As a projector, this works great, but I didn't really want this model for the quality of the picture; I wanted to take advantage of the wireless capabilities. Those work as well, but they aren't what I would call user-friendly. First of all, to connect to a wireless network, you have to manually enter the network SSID through an onscreen keyboard. That means manually selecting each letter with the up, down, left, and right arrows on the remote, which creates numerous opportunities for error. How hard would it be to list available networks? Evidently too hard for the guys who programmed this machine. Secondly, you can project content from your iPhone or iPad, but only through the associated app. That app will pull in content from cloud services like Dropbox (Good!), but it won't play Keynote presentations (Bad!). Oh, and you can also do screen mirroring, but only on devices that support Miracast (sorry Apple fans). There is a very nifty feature that lets the app find the projector by looking at a QR code that the projector displays, so once you've got it on the network, the rest of the pairing goes quickly. However, getting it on the network in the first place is so clunky, that doesn't feel like much relief. So overall, good projector, but if you're buying it for the wireless capabilities, be prepared for a few technical hurdles.

Overall, the router is working well and has good stability and speed. However, unlike my previous Linksys router, this one is not "smart." That means you can't set it up or manage it through the app. Setup for this one was not especially difficult - it has fairly slick browser interface - but was less convenient than using the app. It did have a firmware update immediately available, which slowed the setup process down, but other than that, it went quickly. Performance has improved over my last router.

Printers have improved a lot since the last time I purchased one. Set up is so much easier now, and photo printing has improved greatly. I set this one up on three different platforms: an iPhone (initially), then a Mac Book Pro, and finally a Windows 10 laptop. My Chromebook is not supported. Setup on the iPhone was a breeze. You plug the printer in, tap two selections to choose your country and language, and the rest is handled in-app. In just a couple of minutes, I was printing a photo from my iPhone photos library through the app, and it came out looking nearly as good as a commercial print. Another nice improvement over my last version is the use of two trays: one for the photo paper and another for the regular paper. You no longer have to pull out your paper and swap when you want to print a photo or vice versa. The iPhone app also allows you to wirelessly scan to your device or automatically add the scan to an email as an attachment. Setup on the Mac was a little more complicated. You have download and install an application, then that application will download and install more software. If you just do it through system preferences, you'll be able to print but not scan. You have to use the app if you want all the features on a Mac. Windows 10 was much simpler. The printer wizard identified and installed drivers then automatically launched the app store, where one click installed the HP app. It's been a long time (maybe never) since I've had a "good" experience with a printer, but this was one.

It has all the standard customizable features of any gaming mouse, but it's the little design touches that make the difference. For example, the USB cord is very pliable, lightweight, and slick, so when you're using the mouse while plugged in, the fact that it's plugged in is barely perceptible. The USB dongle for wireless use has an adapter so you can plug it into the end of the USB cord to keep it closer to the mouse while using it wirelessly and minimize the lag. Profiles can be stored locally on the mouse, so you can use one of the mouse buttons to shift profiles on the fly without having to open the app and change a setting. That app will also tell you in real time how your chosen settings will affect battery life. So, not only can you change the color and the brightness of the lighting, when you make those changes, you can see how much more or less frequently you'll need to recharge.

Do you like the taste of fried food, but don't want to actually dip it in hot oil? Ever wonder what it would sound like to have a helicopter hovering in your kitchen? This may be the appliance for you. It serves its primary function very well: cooking "fried" food without the actual frying. The food it makes is tasty and cooked to perfection. The downside is the large amount of noise involved in accomplishing that cooking. It also produces a very hot basket that's not the easiest to manipulate. And you're going to have to refill that basket several times if you want to serve more than a couple of portions. Overall, good at what it does, but you have to put up with a few inconveniences. Probably worth it just to avoid dealing with all the oil that's left over from regular frying.

