Light weith and Ergonomic
on December 27, 2019
Posted by: OmieOne

I wish it was autumn so I could truly give this a whirl on the leaves that I get around here. I did give it a quick whirl outside though and it was nice and light, easy to hold and point. It was ergonomic and simple to use. Controls are simple the fact that is battery operated makes it easy to get to the harder to reach places on my property without worrying about tangled cords. What I can't say is how long the battery will last, but the lightweight nature, even with the battery makes this ideal for my small hilly house to keep things clear.
I really like this and look forward to having leaves fall for once to really run this through its paces.

If you want a Rigid Mousepad that has Bling
on November 23, 2019
Posted by: OmieOne

Overall this is a nice rigid Mousepad. The surface is smooth and the different mice I use (depends on the game) all loved it. It is a nice surface and none of the different mice I tried had an issue tracking, and in fact it seemed they tracked better.
If you have the space and want a rigid mouse pad that won't move around, then this is the one. If you also want to plug it in (nice long cord) you can do that too and its easy to change the lighting effect. Personally I don't need the lights, but the surface and rigid nature, as well as dealing with my sweaty hand (clean up is a quick wipe with a cloth) makes this the mousepad for me.

Not bad for rubber domes
on November 17, 2019
Posted by: OmieOne
from East Stroudsburg, PA
For a keyboard using the typical rubber domes I found this a great keyboard for my use case. I have a HTPC hooked up to my TV for streaming and light gaming, and I needed a keyboard that I could use to control the PC from the comfort of my chair. This keyboard fit the bill. The bluetooth connection worked well and I was able to have a keyboard that I can use on this PC to adjust/control etc. The addition of macro keys to program actions is also handy since I have made a few macro's for setups/changes I make depending on what I am using it for. That was a nice touch for a wireless keyboard. I could definitely see if you are looking for something wireless to game with this would work for you. I did test it with a few older games I keep on that PC for couch co-op and the keyboard worked fine for those games.
If you need a wireless keyboard this is a good one, I wish it had mechanical cherry switches since that is what I use on my main rigs, but that is me. I found this keyboard to work well, I didn't play with the RGB, beyond using white glow during the night to see the keys, otherwise I left it off since it can get distracting.

Worked and Sounded great
on November 17, 2019

Overall these are a great pair of wireless headphones that work and sound great.
**Setup***
Setup is easy, plug in the Wireless Dongle (recommended in the front of your PC for best signal) and Windows 10 at least finds the drivers. I did have a Microphone issue where it wouldn't unmute, but that was a Windows 10 problem since I just had to go into the settings page for Microphones and toggle it on. I've had to do this in the past, so if you mic won't unmute check your settings in Windows 10. If you want to adjust the EQ or turn on the 7.1 Surround you'll have to go to corsair and install there iCUE software and leave it running since it doesn't look like the headphones don't have any ability to remember the EQ/surround/Mic/RGB settings.
**Usage**
Using it is very easy, though I did turn off the RGB for some extra wireless time, since I find it kind of silly to light the side of my head that I can't see. That said it worked in all the games I tried. I do like the fact this is a boom mic so muting is either by an easy to reach and press button or raising the Mic.
Sound from the headset was clear and didn't get any drops in my play sessions. They were comfortable even with my glasses on and didn't notice them really. Only issue is I wish iCUE had a battery indicator in the software and allowed me to set a reminder at low power to plug them in. Other then that these seem like a good set of headphones that work and sound good enough for me to enjoy my games.

