Sorta works, but only for very small area.
on June 2, 2021

from austin, tx
Pro:
-Compact and portable
-Long battery life
Con:
-Very small coverage area
-Low setting doesn’t do much
-High setting can be loud
I can’t say it doesn’t work, since it does what it says it does. It just has a very limited use. It’s very small, about the size of an energy drink can, so it doesn’t move much air. I put it on my desk, right next to me, and I didn’t notice any difference. However, when I placed it by the cat litter, it did help with the smell a bit. So it does work in a very small confined space, but unless you’re using it in a closet sized room, it probably isn’t that useful. Maybe good for the car or small smelly areas. On low, it barely moved any air. Medium or high is when it starts to be effective, but it also gets loud. The filter needs to be replaced after 6 months.
The battery life is quite good. On low, it lasts about 10-12 hours, about 6-8 hours on medium, and about 2-3 hours on high. I had it on at my desk for half a day before it ran out. It takes about 4 hours to charge.

Jack of all trade headset
on May 19, 2021
Posted by: BeingHonest
from austin, tx
Pro:
-Dolby Atmos
-Battery life
-Versatile connection
Con:
-Pleather foam doesn’t breathe
This is an all around premium headset. It has a good build, but light and comfortable. It’s very versatile and can be connected to PC, consoles, and phone via wired, wireless, and bluetooth. It also can be connected to two devices simultaneously. It has good audio and can be adjusted to be better. Dolby Atmos support is awesome. The mic audio is clear but picks up everything.
Build
This headset feels premium. It looks like it would be tight and heavy, but it’s aluminium and very light and comfortable. The padding is thick and I don’t feel any clamping after wearing it for hours. The pleather foam doesn’t breath, so the ears do get warm after a while. The earpieces have a tight pivot so it doesn’t conform to my head as easily, but it stays in place once I adjust it to fit just right. It’s also a bit shallow so the edge of my ears touch the inside. The detachable mic is also nice, not light and flimsy. The RGB logo is subtle and not overly bright. The controls are on the right, with buttons to control Bluetooth connections and a volume wheel. There’s no volume control to adjust between game and chat audio, and that has to be done in the iCue app.
Sound
To me, the sound out of the box is fine. The sound seems even across the range so it lacks some bass. You can adjust the EQ within the iCue app. The best feature is definitely the Dolby Atmos for PC. All you have to do is download the free Dolby app from the Windows store and it automatically activates Atmos. In supported games, Atmos sounds great. I can really hear the difference when something is circling around me from a distance.
Connections
Very versatile. It has wireless connection that can be used with PC or consoles, bluetooth, and wired. It can be connected to two devices simultaneously via wireless and bluetooth. It’s nice to be able to hear the game while being able to hear my phone as well. There wasn’t any noticeable delay with wireless, and has a range about 20-30 ft before the audio starts to cut out. With a wired connection, you get a high fidelity audio if you have a source that supports it.
Mic
The mic is impressive for such a small headset mic. My voice comes in loud and clear, and not muffled and quiet like typical gaming headsets. It does, however, pick up all background noises in the room so running it through a noise suppression is advised. On voice chat and recording, the mic audio was fine, but I got hissing when I tried it in OBS without noise suppression. With some processing, I can see using this mic for streaming and recording.
Battery
About 14 hours of use, which is twice the typical headset.
iCue
I’m used to iCue so I found the app to be fine. You can adjust your EQ, the RGB, and game/chat mix. I wish there was a way to adjust the mix on the headset itself rather than having to open up the app to do so.
Overall, it does everything well. It’s well built and comfortable. The audio is great, and can be adjusted to be better. Dolby Atmos makes gaming much more immersive. The mic is clear but picks up a lot of background noises. Battery is twice as good as any other wireless headsets I’ve owned. If you need a jack of all trades for a headset, then this is a worthy choice.

