Some cool differentiating features

As far as the basics of the phone go, it's quite capable. The screen is sharp, the camera takes good pictures, and the processor is quick. It's not the top of the line at anything, but it holds it's own against the competition. The thing that makes this a better Android phone, in my opinion, are the Google assistant features. There's one for migrating your information over from your old iPhone that works surprisingly well. Another nice surprise is the photo assistant. After importing your library of photos from both your camera roll and your messages, it takes pictures that were shot together and turns them into animations or panoramas. The one annoying thing is the placement of the fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone. It's not such a big deal when you're pulling the phone out of your pocket, and may even be an advantage in that situation, but it's a pain when your phone is plugged in and laying on your desk, and you have to pick it up to reach the sensor. It's a minor quibble, but it's the one thing that stood out to me as a design flaw.

Great headphones with unique controls

The most essential thing for headphones to do is produce good sound, and these meet that test easily. The next step is to provide good noise cancelling, which these also do. An added benefit is that the voice they use for status updates ("Bluetooth connected") is very pleasant and soothing. I've used some headphones where those announcements are very jarring. The unique feature of these headphones that sets them apart from others is the touch controls. To raise or lower volume, simply swipe up or down on the outside of the right earpiece. To skip or rewind tracks, swipe forward or back. To play or pause just give a brief tap. The only issue with those controls is that you can inadvertently pause your music when you didn't mean to if your hand happens to bump that earpiece; however, that rarely happens. They also come with a good, sturdy case for traveling. Bluetooth pairing is quick, easy, and reliable.

Worth it at twice the price

We've been looking for a good solution to clean our hardwood floors since moving into a new house, and this is it. Probably the best aspect of this is how quickly the floors dry after going over them with the CrossWave. Used just like the directions say, with one vacuuming pass after the mopping pass, the floor is completely dry by the time you're two strips over. You can clearly see the dirt coming up with the cleaning solution as you're going, and there's absolutely no residue left behind. We've used it on both hardwood and tile floors with equally good results on both.

If you're in a hurry, this won't be a good replacement for one of those single-serve coffee makers with the throw-away cups. But if you take a lot of interest in crafting the perfect cup of coffee, this is the machine for you. You can make a lot of adjustments to get your coffee just right, and if you're an iced coffee lover, there's capabilities there too. It comes with a reusable filter, so if throwing away all those single-serve plastic cups bothers you, you can brew a more sustainable cup of coffee. One drawback is that the frother is not a steamer, so you have to heat the milk separately, but for iced coffee, that's actually a plus. Finally, it's very easy to disassemble for cleaning. Overall, a great kitchen tool, but one that's going to require a little more effort per cup.

Sized perfectly for an iPhone 6s Plus, the lightning connector is also adjustable to fit a wide variety of cases. If you're using a 6s, there will be a bit of the stand visible on either side of the phone. The watch connector works well, and unlike many other watch stands, the charger is built in, so you don't have to supply your own charging puck and wind the cord through the stand. In fact, for this connector, you don't need a charging cable or USB connection at all. The power is wired directly from the base of the stand and uses a standard wall plug. However, the brick is rather large, so you may need some extra room on a power strip, depending on how the plugs are configured. The watch charger does hold it in a vertical position, so the "nightstand" mode is not going to be available while your watch is charging. The stand itself is weighted well, so it's not going to move around when taking your phone or watch off the charger.

A better Chromebook

Probably the best feature of this Chromebook is the ability to run Android apps. Yes, you have to enable the developer channel, and yes it's still a little buggy. However, the build will improve, and this will be one of the first Chromebooks to receive official support for the feature. The hardware itself is decent but not overly impressive. The plastic construction doesn't scream quality, but the touchscreen is responsive, it switches from laptop to tablet mode easily and reliably, and the keyboard is decent. The only real issue I had with the hardware was the touchpad. It gives a little bit like it's clicking, but you really have to push hard to get a genuine click. Tapping on the touchpad worked fine, and an external wireless mouse also worked fine. Like all Chromebooks, app selection is limited, but as earlier mentioned, that will be much less of a problem once Android app support gets more fully baked in.

Reasonably good for an Android

It's got a decent amount of memory and is reasonably fast, but overall build feels a little cheap. The case is lightweight plastic and does nothing to disguise the feel. The screen picks up fingerprints easily but isn't so easy to wipe off. There's a noticeable lag between screen taps and when those taps register in the OS. The picture is good, but the sound is a little tinny coming out of tiny speakers on each side.

imposing and effective

This is a large router. It's not going fit in neatly next to your cable modem or hide in your electronics console. It looks like it could blanket the neighborhood in WiFi, and apparently that's what it was designed to do. Prior to installing this, I had habitual trouble reaching downstairs with a signal, even with a network extender. Netflix had trouble keeping up with an SD stream. Now I'm easily streaming 4K video, while also streaming content to a tablet. It's a vast improvement over my previous (not cheap) router, and it's eliminated the dead zones I thought couldn't be reached.

My wife hated all the fitness trackers I've tried because of the way they look. This makes it look enough like a watch, that she now kind of likes it. The leather band was initially a little stiff and "new" looking, but it weathered quickly and now looks good and fits comfortably. May be a little small for those with larger wrists, but fits me fine.

better than the Xbox One

After having a week end with both, I can say the PS4 is better than the Xbox One for several reasons. First, it's $100 cheaper. Second, it doesn't require an external power brick, which takes up extra space. Third, it has a smaller footprint. Fourth, it loads games much faster when installing from disc. Fifth, better graphics. Sixth, it don't require PS Plus just to stream Netflix or Hulu. Seventh, if you do pay for PS Plus, you get better/more free games. Eighth, second screen/remote play functionality with the PS Vita. Finally, the controller comes with a built-in rechargeable battery, but you have to pay another $25 to get that functionality for your Xbox controller. There's only two arguments I can see for the Xbox: First, it provides those rear USB ports so I can charge both controllers without having cords sticking out of the front of my consoles. Second, if for some reason you want to funnel your cable box output through the console, it has that functionality.
