Good Signal Reception. Omni Directional.
on April 12, 2018
Posted by: NYY0420A
from Brooklyn, NY
DESIGN:
The Mohu Beam Premium is the first of it's kind that has a soundbar like design in contrast to window sticking leaf or wave like directional types. According to the instructions, the Mohu Beam can be mounted in the attic, interior or on the outside siding -- the ideal location for my house's setup is the living room media table. The shape and size may not be for everyone since it is long and somewhat bulky --- the reason I am unable to place it closer by the window. It does have a multi or omni directional design which is a big plus.
PERFORMANCE:
I have used a leaf like amplified antenna that attaches to my living room window and the signal strength on that is pretty good -- the Moho being further away from the window, I expected a dramatic decrease in reception, but was presently surprised at how strong the reception still is. The most difficult over the air channels to pull in are some local NYC Asian channels like Sinovision and KMBC -- the Mohu is able garner a 66%-73% signal strength according to my television, which is a lot better than I could have hoped. At that signal level the picture and audio is decently stable -- picture won't cut out but sometimes the audio does. My previous amplified antennas also had a challenge being able to pull in these channels well so this is a plus for my household. Channels such as PBS, CBS or NBC are getting about 100% signal from the Mohu -- which is no less impressive being that the antenna is located well inside my living room. Picture and audio quality are crystal clear with zero lag or added pixelation.
FINAL:
The Mohu Beam Premium is a surprisingly strong performing antenna and I strongly believe the Mohu Beam Premium could perform even better with an attic or outside mounting setup -- something I unfortunately cannot do with my current house's configuration. I am able to pull in some foreign channels well that I found difficult with previous antennas -- a big win. The omni directional design is nice albeit having a big footprint and taking up a decent amount of wall space. I am content with the Mohu Beam and recommend for others to give it a try at least. Your house's location, design and build type will probably influence your results so everyone's opinion may differ.

Decent wireless performance. Nice design.

I have always associated Norton with their antivirus software solutions since I was a young man and they have always done a pretty good job protecting my computers from malicious software. Now Symantec has entered the highly competitive wireless router market and I am interested to see what they have come up with.
DESIGN:
The appearance itself of the Norton Core router is in stark contrast to rival router designs. The Core has an alien or epcot center dome looking build to it. My first thought is that this should allow for better wireless signal dispersion and overall coverage in my house. One apparent difference is that this has 3 LAN ports and not the usual 4 LAN ports in all routers that I have owned in my lifetime. There are 2 USB ports that allow PRINTER SHARING ONLY. I do not see a WPS button or Wireless ON/OFF option built in; I have never seen a wireless router not have these. There are no external antennas, in my experience those are still necessary for optimal signal attenuation and wireless range.
SETUP/NEW FEATURES:
Linking to the router initially requires a mobile app download and Norton Core account creation. These are understandable due to the Norton security software that is built in and linked to your account. The Norton Core Security Plus requires a monthly subscription fee for continual usage; at least you have 1 year free bundled with the router. What I do like a lot is the Security Score indicator that informs you of the overall threat risk to your network and ways to improve your network security; big plus. Navigating the user interface is no problem and I can easily find options such as parental controls and content filtering.
PERFORMANCE:
Let's get down to what really matters here; wireless range and throughput. I have a 2200 sq. ft. house and have tested many wireless routers over my lifetime. Most routers I have gone through do not deliver strong wireless range to my rear upstairs bedroom. I currently have a 200 Mbps download speed package, with the Norton Core 802.11ac signal connection via my desktop in that same room, I am measuring about 145 Mbps which is not that bad. The signal strength is at 2-3 bars however and sometimes streaming HD video requires a lot of buffering due to less than optimal wireless connection strength. I really believe that internal antennas are currently not as effective as amplified external ones; I think that may be the case here. My upstairs front bedroom is getting maximum signal strength and the Roku in that room is streaming 1080p content without any issue whatsoever. Speed tests show ~190 Mbps downloads. I do not have a video gaming console system currently and I am unable to test that aspect of the router but it would have been a wired link and I am confident the router should not have any issues with that.
The Norton Core router is definitely better than I could have hoped for, especially as a first time wireless router offering from a security software firm. The wireless router market is just so competitive and there are so many other options that are similar and better than the Norton Core right now. Their biggest strength goes back to what they do best and that is providing computer security solutions which is built into the router itself. Providing the gateway with more beefed up security is always great and I wish other personal home routers will allow security software to be added in as an option in the future.