Good printer, but colors are a bit faded
on May 17, 2021
Posted by: BeingHonest
from austin, tx
Pro:
Fast print
Relatively quiet
Con:
No display
Led indicator can be confusing
Color accuracy
A typical 3 in 1 printer that was easy to set up, and does its job without the frills. There’s no display, a minimal 5 button layout, and 2 status indicator lights. Without a display, you sometimes have to use a combination of buttons to do certain functions like cleaning the print heads. You also have to know the different error codes from the combination of the blinking/solid from the two indicators. Printing from the app is recommended as it allows adjusting your settings not on the printer.
Setting it up was simple. It took a little bit for the printer to be found on wifi, but no issues beyond that. The app offers more settings than on the printer. You can choose between printing documents or images, scan, paper size, and quality.
Printing for documents was quick, while images depend on the print quality. The line quality is good, but after testing various settings and modes, I found the color accuracy (even at best quality) is a bit off. The color is more faded when compared to the original source. There’s also a difference in accuracy between printing and copying. I got the most accurate when printing an image at best quality. While it’s not terrible, it was noticeable coming from my last printer.
Overall a good straight to the point printer to have for a home office. Full page documents print fast and look sharp. Depending on the mode, color is a bit faded but acceptable. Not having a display makes it harder to use in certain cases, like having to know what the limited indicator codes are or not having on board ink level indicators.

Some flaws, but good performance.
on May 11, 2021
Posted by: BeingHonest
from austin, tx
Pro:
-Fast and responsive
-Intel Iris Xe, capable of less intensive gaming
-Better airflow design
Con:
-Heavy for its size
-Keyboard gets warm
-Screen less vivid
-Touchpad clicking doesn’t feel solid
-A lot of bloatware
Build
It’s a bit heavier and thicker than other laptops of the same size. The overall body is solid with minimal flex and almost no wobble. The screen hinge is tight and can’t be opened with one hand. There’s two USB 3 ports, a USB C (which double for power), HDMI out, headphone jack, and a SD card reader. The speakers are at the bottom corners. The vents on the bottom are lifted about half an inch in laptop mode, and about a quarter inch in tablet mode, so airflow is less restricted.
The keyboard feels fine to type. It has a combination power/fingerprint reader at the top right, which is fast during start up.
The trackpad doesn't feel as nice. While the touch functions work fine, the actual clicking is very stiff. The right click feels as if the assembly isn’t quite right. I have to press harder and there’s a noticeable gap before the click is registered.
Display
The color is a bit disappointing. It’s less saturated and looks faded in comparison to other laptops I have. The viewing angle is fine with the color shifting starting at about 45 degrees. The touch display works as expected, no complaints.
Sound
The speakers aren’t that great. While they can get decently loud, they sound a bit muffled as if you’re putting your hands over them. They sound better if it’s lifted off the surface. At higher volume the sound quality starts to drop. It’s not bad for a laptop speaker, but I’ve heard better.
Battery
Battery life is about 4-5 hours of continuous use. I had it running streams for the entire session and was able to do some light gaming for a few hours.
Performance
For everyday activities, I haven’t had any issues. It starts up fast and the i7 and 16 GB of ram is capable of handling any day to day tasks. The Intel iRis Xe is capable of less intensive gaming at lower settings.
The keyboard can get warm during higher CPU usage or while it’s plugged in. Definitely noticeable during use. Once the fan kicks in, it stays relatively quiet.
The camera, as expected, is not very good. It’s grainy and the colors are desaturated. It will do its job for occasional calls. At least there’s a slider that covers it for privacy.
Summary
This laptop is overall fine. There’s nothing offensively bad but nothing that stands out either. It’s a bit heavier than other 2-in-1’s I’ve used. Its build is solid with no flexing or wobbling. Battery life is about 4-5 hours. Performance is good thanks to its CPU and iRIS Xe graphics. Even some light gaming is possible. Display is somewhat desaturated, and the sound isn’t the greatest, but neither are deal breakers. Overall a good everyday laptop for work or school.

