Hugh Wilson's popular comedy Police Academy gets a loving 20th anniversary DVD release from Warner Bros. on this disc. The film is presented in a widescreen transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of the film. English and French soundtracks are faithfully rendered in Dolby Digital Mono. English, French, and Spanish subtitles are accessible. The high point of the extra materials is the commentary track featuring star Steve Guttenberg, G.W. Bailey, sound-effects maker extraordinaire Michael Winslow, Leslie Easterbrook, producer Paul Maslansky, and director Wilson. The group is obviously proud of the film, and has a blast reminiscing. Their good spirits are infectious. The 30-minute making-of featurette is also well done, containing interviews with some of the people who did not take part in the commentary and ending on a bittersweet note with a clip from the deceased David Graf (Tackleberry), who talks about how happy he is if this film is his legacy. This is a solid release from Warner Bros. and is easily the best of all the Police Academy discs.

Pretty good movie

Each character brought something different to the table and they were all funny in their own way. This is just a classic comedy so if you like the Caddyshack, or Animal House, or Porky's there is a good chance that you will like Police Academy.
What's great about it: Good actors and actresses, plenty of laughs, a classic like animal house or porkys

Great movie

My girlfriend urged me to buy this movie (Before yesterday I had never seen it) and looking at the cast I thought how could I go wrong. I was overly shocked as too how interesting Brad Pitt's story about his life after being born into darkness was. I could have watched a whole series based on his life as a vampire. My girlfriend who is obsessed with vampire novels pointed out very few mistakes/changes in this movie compared to twilight and I have to take her word on saying that this is the most accurate movie to novel she has ever seen.
What's great about it: actors, plot, great representation of the book
What's not so great: Nothing besides I wished it was longer

Favorite Holiday movie

This is one of the rare occasions where I don't mind a bunch of singing throughout the movie because the songs are quite catchy. The picture quality is excellent, my girlfriend kept saying how real some of the objects looked in the movie. The audio quality is what really got to me, being on blu-ray I was able to enjoy this movie in 7.1 surround sound and This movie has something special for everyone who watches it and has great characters like the mayor, the trick or treaters, oogie boogie, jack, and so many more that are very unique and interesting. The digital copy is also nice for those who have ipods are phones capable of downloading such material.
What's great about it: A classic halloween/christmas movie, very interesting, unique characters.
What's not so great: nothing

A Rent before you buy movie

Kevin James is much better in the King of Queens and I now pronounce you Chuck & Larry. I laughed maybe twice, and two laughs gets two stars. Another thing that I disliked about this movie was the "bad guys" who were even more stupid than the criminals from the Home Alone movies...I mean c'mon. Caution: Rent before you buy.
What's great about it: Kevin James is about the only good thing in this movie
What's not so great: Wasn't really all that funny

The Perfect Match

So my setup includes (2) Definitive Mythos STS front speakers, One Definitive Mythos Ten center channel, a Martin Logan Dynamo sub, and four of the XL Gems. I have a really nice 7.1 setup, but unfortunately at this time there is not much content delivering 7.1 but I'm set for the future. So technically speaking this setup is not correct since I should have got the mythos nine center and just the regular gems, but I'm moving into a much nicer apartment and the living area is much larger so I wanted a little bigger sound all around. These speakers are like my STS's except for the bass, but they are extremely clear and pack a punch whenever you need it. This might seem funny, but the movie I watched first was Pinnochio on blu-ray because it is in 7.1 and the most interactive scene is in the work shop where Geppedo has all the toys go off and celebrates Pinnochio being alive. Every speaker was giving me something different and it put me in the movie better than any theater has been able to. Besides audio quality, they have a supreme build quality and are much more durable to wear and tear also can stand up against pets better than most speakers can.
What's great about it: Matches the rest of my setup perfectly
What's not so great: I waited too long to get them.

Filled with suspense until the end...like magic

I saw this movie when it first came out and waited longer than I should have to buy it. Christopher Nolan is in my top 3 favorite directors and he never disappoints. Each member of the cast was a perfect selection for his/her part and the rivalry between Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman is fascinating. The movie starts out with (in a sense) pieces of a puzzle because you are shown both present and future scenes and you know the are put together, but you don't know what leads to it and the suspense only builds higher and higher from there. The story is filled with deception, suspense, jealousy, hatred, and revenge. Two magicians battling to be the best and have taken many risks/chances to doing so. In the end, all is revealed and then you realize that this is an amazing movie and should be part of every collection.
What's great about it: Christopher Nolan, Amazing actors/actresses, captivating plot, filled with suspense
What's not so great: The movie jumps from future to present quite often and could lead some to get lost.

Very Shocking

I hadn't heard much before I bought this movie, but I'm glad I did. It's not like any other movie that I've seen. I couldn't believe how grumpy and racist Clint Eastwood could be. There is a huge twist though that you would never expect and I guess it is his way of getting rid of his burdens carried from the Korean War. The ending hits kinda hard, especially for my girlfriend (who didn't think she would like the movie). I thought it was pretty good overall, but you might want to rent before you buy just to see if it has the same impact on you.
What's great about it: Clint Eastwood, captivating movie, shows a lot of how society has changed for the worse.
What's not so great: There wasn't a lot of great acting outside of Clint Eastwood, but still made a pretty good movie.