Solid Bass. Quality Room Filling Sound.
on March 26, 2018

from Brooklyn, NY
This is my second review regarding Sony's XB line of portable wireless speakers and the results are good. The XB41 is noticeably larger than the XB31 but without the significant weight increase.
Design:
The XB41's design looks very similar to the XB31 but the speaker drivers are larger and illuminated which I really like. The colorful LED lighting remains and the IP67 dust and water resistance are great of course. The lighting modes are activated by touching the speaker in different areas and it seems to be unchanged from previous models.
AUDIO QUALITY:
The bass is very strong and better than ever probably due to the larger overall speaker size and better drivers. Mid range detail is good and highs are decent but not the best; It is markedly improved from the XB31. I think I have come to accept that Sony products will always have superior bass clarity and power but the mids and highs will always trail behind. The XB41 allows linkage to multiple speakers (up to 100) to allow a truly room or yard immersive audio experience.
Battery Performance:
It has a reported 24 hour battery life which should literally give you a entire day's worth of playback usage. I have been listening to Pandora and music via my iPhone for about 17 hours so far and there seems to be plenty of juice left. I assume that the battery life would be less with the lighting effects active and so forth.
PHONE CALL:
I tested the mic by placing a few calls via iPhone to my wife and she said that my voice came across mostly clear without out too much noise or distortion; always a nice feature to have and surprisingly good compared to other wireless speaker mics I have tested.
Overall an impressive portable speaker with terrific bass and good sound overall. It is a nice value although I am not sure if it is enough of an improvement over the XB31 to justify it.

Solid Noise Cancelling. Great Battery and Bass.
on March 25, 2018
Posted by: NYY0420A
from Brooklyn, NY
Upon opening the box and trying the headphones on for the first time I find a product that is very lightweight and is comfortable to wear even over my beanie cap. Appearance wise it has a clean look without sacrificing sleekness. Controls are intuitive and located with ease alongside the outer edges of the earcups. Headphones weight about 8 ounces and the rotating ear cups are built well with portability in mind.
BATTERY PERFORMANCE:
These have a reported 35 hours battery life on a full charge, 35! I just received the CH700N and I have used them for only 20 hours total with plenty of charge remaining. The biggest strength may be short period charging yields good playback time; a 10 minute charge gives you 1 hour of playback, great thing to have when going to work and forgetting to charge the headphones overnight.
NOISE CANCELLING TECHNOLOGY:
I have listened to music via iPhone on the subway earlier and it was able to drown out most of the crowd and train movement noise. I have yet to try them on when cycling but do not recommend this as noise cancelling may drown out background noise sufficient for your safety.
AUDIO QUALITY:
Sony has solidified it's position for a long time concerning products that offer strong bass and it simply continues here. Bass is very strong, has low distortion and performs quite well even at higher volume levels. Vocals are clear and mid range is robust. Higher frequency sounds contain nice detail with acceptable noise. I made a few calls to my wife to test the mic and bluetooth quality which all across above average for a wireless headset.
APP:
I recommend downloading the Sony Connect app for your mobile device or tablet. The CH700N sound excellent without any tweaking but I am somewhat of an audiophile and like to have customization of my sound settings as much as allowed. One feature that requires the App to switch on is this Digital Sound Enhancement Engine. The DSEE supposedly restores detail to your music and when I toggled it on I seemed like the songs I played sounded a little crisper and livelier but not significantly better to me. Further testing of this feature is needed.
Overall this is a terrific wireless headphone offering from Sony that has solid bass performance and very good sound across the frequency range overall. The headphones are nice enough to warrant some sort of travel pouch or bag but is something that is nice to have and not expected. These are certainly not the best Sony headphones nor the best overall wireless noise cancelling headphones I have ever reviewed but they are still pretty solid and a pretty good value. I have no problem recommending them and hope everyone gives them a try at least. Outstanding battery life and very comfortable to wear for long periods!