Good noise cancelling at a low cost.
on April 16, 2021
Posted by: BeingHonest
from austin, tx
Pro:
-Good noise cancelling
-Lightweight
-Battery life
Con:
-Gets warm
-Mids get overpowered
The headset is light and comfortable to wear without clamping down too hard. The foam is soft, but it’s wrapped with fake leather and doesn’t breathe well so it can get warm quickly. The cups can pivot and fold up relatively compact.
The battery life is great. It can last up to 60 hours (40 with noise cancelling on). I’ve used it for a few days, and had it running for 10 hours straight and still had over 50% left.
The noise cancelling cuts about 50% of background noise. There wasn’t any noticeable hiss with noise cancelling. Low hums are cut, and speech is lowered but can still be clearly understood. There’s three modes to choose from within the app, Transport, Indoor, and Outdoor. Transparency mode enhances the background noise and you can clearly hear everything around you. You can quickly activate Transparency mode by covering the right side, which is handy.
The sound overall is fine. On the default setting, I found the bass overpowers the mids. With music, the lyrics are overtaken by instruments, and in movies and games, dialogues can be quiet compared to other background sounds. There’s various EQ presets to choose from as well as a fully custom one so a good setting can be found.
The app lets you pick the noise cancelling settings and adjust the EQ.
While not as good as other brands I’ve owned, it’s also at a much lower price while performing well. The noise cancelling is effective at reducing some background noise. The battery life is amazing at 40-60 hours, longer than other headphones I’ve seen. One main negative for me was the audio balance, with the bass overpowering the mids. The app lets you adjust the EQ so a better balance can be set.

Buttery smooth. Bad speakers.
on April 9, 2021
Posted by: BeingHonest
from austin, tx
Pro:
-Good viewing angle
-165 hz G-sync
-Stand is height adjustable and portrait mode
-1 display and 2 hdmi inputs
-Joystick and buttons for easy menu navigation
Bad:
-Speakers
-Colors leans blue
Display
This is my first high refresh rate monitor, and playing a game at 165Hz is a nice experience. It looks incredibly smooth. Being a 1080p at this size, the jagginess is noticeable, especially if you’re coming from a higher resolution.
The viewing angle is excellent. The color is consistent until about 45 degrees and even then it’s still acceptable. By default the colors run cool and have a very blue tint. I adjusted it so that it's more accurate, but it’s still a bit too vivid. I find the Cinema or Racing settings to be best. The sRGB has the most accurate colors but the brightness is turned down too much and is too dim in a lighted room.
There’s four levels of blue light filter, but it adds a purple tone to everything. The Shadow Boost just ups the brightness and the Vivid Pixel sharpens the image. I didn’t find these worth using at the cost of color accuracy.
Build
The monitor is sturdy with little wobble. On the back there’s 1 Display Port, 2 HDMI, headphones out, and speakers. The stand is very adjustable, being able to raise it up to 6 inches or lowering it till the bottom of the screen is practically touching the table. It can also rotate to portrait mode, clicking in at about 15 degrees intervals. It can also rotate side to side and have a good amount of tilt. The backplate of the stand pops off for cable management and I like the bottom plate has little tick marks to align the rotation.
The menu navigations are on the right side, and most of it is done with the little joystick. This makes going through the menus much easier than having to fumble around with multiple buttons. The other buttons are just shortcuts or used to bring up the gaming features, such as the onscreen crosshair, timer, and FPS counter.
Sound
To be fair, most monitors have bad speakers and likely won’t be used very often but it’s worth a mention. They’re not good and sound muffled. The headphones out have a bit of humming, even with a ground loop isolator.
Overall I think this is a very good monitor with few negatives. The display angle is very good, and the colors are good after some calibrations. There’s some extra display features, but they didn’t seem worthwhile. The stand is sturdy with good height adjustments and good range of tilt and rotation. The speakers are not good. Gaming on it is a smooth experience and will make it hard to go back to 60fps.

