Could have been better

First of all Topher Grace is a scronny little white kid and Eddie Brock in the comics is a muscular jock so that was one bad decision. Two the new Goblin wasn't bad, but he is supposed to be the new green goblin not the green surfer. Last of all Peter Parker is supposed to have some personality changes due to the suit, but going emo is not the best route. Perhaps my favorite scene of the suit altering his personality is when he totally loses his cool and gets in a fight with this bouncer at this little jazz club where Mary Jane works.
Now that all the negative is out of the way...Venom looked sweet like I never expected him to look as good as he did, he could have been a little bigger but over all I am very satisfied with his appearance. There is A LOT of personality issues that have much to do with the developing of the character of Spiderman, but they may have had just a little too much of that and not enough fighting. I saw this movie on blu-ray at my friends place and have to say that it looked really good unfortunately he doesn't have surround sound so I couldn't tell you the difference in just hearing it. I have DVDs that I would sell to upgrade to blu-ray, but this just doesn't cut it (unless you don't have the movie than you can buy the whole set on blu-ray and that would definately be worth it).
What's great about it: Spider-man is an amazing superhero, Venom looks raw, looks amazing on blu-ray.
What's not so great: Anyone who has ever seen the comics know that Venom know Topher Grace does not fit the role. Emo spiderman

What I grew up watching
on October 30, 2008

This was in my top five favorite cartoons while growing up. I own most of the cartoons that I watched growing up...kinda pathetic but they are still fun to watch. This is the greatest series of batman cartoons. I bought all four volumes separately resulting in a total cost of $110-$120 I wish this set was available sooner because I could have saved some money. This really explains how the villains came to be and how they have shaped the destiny of Bruce Wayne and those who aided him (Robin, Bat girl and Nightwing) There are several lessons that can be learned from these episodes too, which makes it more suitable for children.
What's great about it: It's Batman, the price!
What's not so great: This should have been available sooner

A diamond in the rough

I have quite the vast collection of dvds, but a couple years ago I saw a movie I had never heard of and that movie was the Boondock Saints. All I said was OMG I bought it right after I saw it at my friends house.
First of all it is funny watching two brothers with no prior experience with guns trying to take on Russian mafia and other murderers, rapists, etc. and succeeding! They go into situations with having really no plan and end up gjving you an amazing battle where they just smoke the bad guys.
I have this movie on DVD and it might seem stupid to buy it on blu-ray also, but this movie is one of my personal favorites and if you haven't seen it than you should definately go rent it and I hope you love it and will also purchase it when it shows up in the blu-ray section at BB.
What's great about it: An amazing movie involving two brothers taking on the world's evil that will have you at the edge of your seat.
What's not so great: Nothing

When Spielberg had skills
on October 26, 2008
Posted by: Barback
from Milwaukee, WI
This is one of Spielberg's best films which has an overall message of respecting the dead. A family has lived for years in this house and have never experienced any problems, but after digging up their backyard to make room for a pool they dig up the history of the land of which their house was built. Spirits take over the house and cause a series of events to take place involving a possessed tree, clown doll, and much more. The youngest daughter communicates through the static of the television set and eventually is seized by the spirits because of what she possesses. Her family goes through a series of attempts to rescue their little girl and find out what is happening to their house. At the time this movie came out, it was probably hailed as one of the best horror movies ever and to this day is known as a classic horror which still has the abilities to send shivers down the spine.
What's great about it: Interesting story, a classic horror, probably the best ghost related movie.
What's not so great: The special effects are not as superb as they are today.

SO much better than the 2003 Hulk.
on October 23, 2008

I bought this movie after seeing it in theaters. I am a big comic books movie fan of both DC and Marvel and was very pleased that they had the Hulk movie redone. It wasn't as good as iron man, which to me is Marvel's best movie yet, but the Hulk is just a beast that can't be stopped his love for Betty Ross makes him more powerful than any foe even though the Abomination is more than a worthy adversary. I loved how they involved the super soldier serum, which is what made captain america, who I was so happy when he died in the comics. In the end you get a little surprise, but not much of a surprise if you are used to seeing Marvel movies because they almost always put something after the credits or right after the movie giving you hope to another film like x-men did with Charles Xavier coming back in a different body, or Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson....mistake) meeting with Tony Stark, all I'm saying is that it would be sweet if the next time we see the Hulk is when he would be fighting the Hulk Buster and that's enough of a clue I believe.
What's great about it: Edward Norton as Bruce Banner, great ties to other comics and marvel avengers movie.
What's not so great: Mr. Blue's acting was a little weird, previews gave away a little too much of the movie.

