The Blueair Classic 280i air purifier brings clean, energizing air to spacious bedrooms, living rooms, or any rooms up to 279 sq. ft. A built-in air quality sensor makes it easy to confirm your air is virtually free of asthma and allergy triggers and indoor air pollutants such as mold, dust, pet dander, and pollen by scanning the air quality in real-time and adjusting fan speed to your current air quality. The Classic 280i delivers unmatched performance thanks to HEPASilent technology, which combines electrostatic and mechanical filtration technologies. This combination, pioneered by Blueair, delivers a high Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) with whisper-quiet operation (32- 56 dB), using 20-80 W of energy.

Utilitarian Look and Feel But Works Well
on January 23, 2021
Posted by: The34Car
from Beavercreek, OH
This is not my first air purifier for my home but I wanted to try this brand out to see how it does. It works pretty well and has some interesting features on the app but the design is rather blah and the noise could be lower.
Especially with the big virus going around, I wanted a purifier that works well as its foremost feature. This seems to do that as far as I can tell. You can just plug it in and turn it on manually and it will start to purify your air. If you want more flexibility, you can connect it to your wi-fi and download the app and control it with your phone.
Through the app, you can learn about your room's air quality with a number of statistics. It will rate your PM1, PM2.5, PM10, total VOC, temperature and humidity into numbers and explain what those numbers mean in an easy to understand way. You can also control the fan speed, set schedules and see the filter status in the app. This is all pretty useful information, especially if you're a data nerd like me. The downside is that you don't get any of that in-depth info without using the app. Not a big deal to me though.
The look of the air purifier from an aesthetics perspective is just, meh. It won't look beautiful in your home. It resembles a basic dehumidifier or tiny old-school refrigerator. It definitely looks like they didn't put much thought into how it would look in your home. If aesthetics are important to you, there are other air purifiers out there that look better than this one.
This purifier has three fan speeds on it, which you can adjust based on your needs, or you can put it on auto and it will adjust itself as necessary. I would say that the lowest speed is just a little bit louder than whisper quiet, but not bothersome at all. The second and third speeds get pretty loud. Think like a hotel air conditioner that just kicked on. You might get used to the sound, but when you shut it off it's like "aaaaahhhhhhh!"
I gave this four stars because I want it to clean the air in my home and I think it does that. I didn't give it five stars because of its look and the loudness of the higher fan speeds. Overall I would still recommend this product though.

The Extra Work Outweighs The Benefits
on November 14, 2020
Posted by: The34Car
from Beavercreek, OH
I was excited to try out this Jetbot. I was left disappointed however. I have LVP flooring with lots of area rugs. While the Jetbot seemed to do a decent job of mopping the LVP (luxury vinyl planks), there was just too much preparation to make using this a hassle.
Before using the Jetbot, you have to clear everything off of the floor, including area rugs. It will not avoid the rugs and will go right up onto them, getting them all wet and rubbing the dirty mops all over them. It's supposed to avoid rugs but it doesn't it goes over them every chance it gets. It's like it's drawn to them!
Another down side is that it will often go over the same areas again and again, and never make it to other areas. For the amount of prep it takes to make this work, I need it to do the entire floor and it doesn't.
One more downfall is that the reservoir is small and it uses plain water instead of the floor cleaner of your choosing.
To sum it up, unless you have a small, empty room with hard floors, stay away from this Jetbot and get yourself a wet mop that you do yourself. There are some good ones out there. This isn't one of them.

