Perfect Computer for Gaming or Video Editing

The HP OMEN Obelisk is the coolest gaming computer I’ve ever owned. It has high-end specs, including the next gen graphics card from Nvidia (RTX 2080).
One important note: you have to turn the monitor on before starting the computer or it will beep at you and not turn on correctly. As long as you turn the monitor on first, everything starts up just fine and very quickly.
The tower is not obnoxiously huge and not so small that it’s difficult to get inside and add or change components. It’s a good looking tower with a clear panel on one side to show off its guts and customizable rgb lighting that shows through the logo.
There are two open slots to add things in the back and the memory can be doubled as well. There is easy access to everything if you like to tinker with the things inside the tower.
I don’t have any of the currently available games that specifically support the new RTX 2080 GPU, but the games that I do have are able to be maxed out on graphics and look amazing! I’ve been playing Planet Coaster on full graphics and the lighting and reflections are stunning! There is no performance lag either. With my older pc running GTX 1080 GPU, I wasn’t able to completely max things out because it affected performance.
The Omen has lots of usb inputs for peripherals. I only wish it had a usb type-c in the front instead of the back. Otherwise I have no complaints with this computer. It has what I need to edit videos for YouTube and play any game I want. It is very quiet as well. I’m totally stoked over this pc!

Not My Favorite Pair of Headphones

The Sony MDR-Z7M2 headphones are a decent pair of headphones that bring a lot of comfort but maybe not the best sound.
The good: They offer Hi-Res audio, which if you have music or movies saved on hi-res file formats like FLAC or ALAC, you get to hear them without any loss from file compression.
They do a great job of cancelling outside noise, even without having active noise cancellation. These are massive cans, but also very lightweight. The will encompass even the largest of ears. They have big vents, but have very little noise bleed.
Two cables are included: a 4 foot, balanced cable with standard plug; and a 10 foot stereo cable with mini plug. The cables screw into the headphones for a secure connection.
The bad: No wireless mode. Algorithms like aptx make wireless headphones almost as good as wired, but there is no wireless option on these.
There is no case included for the headphones, although you can use the box that they came in.
It seems like the shorter cable should be the one that fits your phone headphone jack and the longer one should be the one to fit into a receiver or amp, but it is the opposite.
With the marketing of the Fibonnaci patterned grill, silver coated oxygen free cable, and 70 mm drivers, I expected a fuller sound stage. I found the sound to be somewhat flat sounding. Not completely flat, mind you, but I was expecting more. The bass seems to be a bit muted as well as the highs and vocals. What comes through the most is the mid-range, which surprised me. Music with lots of layers or with big orchestras seemed as if all the parts were recorded on one track and kind of stepped on each other with these headphones.
Overall, these are pretty good headphones with pretty good sound, but I wouldn’t say that they’re great.

Great Tool To Make Professional Sounding Videos

The Samson Go Mic Mobile Lavalier system is a great step forward for those of us trying to make professional sounding videos right from our mobile phones.
When I make my YouTube videos, I used to rely on the microphone that’s built into my phone and the sound is never optimal. It bounces back and forth from left to right channel and gets louder or quieter based upon where I am standing in relation to the phone. Now I’m able to record video the exact same way on my phone, but the sound is picked up from the Samson Go Mic instead of my phone’s mic. The Go Mic is attached to my shirt, so it goes where I go and the sound remains even and clear. It also cuts down wind noise quite a bit. Such an improvement! I’m so glad that this product is out there for people like me. The mic transmits the signal to the receiver, which clamps to my phone. The receiver also has a screw hole in it so the whole thing can attach to a tripod.
The package comes with everything you need to make it work. It has cables for digital recording from ios or Android phones, as well as an analog cable to record through your phone’s headphone jack. I wasn’t able to get the digital cable to work with my Android phone, and the instructions gloss over how this may or may not work without a third party app, but it records just fine through the headphone jack. I wish the instructions were a little more thorough. After all, this product is intended for non-professionals who could use all the info they can get. If you are able to use one of the digital recording cables (which are usb type-c and lightning), you can hook up a pair of headphones for monitoring which is great.
Everything included comes in a very nicely made, compartmentalized case which looks like it will hold up well over time.
I wish this mic had a companion app which monitored audio gain for quick adjustments. There are third party apps out there that can do this, but it would be nice if Samson had its own.
Overall I am super happy with this mic and look forward to using it often.