Hellboy is just too much for younger kids.
on October 22, 2008
Posted by: Barback
Let me start out with the best part of the movie, the boss scene is sooooooooooo much better than the original Hellboy where he just kills the dam thing the end. I really thought the ending of the last one prevented the making of another one, but unfortunately I was wrong. The boss fight in this movie was actually worth watching.
I like the character hellboy because he looks pretty raw and his attitude gives him an edge that appeals to older teens and young adults, but for the rest of the characters they look like they were taken out of the children's movie pan's labyrinth and I really didn't have a choice whether I saw this movie or not and was dragged to the movie theater. This movie is just too "kiddy" and if it wasn't for Hellboy it would be rated PG. I wouldn't accept this movie if it were free.
What's great about it: boss battle is better than first movie
What's not so great: The characters are so fairytale like pan's labyrinth.

The Best Movie on Blu-ray
on October 6, 2008
Posted by: Barback
I saw this movie the day it came out and it has stunned me ever since. I have the Batman Begins on Blu-ray too, which shows the first scene of the darknight. At first I was shocked when they were going to use Heath Ledger, who for me had ruined his reputation with Brokeback mountain, as the Joker. I would never had guessed that he would have done such a tremendous job at playing the Joker. Now I thought Jack Nicholson's performance as the Joker was absolotutely fenominal, but Ledger's was OMG. This movie better be on every Christmas List, or owned by Christmas just for Ledger's greatest performance.
What's great about it: Heath Ledger's AMAZING Performance, Exciting, thrilling, I can't wait for Dec. 9th.
What's not so great: It is just a little long

Definately Worth every penny

I'm going to go out on a limb and say this is the best Marvel movie out to date. The soon to be released Hulk was better than the original Hulk movie made in 2003, but iron man's special effects blow it out of the water. Spider-man has some good movies as well, but the third one should have been better (They should have casted Venom not as Topher Grace, but someone who actually resembled Eddie Brock from the comics and animated series). You could disregaurd everything I've said until now because I want to talk about Iron Man's suit. Marvel could not have done a better job with today's technology and special effects. When I first heard that this movie was going to come out, that was the first thing that popped into my head because that suit alone would make or break the movie, and this suit has for sure made this movie into a movie that should be in every house.
What's great about it: Great acting, exciting from beginning to end...oh and the suit.
What's not so great: None worth explaining

Just the perfect size
on August 19, 2008
Posted by: Barback
I got it just three days after ordering it. I had to get something that can hold my 300 dvds and growing collection, but also something not so wide because I live in an apartment. The lock I felt was neccesary because of where I live, but I still think that it could be broken into farely easily. It took me all of a half an hour to put it together, but I'm pretty handy. It did scratch kinda easily too, but not too bad I'll just have to buy something to touch it up. If you want to get a decent dvd cabinet than this would be a good one, but if you have the time to make one yourself out of better quality matterials than that would be probably better for you considering the cost.
What's great about it: Can hold a great amount of dvds, games, etc. and very easy assembly.
What's not so great: Kinda pricy for what you get

The mastermind behind one of television's most successful sitcoms returns to his roots in this hilarious stand-up comedy performance, taped live at Broadway's Broadhurst Theatre and presented on DVD from HBO Home Video. Presented in standard 1.33:1 full-screen and with a closed-captioned English Dolby Digital soundtrack, this performance will have viewers in stitches as legendary funnyman Jerry Seinfeld turns his critical eye on the hilarious but overlooked everyday absurdities that became the trademark of his long-running television series. With a biography and never-before-seen footage, this video is a must-have for Seinfeld fans and lovers of comedy in general.

