Great Album

The first three tracks are absolutely amazing. Devour and the sound of madness are greats songs for when you really want to get pumped up. Shinedown is a unique band that can deliver blood pumping music, but also turn around and give you something soothing to listen to and they pull it off with great expertise.
What's great about it: Track 1-3, 10 (my personal favs) Some very energizing tracks and some emotional tracks.
What's not so great: There were only four songs that really took my interest, the others were so so

A great movie

It is rare for me to buy a Disney/Pixar movie, I'm more of an action/blood/gore kind of guy, but seeing how well it was flying off the shelves, I had to give it a shot. I was not disappointed, and I don't recall ever being disappointed with a Pixar film. Wall-E captures the heart of every viewer and takes you along for his exciting journey. The morals of the movie are great and something everyone should follow to make this world a better place.
What's great about it: story, characters, morals of the story
What's not so great: nothing

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 comes to DVD with a pair of transfers. The widescreen anamorphic transfer preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1, and is preferable to the standard full-frame image. Closed-captioned English soundtracks are rendered in both Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Digital Surround. English subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include the trailer, an interactive game, and extra features for those with access to a DVD-ROM drive. This is a solid release from New Line.

I absolutely love this movie. This is by far the best in the series. The Foot (a Japanese crime organization in America) seems crumbled after the destruction of Shredder in the first movie, but like all bad guys Shredder comes back and at the end of the movie gets supersized. The guys (turtles) have to find a new place to stay because the foot knows the location of their old place. All I'm going to say is that the new place they find is tight. Considering when this movie was made, there was a lot of action. This truly is a shell-shocking experience that everyone should enjoy.
What's great about it: One of my favorite cartoons turned into a movie, Best in the series
What's not so great: nothing

Best vampire movie
on November 17, 2008

This is my favorite vampire movie, and with digital picture and sound it is only better. These vampires are slightly traditional, but are more gruesome than any other group of vampires that I had ever seen. They are like wolves amongst a herd of sheep and it is for the most part just a slaughter. Whoever put two to two together with Alaska having 30 days of night and making that a great opporunity for vampires is a genius. Survivors have to make their way through the town getting what supplies they can so they can survive, but doing so is not so easy but they have two advantages they know the town and they know the cold. A must own for vampire lovers.
What's great about it: More gruesome than your average vampires, interesting scenario and story line.
What's not so great: Nothing

Best comic book movie out to date

In response to the only "bad" review to this movie, everyone did a great job acting even though I would have rather had Katie Holmes at Rachel, but the Maggie did a good job for that part. What made the other actors/actresses possibly not look as good is Heath Ledger. Heath Ledger as the Joker, not one person can honestly say that they thought he was going to perform as well as he did. Never in his career has he starred as a character as dark, twisted, and crafty as the Joker. His role outshined the other characters, but with exception to Rachel, you couldn't have picked a better cast for this movie. Most of us have seen the movie, but in regards to those who haven't I won't spoil it but I will say that Aaron Eckhart did an amazing job bringing out his other side throughout the movie. (hint, hint)
This is the darkest chapter of the Batman saga, with the perfect combination of action, suspense, and drama.
After what happened to Heath Ledger, can we expect another movie with this fantastic cast directed by Christopher Nolan? I know that this series can't end like this...after all that is what happened with the Michael Keaton series. Two good gothic style batman movies were made and they were amazing especially the first one, but with Michael Keaton gone...it took an enitrely different angle and I was not much of a fan of those movies. Now with the Christian Bale series, I have been nothing less than astonished by what Christopher Nolan has done and there must be a third movie or else DC movies is pretty much done for another twenty years before they remake the movies again.
What's great about it: Heath Ledger gave his greatest performance, story line, acting,
What's not so great: will there be a third movie after what happened to Heath Ledger?