Excellent Brightness. Sharp Picture Quality.

Upon opening the box I found everything easily in sight from the remote to all the cables and documentation. The projector itself is packed well and securely with foam inserts and projector bag. I installed the Epson App on my iPhone to utilize the wireless function of the EX7260. To be clear to everyone, this projector is not ideal for watching films or TV shows; it is more intended for a professional setting and business presentations. First off this thing has an amazing brightness level. We have some quality projectors at work for presentations in the conference rooms and they are not as bright as the EX7260. Even with all the lights on, the image being thrown on my screen is extremely clear and concise. Powerpoint and Excel graphs looked perfect. The built-in speakers are another matter, they are not good. Sound comes out somewhat weak and distorted, especially when increasing volume to higher levels. The EX7260 offers a nice selection of inputs: VGA, HDMI, RCA composite, USB-A and USB-B. There is also Quick Connect via QR Code which is convenient. The projector is relatively quiet when in operation is similar in noise to my desktop computer ~30dB. Streaming videos via the app is often laggy and slow at times so stream utilizing wired connections is optimal. Wired streaming of videos is good and stable with 720p HD resolution. Overall the EX7260 is a very solid wireless projector that is easy to set-up each time and even easier to use. The speaker could use a lot of improvement and the Epson app could be better. Again this projector is not designed nor marketed toward the gaming or movie watching audience; it is optimal for business environments and office settings.

Solid bass. Decent sound. 24 hour battery!

The SRS-XB31 is one of the better wireless speakers I have ever owned in recent memory. Appearance wise the XB31 looks like many other wireless speakers with the White/Green combo being aesthetically pleasing. IP67 certified for dust and waterproofing; great for use in a beach, BBQ or bathroom setting. Connecting to the speaker from my iPhone was a breeze and upon playing my music I instantly could tell the sound was going to be decent. Mid range is good and highs are OK at best with more noticeable distortion. The bass is quite strong and clear, something Sony has done a solid job with over the years via Extra Bass. The battery life is a terrific reported 24 hours and I was able to get 22+ hours without messing with the LEDs, turning on Live Sound or Party Booster. The Live Sound feature I could do without; most single wireless speakers I have tested simply do not emulate 3D room filling sound well no matter what 3D or Live feature they possess with the exception of Bose products. The Party Booster feature is different and sort of neat for me as it allows you to mix in different sounds on the XB31 simply by touching the outside of the speaker in various places; cool feature but it does not enhance the value enough for me. I found the LEDs to be more interesting, especially when used in a more darker room setting. The XB31 allows for daisy chaining of up to 100 wireless speakers in total or directly with Speaker Add Function. Overall I recommend the XB31 to anyone who is looking for a nice looking wireless speaker that has very good bass, decent sound overall and is easy to operate. 24 hours battery is great along with IP67 dustproof and waterproof certification!

Great signal coverage. Easy to use.

Upon opening the box you will find a quick setup guide that makes the installation process very smooth. I live in a 2 story 2200 square ft property and there are some weak signal spots on rear side of the 2nd floor. With the RE9000 from Linksys the entire house has strong signal strength throughout. I tested the Linksys even further by placing my AC5400 router in the basement to see how well the wireless signal would be amplified by the RE9000 and it performed surprisingly well. Bathrooms and pantry room in the rear of the house had strong signal strength (~90% speed). Backyard had about ~70% speed so the RE9000 signal attenuation is also very solid. Thus far I have yet to have any dropped or laggy connections. It is a good price for a AC3000 class range extender and the Linksys brand always performed very well in my house; this is no different! Has 4 built-in Gigabit ethernet ports so that wired devices may connect to the wired/wireless network. Definitely recommend this to everyone who lives in a larger residence!