Great Picture and Sound No Hub Needed
on November 3, 2020
Posted by: The34Car
from Beavercreek, OH
This security camera from Arlo works really well. It is truly wire-free and has a full HD, wide angle picture (130 degrees). It connects to your wi-fi and will record any movement it detects into the cloud. A subscription is needed for this, but you get a free trial subscription when you first set it up. You can still access live pictures without a subscription.
The camera has an integrated spotlight to light up the night when activated. It records in color both in the daytime and at night. You can communicate with 2-way audio through your phone or computer. There's also a built-in siren that you can activate if you spot trouble.
This can be used inside or outside and is completely weatherproof. It comes with a mount and some screws to permanently attach it somewhere or you can just allow it to stand freely (if someone steals it, you'll most likely get a good view of them).
This works with assistants like Alexa and Google and it works with Android and Apple. It will also send you notifications when certain activities happen in the areas that you designate (like packages delivered, animals, people, vehicles, etc.).
The battery will last a good week or so unless you have it pointed to an area where it is constantly being activated. Then it will last much less. The last thing about this unit is that it can be used without an Arlo hub, which is nice. You just need the camera and the app to make it work. All in all, it's a good security camera.

Minimal Features, Good Picture, No Speakers
on October 27, 2020
Posted by: The34Car
from Beavercreek, OH
The Dell S2421NX has a good picture and modern profile but is definitely in the budget monitor category.
Right away I want to point out that this monitor has no speakers, so if you want sound, you'll have to set up separate speakers. Most monitors have very poor sound, but this one has no sound.
The look of the monitor is clean and modern. There is a very thin bezel on the top and sides. The buttons are on the underside to keep the clean look. The screen can tilt slightly forward and a bit further backward, but you can't rotate it to be in portrait mode. There are only three connection inputs (not including the power cord): 2 HDMI and one 3.5 mm audio out. The picture is full HD, which is less than 8k and 4k, but still very sharp and impressive.
Setup is a breeze and no tools are required to put it together.
The monitor is equipped with AMD FreeSync so you can have less tearing due to frame rate changes. That is about the most exotic thing about this monitor. It is otherwise average at best. If you're looking for a relatively inexpensive, no frills monitor with average size, a good picture and no speakers, then this one fits the bill.

Feel relief aid anywhere, anytime with Compex® Ayre™ compression boots. Designed for therapists, coaches, elite and recreational athletes on-the-go, Ayre is a therapeutic product using intermittent pneumatic compression. When exercising, the body builds up lactic acid as a biproduct of muscle contraction. Ayre compression boots work to break up these small molecules and send stimulus to your nervous system. These compression boots are designed to help improve blood flow and circulation in the legs by mobilizing lactic acid, access fluids, and other toxins. Compex Ayre uses a dynamic pulsing compression up the limbs in waves for the duration of its use, which helps promote quick healing. Sit back, power up the boots, and enjoy your recovery for up to 60 minutes anywhere on a single charge.

These Are the Real Deal
on September 15, 2020
Posted by: The34Car
from Beavercreek, OH
I've been using these Compex Ayre Compression Boots for a few weeks now. I was hopeful but skeptical at first because I really wanted them to take away that post-workout leg soreness, but I know there are a lot of gimmicky products out there for stuff like this. Bottom line: these aren't a gimmick. They noticeably reduced the soreness and stiffness I would typically feel after jogging or biking and I'm so glad I gave them a try! I'm a recreational athlete and they're great for me but I can also see them being just as good or better for competitive athletes.
These are one-size-fits-all. I'm a hair under 6' 0" with more leg than torso. The length of these boots fit me pretty well, although I would like the upper part (the part above the knee) to be a little higher up. I found that the knee opening was a tiny bit low and my thighs didn't get the same relief that my feet and calves got.
The width of the calf section is extremely wide. I have skinny legs and my lower legs are swimming in these boots when I first put them on. It doesn't matter though because they still squeeze tight enough when inflated to do the job properly.
The boots are easy to get in and out of and seem to be made of very high quality materials. The lower portion is zip-up and the upper portion has a velcro closure. They should accommodate a wide variety of leg sizes, from skinny to thick.
When the boots squeeze, they feel so good! It's like having your own physical therapy session after a workout. Sometimes I wake up with stiff ankles and these make them feel so much better on those days too; so they aren't just for after workouts.
They charge quickly and I've never had the battery die before I was ready to take them off. I really like these compression boots and I think they're a solid investment to help recover faster and better from leg workouts.