best game out to date for 360
on November 16, 2008

My previous 360 received the red ring of death, so I upgraded to the elite and purchased this game along with it on the same day. I have a 1080P samsung and have never gamed in 1080P until I played gears of war 2. It was breathtaking between the sound and graphics. My surround sound put me right in the game. If you thought the first one was good...well this one is even better. I loved using wounded locusts as body shields as I went crazy with my magnum. Riding on enemy vessels/creatures was awesome especially the Brumack...omg the damage I did with that bad boy was insane. There are more characters which make the game more entertaining and keep the interests of those who gamed the 1st one. They added more finishing moves and the levels were more intense. This game is an absolute blood bath adventure, which is why it may be more suitable for teens and adults, but this is definately one of the best games out on shelves today.
What's great about it: Jaw dropping graphics and sound, more characters on both sides, great story line
What's not so great: Beat it in a day...now I have to wait for the 3rd one.

Like seeing it for the very first time

Between my surround sound, my tv, and my blu-ray player these movies were AMAZING. I felt like the bullets were grazing past me! I even noticed things I had never noticed due to the crystal clear picture. I was "iffy" about selling my matrix dvds just because they are available on blu-ray, but after reading previous reviews I decided to do it. There are certain movies that I simply call "blu-ray worthy" which means if there is plenty of action like in movies such as these or 300 or Black Hawk Down or Transformers...those movies are worth the selling of the dvds and upgrading to blu-ray. The only regret I have of this purchase is the animatrix just because I'm not into anime movies, there are tons of extras for those who are interested.
What's great about it: Seeing and Hearing it in HD
What's not so great: Animatrix

No turning back

I went to BB searching for some rear speakers, I have done my research so I know that Vienna Acoustics produces speakers of the highest quality. I currently have Mirage O2 speakers: two towers, two bookshelf speakers, and a center. These blow my mirage tower speakers out of the way and made me feally disappointed that I had purchased the mirage speakers. Mirage speakers are great but this is the difference between a mustang (mirage) and a lamborghini (Vienna) if that provides a better picture. If you compare these speakers by the numbers there isn't too much of a difference, but when you hear them for the first time there is no turning away from Vienna Acoustics. I have never heard better sounds coming from a speaker in all my life, so I have to save up and either get these or the Vienna Schonberg Speakers because there is just no turning back. These speakers are a bit pricy, but are the best quality that Magnolia offers.
What's great about it: For the power it produces it sounds crystal clear like you are part of the action
What's not so great: pricy

I have never had cable in my entire life...some wonder how I do it, but this antenna allows me to watch local sports in either 720p or 1080i resolution. For the most part the reception is great, but once in awhile it just doesn't work to well. Another thing I noticed is whenever my girlfriend got a text message the reception went weird and she would get really really mad because it was during one of her shows I pointed out the problem and now she leaves her cell phone in the other room and checks it during commercials. I think in the long run it is worth the money. (I've had this antenna for about a year now)
What's great about it: Some channels I get in 1080i and is amazing
What's not so great: text messages mess up the reception

Steven Spielberg's variation on Peter Pan, Hook comes to DVD with a superb widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 2.35:1. Closed-captioned English soundtracks are rendered in both Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Digital Surround. English subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include theatrical trailers, talent files, and production notes. This disc offers excellent picture and sound quality, making it worth a look, especially considering the reasonable list price.

This is a classic!

First of all addressing other reviews, this doesn't demolish the Disney classic. LOOK AT THE TITLE it is Hook not Peter Pan. This movie takes place decades later, so don't expect this movie to go hand in hand with the Disney classic. To put it simply, Peter Pan had fallen in love with Wendy's grand-daughter and wanted to live with her for the rest of his life. Adopting the American lifestyle, Peter Pan has his name changed to Peter Panney, and gets too caught up in work and trying to succeed in all he can do by living the American dream. He forgets who he once was and takes the role as a hard-working husband and father. Peter Pan can't escape his enemies though, when Hook comes and takes his children and therefore provokes Peter Pan to return to Neverland. Peter Pan must relearn all his skills and remember what it is like to be a child and have fun in life. Spielberg did an amazing job, the actors/actresses were great for their parts. It is an adventure that is exciting from beginning to end especially for those who have seen the Disney classic.
What's great about it: This movie is really enjoyable and tackles an obstacle in most Americans' lives which is work vs. play
What's not so great: A little out-dated with special affects

