in use, which was really nice. I've used the WD My Books in the past, but they can be a little noisy at times and take up way more space, so I appreciate the size and weight of this unit. It also draws its power from the USB cable, so you don't need external power like you would with the bigger drives. Not using the supplied encryption software as I rely on Time Machine's encryption for my backup drive. So far, so good. Thanks WD!!!

The size of this camcorder is perfect. Fits in my current camera bag and the black model matches my Canon DSLR. Nice weight. The strap is accommodating for those of us with big hands. The first charge took a few hours but subsequent ones have been only 30-40 minutes. Internal battery is a nice feature. Now I don't have to worry about remembering to take out the battery to charge it, I just charge the whole device. Recording is super easy on this. Just point in a direction and press Start. Video/audio playback on the device is clear. No distortion or anything like that. Transferring saved videos from my SD card is simple and the resulting files play and sound well on my computer. I particularly like the zoom and face-tracking feature on this model. Video was very clear from a cookout I attended and I was able to catch a lot of detail without having to keep changing recording locations. Haven't had a chance to test the waterproof feature. I'll have to get to a pool sometime this Summer to see how that works out. The options on the screen are very intuitive. The only thing I wish it did have was 4K video, but for the price point and the other features it has, I'm not disappointed. I recommend buying a nice sized SD card to store your video on. I bought a 128GB one from BestBuy when they were on sale.

Bought this as a replacement to the stock HDD in my PS4 Pro. Did a fair amount of research on the benefits from using a SDD in the system and I can say I'm experiencing all of them. Apart from doubling the amount of storage I have, my load times are insanely fast. Just simple things like turning on the system are faster than with the default configuration. Loading screens show up on my TV and disappear so fast that sometimes I don't get to see them before my game is ready to play. I plan on buying another one of these soon to upgrade a laptop HDD.

I thoroughly enjoyed the series on the big screen and later again during rentals of the films. I never bought one of the movies because I was waiting for a final boxset. I held out on buying the original boxset when I heard that this one would be coming out. So glad I waited. When I get my movies now, I prefer the Steelbook versions when available so this was right up my ally. I decided to leave them in their container because it looks and fits great in my media stand. I was also lucky enough to catch this one sale which was nice, even though I would of paid full price for it anyway.

I've been waiting for this 4K Player since it was first announced at CES. Ordered it for in-store pickup from the website and was ready the following day (really impressed with the speed and accuracy of my order, THX BB). Easily connected it to my Sony XBR-55X850D. I only have a couple 4K movies, for now, and have been testing them along with their regular Blu-Ray counterparts and the difference is amazing. The picture is absolutely gorgeous. Also, Sony's running a deal that you can get 2 free 4K movies with the purchase and registration of the player. Definitely worth the wait for this one.