A must buy for any Dave and Tim lovers

The details imprinted on this disc of this concert are so amazing, so far this is the best concert disc that I have ever seen and is the closest experience to an actual live concert that I have ever come across. You really need to have some high quality speakers to enjoy this blu-ray though. Your tv speakers will no where near justify the quality of audio on this disc. I have Definitive STS speakers and they sound amazing for music and movies, but if you are a pure music lover I have to say that I would strongly suggest that you go with Martin Logan Puritys because those delivered the best performance for this concert. (Only BB with Magnolia stores will carry these speakers) Tim Reynolds is a guitar maestro, he makes sounds through his guitar that you would have never thought that a guitar could produce. In my personal opinion without Tim Reynolds I wouldn't even think about buying this because he just makes it that good that magazines like Sound and Vision rate it as one of their top blu-ray performances.
What's great about it: Blu-ray audio formats are sooooo much better than dvd audio formats, It is an exciting show from beginning to end.
What's not so great: You need to have high quality speakers to really enjoy this show.

One of my fav. sci-fi movies

This is a rare situation where the sequel is (what I believe) better than the original. I think what really did it for me was the character development of John Connor, I mean in the first movie all you hear about is this prodigy child. Here we get to see John Connor enter the war and how quickly he matures and understands his role in saving humanity. The bad guy is a step up from Arnold and is really impressive. My favorite scene is the canal scene. I didn't have this movie on dvd and what made it an easy decision was the the better picture quality and audio quality (dts-hd master audio). There are way more extras than what anyone needs, so if you are into that by all means go at it.
What's great about it: Character development of John Conner, DTS-HD master audio, acting, action, extras
What's not so great: nothing

The closest to the best of a metallica cd

The symphony really adds a unique listening experience. It did include just about every song that I really enjoy like: Master of Puppets, Enter Sandman, Fuel, One, and there are plenty more. I think this is a must buy for anyone who likes these legends, unless you don't care for the symphony aspect.
What's great about it: Included almost all my favorite songs, I actually like them playing with the symphony as well
What's not so great: Didn't have the track Unforgiven II

how do wireless speakers work ? How expensive are they

I thought the "rock" speakers advertised on tv were wireless.
No the rock speakers are not wireless unfortunately. There are two different kind of "wireless speakers." The first kind is not really wireless, but helps get rid of some of the wires and how it does this is there is a wireless transmitter and receiver offered by Rocketfish (Brand name) for either $100 or $105. You will need a receiver (yamaha, onkyo, denon, pioneer, etc.) where you will hook up a transmitter to two speaker terminals and that will send a signal to the Rocketfish receiver which will have two speaker wires going to those two speakers and the receiver portion will power those. Now there are some wireless speakers also offered through rocketfish, but there is a catch to these. You have to use a ton of batteries and it will only work for (if I remember right) 10 hours, but you get rid of the cords and if you have rechargeable batteries maybe this will be the right way to go for you. My personal opinion about wireless speakers is that it is more hassle than what its worth since there are very few options to the quality of speakers you can get and they often cut out due to phone calls, taxi/cop radios, and other frequencies can interfere with that signal. If you really want speakers in your backyard (I'm assuming since you were looking at either the insignia rock speakers or the speakercraft rock speakers that you don't plan on putting them in your living room...unless you like the primitive look jk) then you should run speaker wire to them just for ease and quality purposes. If you don't feel comfortable doing that I'm sure there is a Geek Squad Service that would do that for you.

Small speakers

I have an Insignia 19" TV/DVD combo that I would like to add speakers to, in order to enhance the sound. Don't want anything that dwarfs the tv, just something in a small size that would compliment the tv.
Buy computer speakers that have just your regular red and white audio cables. Bose has a pair for 99.99 that work very well, but it is entirely up to you.

Multi-zone DVD player hard to find

Many DVD devices are billed as being able to play disks from zones other than the US (1), but I have returned many machines shotrly after purchase. Staffers have so far not been able to identify the solution. Is it possible to try some of these DVD's in the store first? Cost has not been an issue, as most of the players are reasonable.
Best Buy doesn't have any international dvd players (meaning it can only play dvds from the U.S.) You will have to get one online somewhere else.

speakers that plug into wall

I have no available USB port to connect both cables to computer, I need the old kind with one cable that plugs into wall outlet. Do you carry these?
This is a very vague question, with no idea of what you are connecting and the fact that there are hundreds of cables it is hard to answer the question. What it sounds like is that you need an extra usb port where I would be shocked if Bestbuy didn't have some kind of adapter that would allow you to switch between usb connections.

Where can i get American Acoustics sub speaker for floor speakers

I've never heard of the brand American Acoustics, so I'm going to assume you mean an American company that produces subwoofers. There is only one that comes to mind and that is Martin Logan. They have two models the Dynamo and the Abyss. The Dynamo has more than enough kick for most home theaters, but if you want absolute raw power than I suggest you go with the Abyss.

blue tooth outputs

i was wondering if it was possible to be able to hook a bluetooth speaker up to multiple speakers????
I don't know if you mean wireless speakers, but you can buy wireless transmitters. Each transmitter is good for 2 speakers. They are made by rocketfish, which is a pretty reliable brand.

Sound Vibrations from TV

I purchased a 60" Samsung when the sound is turned up there is a vibration. I do not have external speakers and was wondering if that might solve the problem. Geek Squad set up the set and I have not changed the settings.
To be completely honest, the sound quality of speakers on tv's are as terrible as they come. You are probably looking at 40 watts of speaker power at tops. External speakers would be one way to go. You would just have to purchase some computer speakers and have it plugged into the audio output on the tv. I highly suggest you just save your money or apply for a Best Buy credit card and just buy a receiver and two additional speakers (you can always add on to your receiver to give you a surround sound instead of a stereo set up, which is two front speakers).
