Growing Pains
on November 7, 2016

I'm not one of those that will use Google Home for scheduling appointments, controlling smart home components, or much else. Basically, I wanted Google Home so that I can pull up recipes while cooking, search for measurements, and pick music, all hands free. Unfortunately, I've only really been able to get 2 of the three tasks accomplished with regularity. For some reason, Google Home cannot seem to search my Google Music account. Using my phone, my laptop, and my desktop, I've been able to find specific songs. However, Google Home can't find a single song. None of the songs that I ever ask it to play can ever be found, and instead, I'm directly to playlists through Google Play Music that I don't want. This basically means I'd fall back on Pandora, which I would have used for hands free activities anyway. At least I can skip songs through voice commands. Unless you plan on using Google Home for other tasks, I would probably wait until it's gone through significant improvement.

Sleek and Stunning

I don't have a lot of experience with monitors; before receiving this one, I'd been using a 23.6" View Sonic that I bought 10 years ago. However, in shopping around for a new one, I've seen the new offerings and gotten used to some of the new features. This is probably the thinnest monitor that I've even personally encountered. It's incredible to me that such a clear display can come out of such a thin monitor. I think the thin, almost non-existent bezel/edges on the front, combined with the IPS display make for an amazing picture. The IPS is very helpful because my desk backs into a window and my old monitor, as well as my laptops, have issues with the glare. Not the case with the 23es.

Surprisingly, Not Just a Gimmick
on October 25, 2016

When I heard that this was essentially a speaker with a computer stuffed inside, I thought that it could be a nice, space-saving media server. Testing the system out with audio proved what I had already suspected beforehand, given the fact that the speaker servers as the computer's case, the quality of the sound was not as good as a dedicated speaker. However, after I stopped expecting it to sound as clear and bass-y as my Bose Soundcolor, I realized that the audio was really not that bad. Over time, I've come to appreciate the speakers' integration with the desktop tower, since I don't have to waste desk space on speakers anymore. Another surprise is the computer's performance in itself. With 3.7 GHz i3-6100T processer, even though it only has 2 cores, 4 threads, it can still lift its share of the workload. Granted, I don't use this particular system for anything too intensive (I have a much more powerful laptop that I use as my main system), but it's been able to hold its own for most tasks asked of it. Having worked with various laptops and desktops that include an integrated 802.11 n/ac card, I learned not to expect much of connection speeds. I have to say that this system surprised me in that department too. I've been seeing download speeds that rival my wired connections at times. Aside from the 8 gb of ram included (which is good because the system cannot be upgraded over included equipment) and the speedy network card, I'm also happy to see the use of 3x USB 3.0 ports AND a USB-C port. While the "computer within a speaker" gimmick may wear off, these features help to future-proof the system and ensure its usefulness for some time to come.

Who Needs K-Cup?
on September 26, 2016
Posted by: blackdaz
This is a great coffee maker. I replaced a Cuisinart 12 cup grinder and maker with this and have not regretted it. First, let me say, I'm not a fan of the K-Cup system because I don't like the idea of being forced to overpay for single servings. That said, this machine provides the convenience of single serve coffee without being constrained to K-Cup. It does require a few minutes for the system to start warming the water when the water reservoir is refilled, or the system is first turned on, but after that, a cup of coffee is only a few minutes away. I was surprised at how quickly the coffee was made. And the machine provides options that let you custom brew to your liking, whether it's a stronger cup (as I like it), iced coffee, lattes, etc. It even comes with a built in frother. This thing will definitely pay for itself soon with all of the money I'll be saving not having to run to Starbucks for Americanos.

Gets the Job Done
on May 20, 2016

My review summary says all you really need to know about this tablet. Most of the complaints that I can imagine most people will have about this can easily be explained by the fact that this is indeed a budget tablet.: It feels a bit cheap. The screen res is too low. It doesn't have enough RAM, etc, etc, etc. Like I said, all of these gripes all have the same explanation: it's a budget tablet. That said, it does have some faults that I find curious. Being that it only has 1 gb of RAM, Acer included a System Doctor app to help monitor memory usage and to provide the user with a means to shut down apps that aren't needed anymore. On paper, this sounds great, but I find that the System Doctor notification pops up almost all the time during light use. What's more, sometimes I'll use System Doctor to close apps that I don't need anymore, only to find that it pops back up again with the next app I access. It seems that, you may be able to escape the System Doctor notification if you limit yourself to one app, or two light use apps. This brings me to my next issue: Acer provides an app named EZ Snap, which allows you to use two apps at the same time on-screen. No doubt this app is meant for Acer's higher level tablets, but it feels superfluous on this system. EZ Snap seems like it's meant to taunt System Doc, since it's an app in itself, but then it also helps you use two more apps at the same time. All complaints aside, if you need a large format tablet to read recipes while cooking, or watching a TV show that doesn't require HD, this tablet has you covered. Since this is a secondary tablet for me, it does its job more than adequately enough, However, if you are looking to buy this system as your one and only for getting many tasks done at once, you might want to consider spending a bit more for another, higher level model.