Pretty Good Upper-Mid-Range 2-in-1 Laptop

The Dell Inspiron 2-in-1 laptop is a pretty good mid to upper range laptop. It has a minimalistic design in silver with black screen and keys. It has a full HD touchscreen display with about ¼ inch bezels on three sides (the bottom bezel is much larger). The screen is very receptive to touch.
There is an integrated webcam, but it doesn’t feature a slider to manually close it when not in use, so you’ll need a piece of tape for that if you’re concerned about privacy.
Tablet mode is nice, but when in tablet mode the keyboard is facing downward. I don’t like that design as well as others that fold the keyboard to the inside when in tablet mode. Facing down seems much rougher on the keyboard, especially if you set it on a table instead of your lap.
The solid state drive enables fast start up and shutdown and the integrated fingerprint reader is a nice touch to quickly log into your machine.
There is support for an active pen, but one is not included so that’s an extra expense if you want one.
There is an HDMI port, USB 3.1 port, USB 3.1 Type C port, SD card reader and headphone jack on the sides. The fan is quiet and while the laptop did get warm with intense usage, it wasn’t burning hot.
Processing power has been adequate and should be able to handle everything except graphics intensive applications like gaming or autocad.
This isn’t the most exciting laptop I’ve used, but it does get the job done for most intents and purposes. I would have liked to have seen an active pen included in the box and a webcam cover, but otherwise it’s a pretty worthy 2-in-1 laptop.

The Shark ION S87 Robot Vacuum is the top-of-the-line robot vacuum from Shark. Until I tried this out, my favorite robot vacuum was the Shark ION 750; and I’ve used robot vacuums from several different top brands. But now, the S87 has dethroned the 750 as my new favorite.
First of all, it is not only a robot vacuum, but the dock also discretely houses a very powerful yet lightweight hand-held vacuum. Both work very, very well.
The robot vacuum has updated Navigation 2.0 technology to help it get around the house without getting stuck. For really tough areas, you can use the included boundary strips (like under a couch where it might get stuck). The vacuum doesn’t have mapping technology, nor does it vacuum in straight lines, so if that is important to you, you may want to try something else. I think that its randomness actually allows it to vacuum the house as a whole more effectively. It also features three levels of suction to choose from, depending on your needs. On max suction, it is three times more powerful than the 750. It has a main rolling brush in the middle of the unit, plus two spinning brushes near the sides to push debris into the dustbin. The dustbin is very large, and in my house, always ends up full. The wide opening to the dustbin ensures that pet hair won’t clog the unit and render it ineffective. The dustbin and filter are easy to remove and empty. The vacuum is much more quiet than most and cleans equally well on carpets and hard flooring. Another nice feature of this vacuum is that it can be run remotely through the Shark ION smartphone app, or through smart home devices such as Amazon Alexa and Google Home Assistant.
The handheld vacuum has incredible suction for its size and is really lightweight but it is also very loud. It has a one button empty feature for effortless dumping of your kid’s dropped cheerios into the trash after sucking them up. It comes with two attachments, one for use with picking up pet hair from upholstered surfaces; and one for picking up dust. Unfortunately though, the attachments can’t be mounted on the dock, so you’ll have to store those separately.
Despite a couple very minor flaws, I love this vacuum and it is now my go-to floor cleaner.