Enjoy playlists in private with these Sennheiser wireless earbuds. The three-button remote lets you take calls or cycle through music with a single touch, and the earpieces are magnetic, so they stick to one another to prevent loss while not in use. These Sennheiser wireless earbuds have a range of up to 30 feet from a paired device.

Good Sound. Not water resistant. No app support.
on March 1, 2018
Posted by: NYY0420A
from Brooklyn, NY
I have owned LG, Sol Republic and lesser brands among wireless earbud headphones and the Sennheiser HD1 Free is one of the better sounding ones I have ever listened to.
---DESIGN---
The HD1 Free is lightweight and has a sturdy and nice build feel to it. Appearance is sleek and very appealing with the red/black color scheme. Inline controls are standard fare and easy to access/use that also allow for phone calls. The earbuds themselves have a snug fit and have solid noise isolation. Earbuds have magnets built in so that they stick together when dangling around your neck, however I found the magnets could be stronger as my earbuds easily detached will little movement. My biggest gripe is these do not seem to be designed with water/moisture/sweat resistance in mind. Most mid to high end headsets have water resistance and the HD1 Free falls in the high end price point for sure.
---AUDIO QUALITY---
The mids and highs are very crisp, clear and robust. The highs are not real harsh like other wireless earphones I have tested and distortion is low. Bass feels full and smooth; unexpectedly good for wireless earbuds to be honest. Wireless bluetooth headphones are still not on the same level as wired ones to me but the Sennheiser HD1 Free gives me confidence that it will probably happen sooner rather than later. Call quality is good and clear.
---BATTERY AND CONNECTIVITY---
Battery life is a reported 6 hours and I was able to listen continuously on a full charge (1.5 hours!) for slightly under the 6 hours mark. You can connect up to 2 devices at the same time and it has a 8 device memory which is great to have.
---APP---
There is no current software or app to use that allows customization or tweaking of the headphones. It is something I sort of expected at this price range so it is surprising.
---FINAL VERDICT---
The Sennheiser HD1 Free is a well built lightweight wireless earphone set that performs well where it matters most, audio quality and comfort. With that being said the battery life is about average compared to the competition and the fact that there seems to be no water/sweat resistance is very surprising at this price range. No app support is also a letdown. 2 year warranty is a plus and 1.5 hour charging time is solid.

Good Potential. Nice OTA/Streaming Combo!

***YOU MUST HAVE YOUR OWN OVER THE AIR ANTENNA***
Unpacking and installing the set top device is simple enough as the on screen instructions are clear and concise. I already have an over the air HD Terk antenna for when I needed to watch MLB games because they were not being shown on Optimum's cable service due to contractual issues. My televisions already have built in tuners which allow OTA channels via antenna but this AirTV box scans and shows channels more efficiently, has better signal integrity and more stable quality. The AirTV's connections on the back comprise of 2 USB ports, 1 Digital Audio Out, 1 Ethernet and 1 HDMI of course. The digital out is great for me since I have external speakers I use for all my TVs. The choice of apps is limited at this time but at least you can add Hulu and Netflix, two of the most used streaming apps that I use at home. My main bedroom upstairs does not have a cable box so this little box is perfect for allowing me to see CBS, FOX and NBC and also providing some streaming for now. Perhaps after some future updates there will be additional apps like Plex or international programming. The remote is a contrast to black sleek looking remotes where as the AirTV remote has a clean and easy to read appearance that even younger ones can understand better. I do not see any MicroSD slots for memory or storage expansion so downloading games for example is not ideal right now. I think this AirTV has pretty good potential moving forward. It is intuitive and works relatively fast however the Sling app did freeze up on me a few times already which is not a great start for getting new customers but should be fixed soon hopefully with firmware updates. For the price point I do wish it included some kind of OTA antenna even if it is a lower quality one. You are really paying for a streaming box that has limited apps currently and it requires an antenna on your part for the local broadcast channels. The device is 802.11AC compatible which allows for optimal streaming speeds. I use Roku and Chromecast devices in my house and they work seamlessly with a solid selection of apps and while the AirTV is new and could use some more revisions and refinements, I could definitely see it as a nice streaming/OTA alternative or supplement down the road.