Light and convenient. Strong suction.
on March 23, 2021
Posted by: BeingHonest
from austin, tx
Pro:
-Strong suction
-Full size head and bin
-Auto floor sensor
-Converts to handheld
-Lightweight
-2 batteries and charging adapter
-Up to an hour per battery
Con:
-Four hour charge time per battery
-Expensive
Usage
The Outsize is a convertible, going from full upright to a handheld. The actual body is about 1.5 foot long and is very light. It has a trigger switch, making it easy to hold and operate. As an upright, it’s easy to push and turn. It’s like a smaller version of the ball design. As a handheld, it can be a bit big to try to get into smaller spaces, and would have been better if there was a hose attachment. The attachments included are the full size cleaner head (upright), two brush heads, a general cleaning convertible head, the slim nozzle, and a tangled free pet hair brush. It has a LCD display that shows battery life, and if there’s an error, will tell you how to resolve it. Overall it’s much more convenient to use than a corded vacuum since I can just go from one room to another, while the auto mode takes care of the adjusting.
Suction
I don’t have a comparison to other cordless vacuum, but the suction is strong. It picks up fine dust from the carpet and larger debris without any issue, but it’s not as strong as my corded Dyson. I tried going over the same area with the bigger vacuum, and it would still pick up a bit of dust and hair the Outsize didn’t. It has three settings, Boost, Auto, and Eco, with the Auto being the recommended setting. Boost will max out the power but drains the battery within minutes. I found the Eco mode ok for light cleaning over a large area. It also has a filtration system that traps the particles so the air expelled is cleaner.
Auto floor sensor
On Auto, this vacuum will learn and adjust its power according to the floor type, increasing its power on carpet and decreasing for hardfloor. It takes about an hour of use before it calibrates itself. At first use on carpet, the suction seemed too strong and it was hard to push the vacuum, while the battery indicator showed only about 15 minutes. Once calibrated, I was able to go from carpet to hard floor effortlessly and the vacuum adjusted for optimal battery life.
Battery life
It comes with two battery packs. On Auto, I can get about 20 minutes on carpet per battery, and about 40 minutes on hardfloor. So with two packs, it should last up to about two hours, and longer in Eco mode. The one drawback is that it takes almost four hours to fully charge the battery. Luckily it comes with two chargers.
Final thought
I think, for what it is, is a great vacuum. It’s light, has great suction, auto mode, and cordless makes it convenient to use while sacrificing a bit of power. Being a convertible is a huge plus, making it a nice all rounder vacuum. The battery life is pretty good, enough for a typical cleaning. It does take a while to charge, so it can be a problem if I need to instantly use it and it is out of battery. I think that if it’s for a big, mostly carpeted house, it may be better to get the corded models.

quiet and moves a lot of air
on March 12, 2021
Posted by: BeingHonest
from austin, tx
Pro:
-Automatic sensor
-Quiet at low and normal speed
-Moves a good amount of air
Con:
-Takes up space
Easy to use with one touch button on the top that cycles from auto, night, normal, boost, and off. There’s an optional outer cloth filter that also hides the power cable. The filter is easy to change with a simple two button release. It does take up a bit of space, being about as big as an end table.
The purifier has an auto sensor that will detect the air quality and adjust the speed. It usually remains at the low setting and will sometimes kick up to medium if the AC turns on. It really cranks it to max whenever it detects smoke from when I’m cooking across the house.
At low it’s quiet enough to not disturb sleep. At normal, it’s about as loud as a fan. You can hear it if the room is quiet, but if there’s background noise, it’s fine. At the highest speed, it can get a bit noisy, about as loud as my AC.
It moves a good amount of air. In the 20x20 room, you can feel the air being blown out. When on, the room will have a sanitized smell. It could be because it’s new or maybe the air is cleansed of particles, I’m not sure.
So far, I’ve had it for a week and have left it on most of the time. It seems to be working well. It’s quiet at low speeds, circulates a good amount of air, and the filter should last about 6 months. So hopefully this will help with dust and irritants in the house.