Great Sound and Look, Cheap Feel
on September 6, 2020
Posted by: The34Car
from Beavercreek, OH
The Bose Frames sound great! They sound like good headphones that actually cover your ears but they don't cover your ears! Little speakers around the ears provide the crisp, clean sound that you'd expect from Bose.
If you crank these up really loud, then others will be able to hear them. If you keep it at a more modest level, nobody will even know you're listening to music unless it is an absolute quiet environment; like a library environment. That makes these good for safety if you're out on the streets so you aren't completely isolated from your surroundings.
I really like the look of these glasses. They have a classic style and provide UVA/UVB eye protection with their polarized lenses. They are a bit wide on the sides by the ears in order to house the electronics, but they don't hurt the look too much.
These are one-size-fits-all, but they actually don't fit all sizes. Because of the way the electronics are built into the sides of the frames, there is a definite cutout area for your ears. If you have a smaller sized head, you won't be able to push the frames all the way up to your face and they'll bounce around by the end of your nose. They were too big for my wife and my 10-year-old son, but they fit me just fine.
One issue I had with the Bose Frames is the feel of them. The plastic feels really cheap. Kind of like the plastic on a toddler toy. Not only do they feel cheap, but they have rough seams where the plastic pieces fit together. One such seam is on the nose rest of all places! It doesn't feel that good on the nose because of the seam. It could feel worse, but I wish they would have designed that part better.
The Frames are lightweight and weigh about the same as any other pair of plastic frames. They come with their own USB charger that pops onto the side of the frames magnetically. They came with a 60% charge and the battery life has been very good. You can also get these with your prescription in them which is a bonus.
They also have a built-in microphone so you can take calls with them, which I love. Calls sound natural but will pick up some wind sound. No big deal.
Overall, I really like these Bose Frames. I wish they spent a little more time on the seam issue and maybe upgraded the plastic, but for me, I'll definitely be wearing them.

Sounds Great For Such a Small Speaker
on June 13, 2020
Posted by: The34Car
from Beavercreek, OH
I love my new XB23 speaker. The size is perfect for toting around with me while I'm doing my yard work. The fact that it's dustproof, shockproof and waterproof is helpful since yard work is a dirty job.
It paired to my phone without issue. The fact that these speakers are small and that you can connect them to have more than one playing the same music means that they would be good to set up throughout the house for whole-house music. There's a microphone on there somewhere because you can use it as a speakerphone as well. Battery life has been great and it even came with a charge for immediate listening.
The green colored speaker is not the same as the shade of green shown on the website. The actual speaker is more of an Army green. It's quite harmonious with nature when using outdoors.
You can use the speaker without the need for any apps, but if you want equalizer control or some additional features, you need to download the Sony Music Center app.
This will fit in a camping chair or a backpack water bottle pouch, so it's really convenient to take on the go. The sound is very pleasing, with highs, mid-range and bass sounding solid, so I would highly recommend this speaker to anyone.