When I bought this stand-up I was really looking forward to seeing it because I am a really big fan of his tv series. Unfortunately most of his act was also in the tv series so it wasn't as funny as hearing it the first time if you know what I mean. So if you are not a big fan of the show, but want some laughs from one of the greatest comedians around than this is a good buy.
What's great about it: Very funny especially for those who don't watch the show.
What's not so great: I have all his seasons from his sitcom and most of his act can be found in those seasons.

how do wireless speakers work ? How expensive are they

I thought the "rock" speakers advertised on tv were wireless.
No the rock speakers are not wireless unfortunately. There are two different kind of "wireless speakers." The first kind is not really wireless, but helps get rid of some of the wires and how it does this is there is a wireless transmitter and receiver offered by Rocketfish (Brand name) for either $100 or $105. You will need a receiver (yamaha, onkyo, denon, pioneer, etc.) where you will hook up a transmitter to two speaker terminals and that will send a signal to the Rocketfish receiver which will have two speaker wires going to those two speakers and the receiver portion will power those. Now there are some wireless speakers also offered through rocketfish, but there is a catch to these. You have to use a ton of batteries and it will only work for (if I remember right) 10 hours, but you get rid of the cords and if you have rechargeable batteries maybe this will be the right way to go for you. My personal opinion about wireless speakers is that it is more hassle than what its worth since there are very few options to the quality of speakers you can get and they often cut out due to phone calls, taxi/cop radios, and other frequencies can interfere with that signal. If you really want speakers in your backyard (I'm assuming since you were looking at either the insignia rock speakers or the speakercraft rock speakers that you don't plan on putting them in your living room...unless you like the primitive look jk) then you should run speaker wire to them just for ease and quality purposes. If you don't feel comfortable doing that I'm sure there is a Geek Squad Service that would do that for you.

Small speakers

I have an Insignia 19" TV/DVD combo that I would like to add speakers to, in order to enhance the sound. Don't want anything that dwarfs the tv, just something in a small size that would compliment the tv.
Buy computer speakers that have just your regular red and white audio cables. Bose has a pair for 99.99 that work very well, but it is entirely up to you.

Multi-zone DVD player hard to find

Many DVD devices are billed as being able to play disks from zones other than the US (1), but I have returned many machines shotrly after purchase. Staffers have so far not been able to identify the solution. Is it possible to try some of these DVD's in the store first? Cost has not been an issue, as most of the players are reasonable.
Best Buy doesn't have any international dvd players (meaning it can only play dvds from the U.S.) You will have to get one online somewhere else.

speakers that plug into wall

I have no available USB port to connect both cables to computer, I need the old kind with one cable that plugs into wall outlet. Do you carry these?
This is a very vague question, with no idea of what you are connecting and the fact that there are hundreds of cables it is hard to answer the question. What it sounds like is that you need an extra usb port where I would be shocked if Bestbuy didn't have some kind of adapter that would allow you to switch between usb connections.

Where can i get American Acoustics sub speaker for floor speakers

I've never heard of the brand American Acoustics, so I'm going to assume you mean an American company that produces subwoofers. There is only one that comes to mind and that is Martin Logan. They have two models the Dynamo and the Abyss. The Dynamo has more than enough kick for most home theaters, but if you want absolute raw power than I suggest you go with the Abyss.

blue tooth outputs

i was wondering if it was possible to be able to hook a bluetooth speaker up to multiple speakers????
I don't know if you mean wireless speakers, but you can buy wireless transmitters. Each transmitter is good for 2 speakers. They are made by rocketfish, which is a pretty reliable brand.

Sound Vibrations from TV

I purchased a 60" Samsung when the sound is turned up there is a vibration. I do not have external speakers and was wondering if that might solve the problem. Geek Squad set up the set and I have not changed the settings.
To be completely honest, the sound quality of speakers on tv's are as terrible as they come. You are probably looking at 40 watts of speaker power at tops. External speakers would be one way to go. You would just have to purchase some computer speakers and have it plugged into the audio output on the tv. I highly suggest you just save your money or apply for a Best Buy credit card and just buy a receiver and two additional speakers (you can always add on to your receiver to give you a surround sound instead of a stereo set up, which is two front speakers).