Good set of headphones, but if you're looking for a lot of bass, you're not going to find it here. The headphones are easy to pair and keep a good connection. The neat feature is the ability to pair a second set of headphones to this set of headphones. The sound plays and passes through so you both can listen in sync. Overall, sound quality is good, but the bass is a little weak and dependent on the positioning of the earpieces. They're just big enough to fit over my ears, but if the headset isn't adjusted properly, they won't seat well, compromising the quality of the bass.

Standard bluetooth range is supposed to be around 30ft. These were sketchy at around 5ft. They were also very dependent on which way my head was facing. When they had a decent connection, the sound quality was good enough, but definitely not high-end. I didn't thoroughly test the waterproof claim (which also seems to be dependent on having the charging connection cover firmly in place), but they did survive a very sweaty workout without issue. However, the shape did manage to channel some sweat directly into my ear canal. Initially, I liked the over-the-ear configuration of the connecting wire because it keeps that wire out of the way, but it became uncomfortable after 15-20 minutes.

When I saw the specs for this, I was assuming I could get rid of one of my hubs that I have stacked near my router. Not so. While it replicates some of the functionality of a Smart Things hub, it does not replicate everything. It also forces you to download and use yet another app to set it up. And that setup is not without its own set of headaches. Every time I added a hub, I had to wait for the app to time out trying to find the hub. Once it had timed out, it found it immediately on the retry--all three times. Adding network smart devices to the hub was painless enough, but it's impossible to port over the smart things hub to the connect app. That means you have to keep both apps on your phone, and you can't ditch your existing hub either. So far, the mesh network portion of the product doesn't appear to be working any better or worse than the previous mesh network I had set up in my home. It initially said one of my hubs was too far away from the other hubs, but after a refresh, it said it was fine. Placement was the same as my previous setup. For someone that doesn't have a smart things hub, this is probably a good entry product if you're looking to also move to a mesh network. If you have an existing mesh network and smart things hub, this is not a compelling upgrade.

I thought this would be a neat DIY project for my kids to put something together, but this is more of a learning kit than a construction project. The key to it is the app-based nature of the experience. It leads you through several stages of learning about electromagnetism and sound, and it has half a dozen side projects that expand on the learning experience far beyond just putting a speaker together. This was a great learning experience for both my 7 and 9 year old, and at the end, you have a cool bluetooth speaker with customizable LED lights.

The whole point of truly wireless earbuds is to not have something hanging around your neck while using them. That makes the idea of charging them in a neck-shaped holder inconvenient at best and self-defeating at worst. You don't have to keep the charger around your neck, but then it's an awkward shape to put in a travel bag or even leave on a desktop. I understand that in some situations, the neck-charger provides additional vibrating notifications, but that's not worth the hassle. On top of that intrinsic design flaw, the ear buds themselves don't work that great. One of the primary use cases I wanted them for was to listen to my TV while working out. I have another pair of wired bluetooth earbuds that always seem to work themselves around to one side of my neck. I thought the completely wireless solution would alleviate that issue, but these would not work with my Samsung TV. I got them to pair, but the sound kept cutting out and switching back and forth between the two earbuds. Unusable in that scenario. They worked reasonably well with my iPhone, but the sound quality was tinny. There was a distinct lack of bass, especially for buds that fit inside the ear. If you only ever plan to use these with a phone, and you don't care that much about the quality of the sound, but you want something hanging around your neck all the time, then these are the earbuds for you.

Does the Sony 1000XM3 InEar have it's own volume control? I need to amplify my listening, while my wife listens to the normal TV volume. I have a pair of the Sony 1000XM# over the Ear Head Phones and of course they DO have volume control. Thanks.
No, the on-ear controls only control playback; you have to control the volume on the device you're connected to.

Add stability to your home network with the Amped Wireless HELIOS-EX Wi-Fi Extender. This Amped Wireless HELIOS-EX Wi-Fi Extender covers an area of up to 12,000 sq. ft. and includes four Gigabit network ports.
Can it use the same SSID as my TWC modem?
It will "clone" your SSID by adding a suffix to it, but it won't let you use the identical SSID. If you want to extend a network that way, you need to go with a mesh network.