Great Gaming Headset
on November 1, 2019
Posted by: OmieOne
from East Stroudsburg, PA
TLDR This is a great gaming headset that has clear sound and a good detachable Mic for clear communication with your fireteam.
**SETUP***
This is the best part. Setup is very easy. At least when I tested it on Windows 10 1903. I plugged in the wireless adapter, let Windows download and install the drivers, turn on the headset and it connected just as easy that. I was ready to go just that fast. I do recommend that Corsair recommends and try to insert the USB Wireless sender to the front of your computer and not behind. That is where I have mine and haven't had issues. If you don't have any front ports free or any on the side of your monitor and have to look to plug in the back, I'd recommend a USB extender cable so you cam move the wireless transceiver to the front of your case and high as you can. I did try it right in the back of my computer and when the headphones were wireless with the transceiver in the back, I lost range and had a few more issues, then when I had it on the front of my case. So I highly recommend you follow Corsair's recommendation and place it on the front of your case for best results.
Additionally though this can be used as a wired headset, either via the included USB, which doubles as its charging cable or via a standard headphone jack cable, also included. Its nice to get a set of headphones that can be connected multiple ways and without the need of anything special to get working/used.
Now if you want to use the advanced features like change the colors of the RGB, adjust the EQ, adjust the Mic feedback so you can hear yourself (which keeps the shouting down, unless I can noob tube someone), or turn the 7.1 virtual Surround you will need to go to Corsair's website and install iCUE to manage and enable those features. There is no memory on these headphones so to use the settings you set you must run iCUE. When just running iCUE to control the headset it plays nice and the impact on my system was not noticeable keeping it CPU use to nor more then a few %. So that wasn't a downside for me since that is the only major OEM software I have running, but keep it in mind you will want to run iCUE software to get the most out of the headphones.
**USAGE**
Using them is easy enough. Wired/wireless they work. Wired will give you the best sound but only for the highest of the sampling sources. For regular gaming, both work well. The wireless dongle, while 2.4ghz has the range and even when it drops it gets around the interface as fast as possible. To test I started my microwave (I was hungry) and as I got close to it while running I would drop the signal, as expected, but as soon as I shifted a bit I got my signal back strong without issue. So that is great if you don't want to be tethered, which is nice, esp. since the range is quite good so you can get up and grab a snack/drink if needed and still talk.
The switch for wireless/wired and volume rocker are very easy to find, the mute button on the mic is on the bottom of the Mic itself and I found it slightly awkward to adjust too, but it isn't horrible and works well.
Sound is good, and crisp with a nice boom if you tune the bass up. I had no issues playing games or listening to music/movies. I have better headphones if I want to go full audiophile, but these don't crackle or distort the sound to my ears and happy to use them as a daily driver, esp. in games. I don't have any complaints about battery life, but since they can work wired/wireless/and charge and be wireless, and its at my computer
Honestly I'm very happy and was impressed that a wireless pair of headphones that just worked out of the box with no issues. If you want something that can do wired/wireless/old school with some RGB these then I can recommend these headphones. The only bummer is the requirement to run iCUE to get your EQ and other settings, but at least in my testing iCUE has greatly improved and didn't hog my resources or impact my gaming.
Happy gaming, see you on the battle field.

Nice way to wake up an old mouse
on October 25, 2019
Posted by: OmieOne

This isn't a bad way to take a favorite mouse and add some new life into. The installation of the feet wasn't bad for me, beyond getting them out of the packaging, they are packed tight and took a little bit of work to get out. Once out they installation was easy. They provide everything you need. I do recommend you give the bottom of the mouse where you install the gliding feet a good clean first and let it dry before you use the wipes to give it the perfect clean. But once clean they installed fine for me.
The feet did bring back life to an older mouse I've been using for years. Adding the feet gave it new life and the ability to glide smoothly over a lot of the surfaces I use. Since it's my main travel/work mouse that I love I am very happy that it now glides better then the day I got it years ago. I'm happy with the feet that it gives a good glide for me and makes the mouse move a lot more effortlessly. If you have an older mouse you love and its not gliding and moving as well as you like this is definitely something you should look at to bring it back from dead and make it slide and glide like it was meant to.

Good Camera
on October 20, 2019
Posted by: OmieOne
from East Stroudsburg, PA
Overall this is a good camera if you want something simple to connect and monitor your house.
***SETUP***
Installation of the Android App (this is all Android/iOS based, no Windows or MacOS client), was one of the most straight forward and easy experiences I had. Installed the application from the Play store, and followed the prompts. Setting up an account was easy. Just needed and e-mail, nothing fancier, and then onto the setup. It had me scan a QR code on the top of the camera, enter in my Wireless network (make sure your phone and camera are both on the same wireless 2.4GHZ network) and then it sent a tone from my phone to camera and bam it was all set. I could see the camera via the application. Application is barebones but easy to use. Didn't have any problems navigating and finding settings like Notification zones etc. Notifications seem snappy.
After I had the camera working and happy I went ahead and setup where I wanted. Not this is a wired power supply that will need an outlet. Depending on where you want to put the camera, make sure you have an outlet about 35 feet from the camera. Looking at the manual for outdoor installation, it looks like they designed the camera and expect you to run the cord into the house and plug it in. That is fair and secure, but if you planned on installing it somewhere else to watch the approach to the house note you need to have an outlet nearby, and while the camera is rated for the outdoors, not sure on the plug. That really is downside needing to make sure it can be placed closed to a plug. Additionally if you find your wireless signal not cutting the camera can be wired to run over ethernet if needed.
The two things that impressed me both though with the camera's setup was when I named it, that was the host named used making finding it on my network much easier and they recommended setting up a device password too. This was nice since they expose an RSTP network feed, and more camera's don't have passwords or have default and easily guessed ones that a quick Internet search could find. Being asked to change the password during setup shows they are at least thinking about security and a nice change from a lot of other devices.
Please note that for wireless it will only connect to a 2.4GHZ connection and depending on what your house is made of wireless can vary a lot. Where my camera is it is about 5 feet from my AP, but be ready to fiddle with the camera and your wireless access point to get the signal you need to use this. But to give defender credit they allow that you will have Wireless issues and give you a way to hardline your connection, something you don't see on wireless cameras and I appreciate the backup.
****USAGE****
Once you have the camera setup and tuned and the notification zones in place, it is a nice camera. I don't have any problems accessing it or the internal storage. Camera comes with 16GB SD Card to record movement that can be downloaded. Watching my network DNS it looks like they are using a reverse application proxy to allow remote connection, which is nice. Don't have to subscribe and for most people 16GB should cover, but you can upgrade fairly easily if needed. Additionally sharing the camera is easy which is nice because I can give my wife access as well. Additionally this camera over port 554 will stream an RSTP feed. This is nice because when I'm home I don't have to grab my phone, I can use VideoLAN player (VLC) to see what my camera is seeing easily, just when it prompts you the user account is admin and the password is what you set during setup. Its nice to be able to have a quick peak on a larger screen and gives this some life in case an Android update breaks the application and they don't fix it quickly enough I can at least view my camera feed. Though I wish they'd release a PC app that will allow the access like the app, if for no other reason a larger screen makes it easier and honestly that is my only main compliant, no way beyond a phone application to be able to fully use my camera. That limitation aside I'm happy with the camera and how it is working, the features it has work and are simple enough to use.