how do wireless speakers work ? How expensive are they

I thought the "rock" speakers advertised on tv were wireless.
No the rock speakers are not wireless unfortunately. There are two different kind of "wireless speakers." The first kind is not really wireless, but helps get rid of some of the wires and how it does this is there is a wireless transmitter and receiver offered by Rocketfish (Brand name) for either $100 or $105. You will need a receiver (yamaha, onkyo, denon, pioneer, etc.) where you will hook up a transmitter to two speaker terminals and that will send a signal to the Rocketfish receiver which will have two speaker wires going to those two speakers and the receiver portion will power those. Now there are some wireless speakers also offered through rocketfish, but there is a catch to these. You have to use a ton of batteries and it will only work for (if I remember right) 10 hours, but you get rid of the cords and if you have rechargeable batteries maybe this will be the right way to go for you. My personal opinion about wireless speakers is that it is more hassle than what its worth since there are very few options to the quality of speakers you can get and they often cut out due to phone calls, taxi/cop radios, and other frequencies can interfere with that signal. If you really want speakers in your backyard (I'm assuming since you were looking at either the insignia rock speakers or the speakercraft rock speakers that you don't plan on putting them in your living room...unless you like the primitive look jk) then you should run speaker wire to them just for ease and quality purposes. If you don't feel comfortable doing that I'm sure there is a Geek Squad Service that would do that for you.

Small speakers

I have an Insignia 19" TV/DVD combo that I would like to add speakers to, in order to enhance the sound. Don't want anything that dwarfs the tv, just something in a small size that would compliment the tv.
Buy computer speakers that have just your regular red and white audio cables. Bose has a pair for 99.99 that work very well, but it is entirely up to you.

Multi-zone DVD player hard to find

Many DVD devices are billed as being able to play disks from zones other than the US (1), but I have returned many machines shotrly after purchase. Staffers have so far not been able to identify the solution. Is it possible to try some of these DVD's in the store first? Cost has not been an issue, as most of the players are reasonable.
Best Buy doesn't have any international dvd players (meaning it can only play dvds from the U.S.) You will have to get one online somewhere else.

speakers that plug into wall

I have no available USB port to connect both cables to computer, I need the old kind with one cable that plugs into wall outlet. Do you carry these?
This is a very vague question, with no idea of what you are connecting and the fact that there are hundreds of cables it is hard to answer the question. What it sounds like is that you need an extra usb port where I would be shocked if Bestbuy didn't have some kind of adapter that would allow you to switch between usb connections.

Where can i get American Acoustics sub speaker for floor speakers

I've never heard of the brand American Acoustics, so I'm going to assume you mean an American company that produces subwoofers. There is only one that comes to mind and that is Martin Logan. They have two models the Dynamo and the Abyss. The Dynamo has more than enough kick for most home theaters, but if you want absolute raw power than I suggest you go with the Abyss.

blue tooth outputs

i was wondering if it was possible to be able to hook a bluetooth speaker up to multiple speakers????
I don't know if you mean wireless speakers, but you can buy wireless transmitters. Each transmitter is good for 2 speakers. They are made by rocketfish, which is a pretty reliable brand.

Sound Vibrations from TV

I purchased a 60" Samsung when the sound is turned up there is a vibration. I do not have external speakers and was wondering if that might solve the problem. Geek Squad set up the set and I have not changed the settings.
To be completely honest, the sound quality of speakers on tv's are as terrible as they come. You are probably looking at 40 watts of speaker power at tops. External speakers would be one way to go. You would just have to purchase some computer speakers and have it plugged into the audio output on the tv. I highly suggest you just save your money or apply for a Best Buy credit card and just buy a receiver and two additional speakers (you can always add on to your receiver to give you a surround sound instead of a stereo set up, which is two front speakers).