Premium Laptop in Performance, Look, Feel & Smell

The HP Spectre Folio is a sweet laptop 3-in-1 that looks, feels, smells and works like a premium laptop.
It is wrapped in 100% full grain leather, which gives it a great smell and feel; and makes it fingerprint free! The only places for fingerprints are on the screen and keyboard. Animal lovers probably will wish they had used synthetic leather rather than real leather however.
Unlike other 3-in-1 laptops, when in tablet mode the Spectre Folio keyboard is completely covered by the screen. This is so much nicer than when the keyboard ends up on the bottom with the keys facing downward. It is a smartly engineered design.
One thing I noticed right away is how quiet this laptop is. I have yet to hear the fan working! The Bang & Olufsen speakers do a pretty good job of projecting a clean stereo sound when watching movies too. The screen is Full HD, not 4k, but on a screen this size it really doesn’t matter. Images still look amazing.
A stylus is included and it has a home in a sleeve that can be attached to the side of the laptop. Again, a better solution than other laptops that have the stylus sleeve attaching via the usb port.
Speaking of usb ports, the Spectre has three Thunderbolt usb type c ports (one for the power cord). In case you have peripherals that haven’t adopted the usb type c format yet, one converter cord is provided in the box.

At almost 3.5 lbs., it is a little on the heavy side for its size, and compared with the Spectre from a couple years ago, it is thicker as well. Then again, the older model Spectre didn’t have a touchscreen or tablet mode like this one does.
I am really digging this laptop. The cognac brown color resembles the color and feel of a football. Gaming aside, this laptop seems to have the power to handle anything pretty easily.

Helpful IoT Gadget for Water Usage/Leak Detection

The Streamlabs Home Water Monitor is a relatively inexpensive insurance policy against flooding due to major pipe leaks as well as a long term money saver by detecting small water-wasting leaks.
By connecting to its smartphone app via wi-fi, Streamlabs will notify you on your phone if it detects water running for a certain amount of time, as determined by you and initially set to 20 minutes. You can also monitor real-time water usage and compare to the same time of the previous day, week, and month. It also shows charts of water usage on a daily, monthly, and yearly basis. All very cool stuff to help train yourself to reduce water usage.
Setup is done without the need for a professional, and is pretty easy, but there are a few things to note before buying this product. The first thing to note is that you will need to plug this into a wall electrical outlet. Mine is using a really long extension cord right now because I don’t have an outlet nearby. The second thing is that you’ll need to have good wi-fi reception where this is installed. If it’s in a basement or crawl space, make sure you get good wi-fi there before proceeding. The last thing to look for is to make sure you have enough straight water pipe space to fit the unit. You need at least five inches of straight pipe before getting to any branches to place the unit. You also need enough space around the pipe to accommodate the unit. As long as you meet all those requirements, you’re good to go. It’s just a matter of placing the unit on the pipe, securing with zip ties and following the instructions on the app.
I’ve been using this for over a week now and it’s been a real eye opener as to just how much water we use on a daily basis and what actions use the most water.
If you’re into IoT devices, are interested in saving water, or want to protect yourself from major damage from leaks, the Streamlabs Home Water Monitor is a very useful product.

This speaker is awesome! The sound is impressive without any tinkering and it is loud enough to fill the whole house. To my ears, the sound has plenty of deep bass, sharp vocals and clear highs to provide a really rich sound. The sound stays just as good at high volume.
It’s got a classic Marshall amp look that says you’re a serious rocker. The look is definitely a conversation starter.
Setting up Alexa on the speaker was simple and pairing to my phone was simple as well. I can now just tell Alexa to connect to my phone when I want to play music from my phone and listen from this speaker, so I don’t have to go into my phone’s Bluetooth settings each time I want to connect. I can also tell Alexa to play something on Pandora and the speaker will play it. So easy!
The thing I like the most, above the cool look of the speaker and above the convenience is the sound. I just love it and I have quite a few top brand Bluetooth speakers. This is my new favorite.
I will point out the one “downside” if you want to call it that: it needs to be plugged in to operate, so no rechargeable batteries in it. Not really a downside, but it decreases its portability slightly.