Good Simple HD Monitor
on October 19, 2019
Posted by: OmieOne
from East Stroudsburg, PA
If you need a monitor with good color, bright at 1080p resolution then this is a good choice. I got this as a IPS panel to allow for good color for some artistic drawing done with my computer. I find the size and color are good for my needs. It does have Freesync, but you will need an AMD card, as this monitor does not appear as GSYNC Compatible. Also note this monitor is HDMI and VGA Cable only. It does offer two HDMI ports, and I believe the XBOX One is Freesync compatible so you could add an Xbox One as well as your computer. It does have a few game mode features like an onscreen crosshair so show the center of the screen, and when I played Forza Horizon 4 I didn't notice any tearing and was able to play without issue.
Overall if you need a simple no-frills monitor and have an AMD Graphics card this is a good choice of a monitor.
Only down side is the stand. While it tilts there are no height adjustments so if you need to raise it either you'll be using books or getting a different stand to mount it.

Love it for Fast Baking
on October 14, 2019
Posted by: OmieOne
from East Stroudsburg, PA
With kids who like to bake thinking ahead is not there strong suit, they want to make cookies, but don't think to get the butter out and soften it to make cookies/cupcakes etc.
I love the addition of the heater, it helps these last minute baking sessions. It is easy to use we just follow the directions and didn't have a problem getting the butter to the right softness. I was impressed with how easy it was to work with cold butter. Such a nice touch and helped keep the younger impatient kids wanting to have fun to have.
That addition is a nice touch to a hand mixer and actually brings some value to otherwise a hand mixer. It works and we could make cookies. Kids all say they are yummy cookies and for me that is what I want. I am very pleased with this hand mixer helping keep the kids occupied on rainy/cold days and offering something new.

Something very different
on October 11, 2019
Posted by: OmieOne
from East Stroudsburg, PA
This is a very different type of mouse. Not only does it have a joystick on the side, but the whole mouse body can move and pivot. Giving you two different axis of movements. It is different, and not your standard mouse. This is a project mouse. This is a mouse for someone who wants to tune the mouse and how its used. It's not for someone who wants a mouse to plugin and click, this is a mouse where you want to fiddle and configure.
***Setup***
Fairly easy, plug into the computer and it was seen by Windows 10 with no issues. The cable fitting is nice and tight and I don't think it will come loose, had a great fit.
The software that will allow the mouse to be configured installed with no hassles and started up easy enough.
Now this is where it gets interesting. Since you have not only six buttons, a scroll wheel, joystick and the mouse body that pivots you can setup the buttons do a lot, save different profiles. It will take time to figure out what you want, what this mouse can do and get the profile right, also since the mouse body pivots lefts and right and back and forth, dialing in your deadzone is important. However if you like to tune your experience this is a great mouse for that. Only major issue I found, with my larger hands is that the left/right mouse buttons end a good distance from the front of the mouse and I had to adjust my grip to account for that.
***USE***
Once you tune your mouse and the profile, color, what the buttons do, it works great. It can take time to get used to the mouse, the joystick, pivoting the body, but I didn't have any issues with the mouse and using it once I had my profile locked. Yes there is a learning curve if you use the joystick to remember it's there etc. But after a bit it became second nature.
This is a great mouse if you want to tinker and if the front mouse buttons went the whole length of the body it would be the perfect mouse for me and even with that one flaw I'm still happy with it, just expect to spend time tuning your mouse to work the way you want.

If you still have to have Internet service what do I need this thing for I already have a router

Well the two I can think of are: 1. If you need better/stronger wifi coverage throughout your house or 2. if you have newer devices that can use the AC wireless settings. With the Mu-Mimo, even if your devices don't support it, testing has shown that your over all wireless throughput will be better as the router can share the connection better with all devices.