Rich broadcasting sound, but quiet.
on March 7, 2021
Posted by: BeingHonest
from austin, tx
Pro:
Good tones
USB and XLR
Background noise rejection
Monitor out with USB mode
Simple to use app
Includes long both USB C and micro USB cables
Con:
Quiet compared to other USB mics
Touch strip
Limiter is weak
Micro USB
The build quality is what I’d expected from Shure. It’s heavy and solid, and feels like a high quality product. There’s a touch strip to control mic and monitoring level. The USB, XLR, and headphone out are on the bottom. The main negative is that it still uses micro USB. It includes two long cables, one micro to USB A, and another to USB C.
This is my first dynamic mic, so I still need to play with the audio levels more, but so far the audio is nice. Currently I’m only using it as a USB mic, but even with that, it has more of a deep, warm, broadcasting tone compared to my last mic. However, it seems much quieter than my condenser mic. Even with the mic volume at max, and me just a few inches away, I still had to add gain for it to be on the same level as my previous mic.
This mic rejects most noise that’s not directly in front of it, so the background rejection is very good. It won’t pick up much ambient noise, but it will still pick up some voices from across the room. Plosives can be an issue and it may need a better pop filter.
Being both USB and XLR, it should be able to output to two different recording devices with the proper setup. The headphone jack on the mic only works when using it with USB.
The touch strip, while works fine, is more cumbersome to use during recording sessions. Unlike a physical button, you have to actively look for the spot to touch. The volume control is not a 1 to 1, meaning you have to swipe multiple times versus a simple turning of a knob. You can also end up tapping the mic while doing so.
The Motiv App is user friendly, and a good starting point for audio settings. With auto mode, it determines the EQ and gain based on whether the mic is set at near or far. You can pick between dark, natural, or bright for how your voice is enhanced. The manual mode gives you more control and let’s you set gain, preset EQ patterns, adding a limiter, and compression. The preset does a good job, but I got better results doing it myself in a recording app. The limiter doesn’t work as well. It mainly keeps the sound from really maxing out but doesn’t do that great at keeping it from being too loud.
It’s a good mic, with rich tones. Having both XLR and USB makes it versatile. It’s a quiet mic compared to what I’ve used before so I needed to add more gain. I wish the USB out was a USB C rather than micro since that’s the standard now. The touch strip was more of a hassle for me, but it works. The included app is simple and good for a quick start or for anyone that doesn’t want to mess with sound settings. As long as I can adjust the gain and EQ, I like the overall end result.

Great sound and noise canceling

Pro:
good sound
Noise canceling works well
App has good sound settings
Battery life
Wireless charging
Cons:
fitting can seem loose
Can only power off with case
Overall a really good set of ear buds. The sound is very good for its size while being able to have good noise canceling. At first the fitting can feel loose, even with the right ear insert, but once I angled them in the right way, they stayed in my ear while I was moving about. The case is compact, smaller than any other cases I’ve owned and has wireless charging. One thing that I didn’t like was that to fully turn them off, you need to put them back in the case. So you need to always have the case on you.
The sound is clear. It’s not as good as the really premium earbuds, but these also have noise canceling and more compact. The sound can be tuned with the EQ in the app. Out of the box, the sound didn’t impress me but once I messed with the EQ, it sounded much better.
The ANC is really good. It lowers background noise significantly. I could hardly hear the tv while on. Depending on which mode (commute, outside, and inside) it will block certain frequencies more than others. For instance, on commute, the wind will have crackling sounds but barely audible on outside.
The app has more features than expected. The touch functions can be customized, three ANC modes, and the EQ has a lot of presets as well as a feature that measures which frequencies you can hear and calibrate for it. It also has a fitting test that tells you if you have a good seal.
Battery life is pretty good. With ANC on, it lasted about 5 hours. The case provides a few more charges as well.

HP's take on MacBook Air, and it's good!