Remote Control for Your Phone

I really wanted to like this watch. It is a nice looking watch, which easily pairs with dressy or casual attire. Beyond that, I haven't found much to like about it.
My first complaint is that it comes with a HUGE band. I tried removing three links at first, but it was still loose to the point where the watch face was always too far over on my wrist when I tried to look at it, so I constantly had to keep shaking my wrist to get it back to the right spot. I took off a fourth link and now it feels too tight. I guess I'll put a link back on and just deal with it feeling too loose. The whole thing is a big pain though, as I had to buy the tools to remove the pins from the watch band to adjust the size. I'm not sure how it can properly gauge my heart rate with a loose fit though.
Another major issue I have is that not only does the watch battery die quickly on the watch, but it makes my phone (less than one year old) battery drain super fast as well.
I guess I don't really see the usefulness of a smartwatch that doesn't have at least 3G connectivity. This watch does not have that, and is thus relegated to being nothing more than a remote control for your phone. There is no speaker on this watch, so you can’t use it for phone calls or listening to music without your phone or headphones anyway.
You can set it up to see your messages and email and there are a few useful apps on it that don’t need your phone, like calculator and stopwatch, but this watch doesn’t bring anything to the table that you can’t do with your phone alone.
My recommendation is to just get yourself a regular watch if you like the look of this one. It’ll do pretty much the same thing.

Best Coffee/Tea Maker Ever Made

The Ninja Hot & Cold 10-Cup Coffee Maker is by far the best coffee maker I've ever owned. I replaced my old Ninja coffee maker (model CF091) with this upgrade. There was nothing wrong with my old one, this model just does more and I was excited about the upgrades so I went for it.
First of all, it is easy to use and nice to look at. It makes a delicious cup of coffee and tea as well. Whether you like hot or cold, coffee or tea, this system has you covered.
It comes with two permanent filters; one for coffee and one for tea. The filters are designed differently to accentuate the brewing process for each. The machine automatically knows which filter is in and adjusts its settings accordingly.
The display is all digital, with a built-in clock and a delay brew feature. There are six different brew sizes, from a small cup to a full carafe. There are five different brew styles to select from and they work for both coffee or tea. They are Classic, which gives a lighter taste; Rich which is bolder flavor; Over Ice which is the shorter brew time for cold drinks; Cold Brew which is a 10-minute brew for coffeehouse style cold drinks; and Specialty, which is for your lattes, espressos, etc. In addition to that, if you have the tea filter installed, you can also choose between different types of tea leaf settings which control the steeping time. You can choose between Herbal, Black, Oolong, White, or Green.
There is a removable water bin that holds a carafe full of water, so you can make several cups of coffee before having to refill it. The carafe is double walled stainless steel, so it keeps drinks hot for up to two hours while remaining cool to the touch on the outside.
The last awesome feature is the built-in frother that tucks away nicely when not in use. It quickly whips up froth for your specialty drinks and removes easily for cleaning.
Ninja makes products that have smart designs and work well, while not being too expensive. Ninja has become one of my most respected brands and they've done it again with this Hot & Cold Brewed System.

What is the maximum ram that this can be upgraded to? It shows 2 channels, is the max ram per channel 16?

What size fan is being used on the back of the computer case? Also, on top of the case, it looks like another place to mount fans, what size are those mounts?
The one in back is 3.5". I think the top mount is 4".

No it doesn't. It has a random pattern that allows it to go over areas more than once, thus making the cleaning more effective.

What does "open back " mean? Are they cooler (temp) to wear?
It means the sound comes out through the back of the speaker. Others around you will be able to hear what you are listening to. They aren't any cooler to wear.

This is a navigation product made by Garmin for your car that also has Alexa built in. The intent is for this product to stay in your car, so you would need a different Alexa product for your home.