Wealth of Features and Speed
on May 10, 2016

I've been a fan of Linksys routers for a long time, especially before the brand was purchased by Belkin. Afterwards, I was hesitant to use Linksys products, even though I haven't had that many issues with Belkin products. I took a chance on this router and haven't been disappointed yet. First caveat is the size of the machine. It's HUGE. I got the EA9500 as a replacement for the E4200 and the size difference is staggering. You can probably fit 4 of the E4200s in the same space as the EA9500. There is nice LED display on the top that indicates connection status when the system is booted. As I have a lot of experience in configuring networks, I opted for the manual setup. This is a welcome feature as many new routers I've encountered force users into their easy setups. I like to prevent any internet downtime possible, which is why I prefer to do a manual configured of the router first before performing the swap. During setup, I was further surprised to see the wealth of features available. Being a new Dad, I like knowing that I can eventually setup parental restrictions on specific devices through the router's firmware. It also provides the ability to reserve IP addresses of specific machines if using a DHCP setup. This way, you get the benefits of a static address without the extra work. (I still setup a static & DHCP configuration for my own reasons.) Firmware also includes a visual map of the local network with the option to assign specific icons to devices. Obviously, this isn't necessary, but a welcome touch to keep track; it helps me to quickly identify devices on a crowded network. The router includes 1x USB 2.0 and 1x USB 3.0 ports and media streaming using an updated version of Twonky. I use an external drive for streaming movies from the router and I've already notice a difference when accessing it from media devices on the network; file lists and media files load much faster. 8 antennae are provided, 4 for 2.4 GHz band and 4 for 5 GHz band(s). While I would say it looks excessive, it's nice to have. I live in a two story house and being able to direct the signal makes life easier. Regarding speed, I ran a test from a laptop through the E4200 via N connection, then ran another test using the same system through the EA9500 via AC connection. There was a boost in download speeds, but the biggest discrepancy was upload, going from just over 2 Mbps to over 20 Mbps! If you have the means to pick one of these routers up, I would definitely recommend it.

I use this card with my Dell Venue 8 Pro as the storage hard drive and it's great. The tablet communicates with the card quickly and has plenty of storage for music and other files that I'll need to use with the tablet. I've had nothing but good experiences with this and other SanDisk cards I've used in the past and highly recommend them to anyone.

This TV has all the best qualities of its Smart TV capable sibling (UNF6300) without the pricetag. I used the picture settings that they listed on cnet.com for the UNF6300 and it looks fantastic. If you don't need to check Facebook on your TV, then this TV will work great for anyone. I have a PS3 connected so I'm not hurting for any of the features that would have cost me $$$.

Enhance the range and quality of your Wii gameplay. This officially licensed wireless replacement sensor bar is designed to extend the play range of your Wii system, providing maximum tracking performance to ensure that your every motion comes alive in your favorite games. Adjustable distance settings make the sensor bar ideal for use in large or small rooms, and a convenient one- or two-hour automatic shutoff feature helps conserve battery life for extended play. A low-battery indicator light provides you with a visual cue when the power is running low so you can minimize the chance of unexpected game interruptions.

Battery eater

I thought that this would be a great idea of changing the location of the sensor bar without seeing the wires hanging down. Little did I realize that it would consume 3 sets (4x AA each set) in a month! Also, it sporadically shuts itself off in the middle of game play. We were playing Goldeneye, and during a critical part, we lost control! What's worse, it will stay on after you turn off the Wii. I don't recommend this product to anyone unless you are using the Wii in a HUGE room and have a fortune to spend on batteries.

Enjoy your music while training with these Under Armour wireless headphones. These audio devices are sweat proof and have TwistLock technology to keep the earpieces in place through any workout. Designed by JBL, these Under Armour wireless headphones meet the highest audio standards and provide up to 8 hours of battery life to last many workouts.

Do they have a microphone and can the microphone be worn in either ear

They do have a microphone for answering calls. However, the buds are not interchangeable, as the twist-lock technology forces you to put the appropriately labeled bud into the correct ear. However, I wouldn't think of this as an issue, as the twist-lock really helps hold the earbuds in place, especially during activity.