Great Value 4K ULED Smart TV
on April 29, 2020
Posted by: The34Car
from Beavercreek, OH
The Hisense 65H8G is awesome! This TV is such a great value. It has many bells and whistles like Quantum Dot Color, Dolby Vision HDR, Dolby Atmos sound, and Motion Rate 240. I was blown away by the picture. My favorite thing about it is the full array local dimming. I don’t like TV’s with edge lighting because they tend to have bright spots where there shouldn’t be. This television does not have that problem. It has up to 90 zones of contrast that make sure the picture is smooth and vivid with amazing color and clarity. The brightness is adequate. I think the brightness is the main thing that Hisense cut back on in order to make this TV more affordable. It is not the brightest ULED TV out there but it is plenty bright.
I was also impressed by the factory picture modes (i.e. gaming, movie, eco, vivid, sports, standard). I did not have to make any adjustments to the preset values to find the perfect look for every application. I love the look of movies on movie mode. I streamed Captain Marvel from Disney+ (one of their Ultra HD and HDR offerings) and it looked better than I’ve ever seen it at home. I watched a 4K Ultra HD Blu Ray movie from my Blu Ray player and it looked fantastic as well. Excellent contrast in dark scenes and no motion blur in fast scenes. I was also pleasantly surprised that the Hisense remote control was able to control my Blu Ray player without any setup. Gaming is bright and crisp using the preset gaming mode. I haven’t watched any live sports yet, but hopefully they will look as great as the other modes do.
65” seems to be the sweet spot for Hisense TV’s. It’s the biggest you can get before major price jumps, and for me, the size is perfect for my big family room. The Dolby Atmos sound on the TV is loud on its own, although my TV is now hooked up to my surround system so I don't use the TV sound anymore.
Hisense uses the Android TV menu, so if you’re familiar with it from another device, you don’t need to learn how to navigate a whole new system. There are plenty of apps to choose from, although I wasn’t able to find a Spectrum app for my Spectrum streaming subscription. Also, the menu is a bit sluggish from time to time, meaning things might take a second to load.
Overall this is an excellent TV and has the best picture of any TV I’ve ever owned. I’m thrilled with it and I would recommend it to others.

Best Suited For Recording/Streaming on Switch
on December 9, 2019
Posted by: The34Car
from Beavercreek, OH
The AVerMedia Live Streamer DUO Webcam Bundle is just an okay product for capturing and streaming your video game play.
Let me start by saying that you don't need a capture card if you are just streaming/recording on one pc. If you are gaming on one pc and processing on another; or you are playing on a console like XBox Playstation or Switch, that is when you'll need a capture card.
I think this is best suited for capturing Switch gameplay because it only captures a max of 1080p at 60fps. Anything with better graphics will be lost in translation.
I found setup of the Live Gamer Mini to be confusing, even though it's just an HDMI input, HDMI output and usb connection. The instructions are pretty much non-existent other than telling you to download RECentral to your PC. After that, it's off to YouTube or wherever else to figure out what to do next.
The webcam was easy plug and play and was recognized right away by OBS Studio and RECentral programs. Its picture quality and microphone are both adequate.
If you're a beginner streaming from console games or with two computers, this might be for you, just be prepared for a lot of trial and error to get things working satisfactorily.

Better For Younger More Malleable Minds and Hands
on November 4, 2019
Posted by: The34Car
from Beavercreek, OH
The Lexip Pu94 Wired Gaming Mouse has some interesting features which attempt to make your gaming or creating easier and more accurate. For me, it turns out, I just end up using it like I would a cheap, ordinary mouse. The problem for me is that I am so used to using a regular old mouse with two top buttons and a scroll wheel, that I can't train my brain to use the other features on the Pu94.
The Pu94 has a mouse tilt feature, a joystick on the left side, two left side buttons, left click, right click, scroll wheel, and center button. My mind is not malleable enough to remember to use these buttons and my hand's muscle memory doesn't want to go to them either; so they are all wasted on me.
The Pu94 is an attractive mouse and is fairly comfortable in my hand. It has adjustable LED lighting both underneath and on top of the mouse. The software that comes with ithe mouse seems to update too frequently for my liking though.
For a younger, more accepting mind, they may make all the difference, but for me, I'll stick with a more traditional mouse.

How exactly does the internet/online play work with these newer laptops? Do you have to get internet from a certain provider or is it something else?

Yes. The internet is like the road that you drive on and the laptop is like the car that drives on the road. You need to get internet from an internet service provider, usually via cable companies or phone companies. Then you connect your laptop to your internet connection and you're ready to go.

You must connect this to your computer via HDMI cable, which is provided in the box. If you need to connect with a different cable, I would look for a different monitor.

Is this a different product than the recent new Alexa? If so, one has to have both:on for the car and the other for home, correct? Thank you.