Excellent Range. Simple to Manage. OK speed.
By NYY0420A
My first thought upon opening the router's box and removing the contents was one of simplicity and ease. The good feelings continued on as I plugged in all my network connections and powered on the WRT AC3200. It was a breeze to set up and all I needed was the included printed quick start guide.
Build quality feels nice and it does not feel heavy when I hold the router in my hands but I do find the overall shape to be bulky.
The Linksys settings screen has a simple to navigate and clean user interface. I had no trouble tweaking wireless options, checking for firmware updates or changing the router password.
This router has the best range of all the routers I have ever used in my house. We have a 2200 Sq. Ft. house so it was important that signal coverage and wall penetration all around are excellent. I am getting 4 bars in the wireless indicator as opposed to 3 bars before. Link speeds are higher.
Wireless connection speed is not as fast as my previous router. I have a 109 MBPS Internet connection and I am getting anywhere from 70-90 MBPS on average on the second floor with the Linksys via 802.11AC while my previous router's output was about 109 using 802.11AC as well. Every speed test seems to show slower or faster speeds while my network is under zero load other than the speed test. Establishing a wireless connection to the router is not as fast as I would like and sometimes it has trouble connecting. Wired connections like my Xbox One or OOMA seem more on par and first floor wireless speeds seemed fine.
It comes down to wireless performance here as I am not getting speeds close to what I am supposed to and sometimes when I lose my wireless connection it isn't always quick to re-establish a connection. My hope is since this router came out this year (2016) there is still ample time to improve performance via Linksys firmware updates, WRT or DD-WRT patches.
PROS: Easy Setup and Installation.
Good Build Quality.
Simple to navigate UI.
OpenWRT and DD-WRT support.
Smart Wi-Fi Mobile App.
CONS: Below average medium-long range wireless speeds.
Disconnects sometimes.
Somewhat bulky design.
Pricey.

REVIEW UPDATE: 100% throughput now!
October 24, 2016
In my previous review I had issues with wireless performance on my 2nd floor. Those issues have been resolved by moving my desktop's wireless adapter to a better location and changing the 2.4 GHZ and 5 GHZ frequencies to fixed channels. I have a 200 MBPS connection from Optimum and I am not getting that speed throughout my house. I have had great performance with past Linksys products and have not used them in a few years and I am glad to be back with them again. The router is still a little pricey for my tastes but with some tweaking after installation I can now recommend this router to everyone who is looking for top wired and wireless performance!

Wake up to your favorite music with this iHome IBN43BC clock radio, which features a variety of alarm options, including buzzer, Bluetooth streaming, radio and built-in tones. A speakerphone function lets you enjoy hands-free communication.

where is the usb port located?

USB port is located in the back. I have charged my iPhone 6 and Note 3 on it. I believe it charges at 2.1 amps as the iPhone and Note were charged quickly.

Does it come with a remote control.

No remote. I have three of these clock radios in my house and absolutely love them. Great price and design. Very good sound. It will be hard to find a remote for something this good at less than $100.

Can you charge a laptop

The clock radio only allows charging via its rear USB port. It is meant to charge phones mainly or even tablets. Any device that can charge via USB would work fine but a laptop requires charging via a wall adapter.