With an attractive design and lightweight portability, this laptop is a (big) tablet size package with full size laptop performance. The laptop is incredibly thin at a mere 10.4 mm and weighting at 2.45 lbs.
Build:
The exterior is a matte finish trimmed with gloss gold, which is reflected with the keyboard. This finish is nice since it doesn't leave fingerprints but the shinny gold is prone to marks. While personally I'm not a fan of the dark gray and gold, it does have a premium look to it. On the back is the headphone jack, 2 usb type C, and a power port, along with the exhaust along the bottom.
Display:
The Spectre comes with a 13 inch IPS 1080p display, and while not on par with a retina display, is clear and sharp. You really don't need a higher resolution for this size. The display setting is default to a custom setting in windows, which I find to be about right. The screen is glossy, which can be annoying. The viewing angle is great! I was surprised that this was an IPS panel.
Keyboard and trackpad:
The keyboard is a typical chicklet type key and is responsive and easy to type with. It is backlit and with the gold trimmed keys, gives a nice glowing effect. The glass trackpad is nice and smooth and functions like a button with gesture controls (which I mostly disabled). It's essentially an Apple trackpad.
Speakers:
The speakers sandwich the entire keyboard, and while HP boast that it's custom tuned by Bang & Olufsen, it performs like what you would expect from tiny speakers on a tablet. Not so good, but considering its size, is adequate for watching videos. With music, it tends to crack at higher volumes and the bass is lacking. Still, the speakers can produce good volume and the individual channels stands out.
Performance:
With an i7 and 8 gb of ram, this laptop can handle any day to day task without a hitch. Just don't expect to do any modern gaming with this. Thanks to its PCIe SSD, this thing is fast. It boots up faster than my gaming desktop. But with only 256gb of storage, you might need an external drive. I'm used to gaming laptop so to me the battery life is very good. I can get at least 5 hours of use without optimizing the brightness and performance. It takes a few hours to fully charge and you should be good to go for a while. There doesn't seem to be a way to replace the ssd or battery so I'm hoping they last. I have one major issue with the performance, and is that it can get hot, not warm, but hot. Installing windows update, this laptop got too hot to be in my lap. Doing multitasking can get quite warm as well.
Overall this laptop performs to my expectations. It's thin and light and can handle everyday tasks smoothly. There's not much HP bloatware, which I find refreshing. It comes with a usb C adapter and a slip cover, but in my case is a tad too small and tight. Even with some of its shortcomings, I can't fault it too much given how much was packed into such a small form factor.
This laptop was provided to me for my honest review.

Thanks for update

Thanks for letting me know about the ssd and battery. I didn't see any way to remove the cover, but good to know it's doable. And yes I no longer put it on my lap (laptop-the irony) due to the heat issue. The ventilation is one of the issue I have with this thing, but it's still a good machine.

No brand name if that's what you're asking. It's a Dell made board.

Does this have a 850 w power supply? Which brand/ model video card is used for this rtx 2070?

Not sure about the power supply (not visible without taking it out), but with Dell you won't be getting any brand name parts. Just generic grade. The 2070 is a blower style.

Listen to your playlist in peace with these Sony headphones. They have a 40mm dome driver to deliver the full depth of audio, and the noise cancelling feature minimizes outside disturbances for a better listening experience. These Sony headphones have a battery life of up to 30 hours for extended jam sessions.

Really wanna buy these headphones, but does the ANC from these (Sony) create an undesirable pressure to the eardrums? Tried the Bose, they hurt my ears after a while...

I think your case is unique. I haven't heard about noise cancelling causing pain. I have both the Sony and Bose and all I can say is that they are similar, but with the Sony you can adjust the level of NC so that it has less effect in their App. By default, the Sony has a bit of a hiss. It's worth a shot.

I am moving to Australia & hear different information about the power adapters. Do I need a converter to charge this HP laptop internationally? I have the adapter & a converter. Just want to be on the safe side. Thank you!

On the power brick, it says that it takes 100-240v so it should be fine internationally.

Which available adapter is recommended for using with: HDMI screen Ethernet RJ45 network 2 regular USB ports (for wireless keyboard/ printer/ disk on key, not usb-c) Charging ?

There's no HDMI or ethernet out. It only comes with 2 usb-c so you'll just need an adapter to connect to non usb-c devices.

Online, the estimated battery life is 9.5 hours. How accurate is this estimate?

Real world applications would probably get about half of that. I get about 4-5 hours of moderate use.

What users is this directed towards?

Mainly target for everyday users or office workers that needs portability and good performance. For instance if you're looking to get a macbook air or surface pro (only without touch screen).

Stay cool with this Honeywell Turbo Force HT-906 table fan that features 120° extra-wide horizontal oscillation to help keep a large area comfortable. The pivoting head can be adjusted up to 60° for flexible positioning.

How quiet or loud is this fan?

Tired of noisy fans; how is this one for noise? Thanks.
It's a bit quieter but really no quieter than any oscillating fan I've had. This is just smaller and has decent air flow.
