Pretty Awesome

Install doesn’t get any easier – just plug in USB dongle and turn on headphones - plug and play. Comes with around a 6ft long charging cable with USB-C adapter and , rather large, USB 3.0 dongle. Headphones arrived pretty much fully charged. States they will last for 29 hours – didn’t get a chance to test that as I can only fit in a couple of hours gaming every couple of days.
The sound is amazing like a 4D experience. Feels like you are right in the middle of the game surrounded by sound. I didn’t experience any sound delay to the action on the screen. Also tried streaming Netflix and it sounded pretty good but need to work more on the user settings where you can adjust volume, tone, as well as EQ settings and/or use presets for sports, gaming, entertainment, etc. There are separate volume settings for back, left, right, etc. Its like a theater sound system on your ears.
Very light and comfortable to wear and have several adjustments for comfort or look.
Can more or less create your own color show using LED lighting. I just left the default kaleidoscope scheme.
I like the fact that it has a detachable microphone since I really don’t use that much. Its nice to not have it in the way or have the added weight. Of course, it is a separate piece that could get lost.
Negatives;
My ears did get a bit hot after a couple of hours gaming.
Overall, fully recommend for those looking for great sound/functionality on a budget.

Seamless Battery Power Security
on August 19, 2020

from Scottsdale, Az
I had contemplated getting a UPS for quite some time but never did. So, I was very happy to have an opportunity try this product out. If you are looking for a reasonably priced APS/surge protestor for home or small office this is a nice option and would recommend.
Easy setup – just unbox, insert battery connector on the bottom of the unit, plug in and turn on
Angled and flat 5-foot power cord. Is somewhat compact at 5.5 inches high x 10.8 inches width x 4.1 inches deep and is a tad over 7 lbs.
5 UPS/Surge and 2 surge power outlets and 1 5V 2.1A USB connector. 2 of the UPS outlets are staggered/separated to allow pugging in larger power blocks.
Rated at 650AV and 360W and energy star certified
The power button flashes different colors/frequencies and there are audible alarms indicating unit status.
Has 3 Voltage sensitivity adjustments.
Can be mounted on the wall
3-year warranty on unit and battery (which will need to be replaced every few years and looks to cost around $45). $75,000 lifetime connected equipment protection policy and free technical support.
To test I unplugged unit simulating a power outage and it seamlessly went to battery power every time.
Test 1 – Received 20 minutes of power before battery was exhausted having my desktop (no added GPU) with multiple hard drives, modem, router and 35-inch monitor plugged in. While this certainly is enough time to save any work, it won’t let you while away the time watching content or surfing the internet until the power comes back on.
Test 2 – Received 2 hrs. and 33 minutes of power before battery was exhausted having only modem and router connected.
Negatives.
No display of battery charge left or charging percentage.
Very long (states up to 10 hours) to recharge the battery.
Overall a nice compact UPS that gives you a sense of security if your power should go out. Just be sure whatever is plugged into it is really needed to extend battery power as long as possible.

No frills vacuum – just cleans
on July 22, 2020
Posted by: mkcar1

This re-imagines the upright vacuum making it cord free. If you are looking for a straight-forward, no frills, reasonably priced cordless vacuum with very good suction and reasonable run times – this is a good choice.
Positives;
Very easy to put together. Just slide in the handle, insert battery (I needed to charge mine 1st), recline the handle, turn on and select cleaning mode and you are off!
This is part of Hoovers Onepwr system family where every product can use the same battery. Included is the larger 4.0 Ah Lithium battery and charger. Extra batteries run around $60 if on sale.
Power modes are Brush Off (longest run time), Carpet mode (more suction and brush on – least run time, I got around 20 – 25 minutes) and multi-surface (less suction brush on and got around 40 minutes).
The battery is not in the handle, as with most other cordless vacuums. This makes it feel very light weight and not nearly as tiring to use (don’t feel as if you are lifting weights). The swivel steering makes it very maneuverable as well.
Really good suction but did seem to “bounce” sometimes on carpet. I have low nap carpet which when using the carpet mode, the cleaning head was “glued: to it. I also have several rooms of medium nap which it handled easily and cleaned very well. My tile floors were no match for it either. Our little terrier doesn’t really shed much but it did pick up a few stray hairs as well as a lot of very fine dirt/particles on all surfaces. It wanted to eat my throw rugs though, so had to dial back suction.
The large clear 1-liter dirt cup just slides in/out and is easy to see while using the unit. To empty just pull-out from main unit, click on the release button and bottom “door” opens to release dirt. Pretty much touchless. You can rinse the dirt cup and the filter is also washable.
Brush is easily removed and cleaned as well.
3 – 4 hours to recharge from fully discharged battery. You can check the charge by pressing button on battery showing charge as series of led lights.
Nice 3-year warranty
Negatives
While using, battery does not show charge left, so unit just stops with no warning. But I have to state that there is no loss of power as battery loses charge.
Due to design it will not fit under some cabinets or beds.
No attachments nor anyway to use them
No lights on the power nozzle.
Overall a nice very easy to use option.

No tool like an old tool

This mixer took me back to watching my mom mixing something in a big pyrex bowl, usually around the holidays. This type of mixer worked then and this unit works great now – especially updated to being cord free. If you want a lightweight, easy to use and store mixer – this is perfect!
Comes with charger and 2 beaters.
Just charge it up, plug in the beaters and you are good to go.
There is a small led light above the speed control (can easily see while using) that indicates charging and how much charge is left. Green = 100 to 30% left, Yellow 30 to 15% and red = less then 15% charge. The light is off unless charging or using the mixer.
The 2 steel beaters (dish washer safe) looked a tad small and short to me but worked great. Their shape also helps make sure you get into “corners” of the bowl. Also they must be put in the correct opening in mixer - they are not interchangeable. Just press eject button to remove.
Has 7 speeds, easily clicked thru while using. I was a tad concerned, being cord free, that it may lack power/torque – but it worked fine on slightly softened cream cheese for pie filling, mashed potatoes (cooked and cubed), cake mix and last but not least whipped cream! The whipped cream took a while (much more time than our stand mixer) – but that is to be expected. Also did all of the listed on 1 charge and was still green. Booklet states 2 hours for a full charge.
The mixer is nicely weighted and basically sealed so cleanup is easy. Also, the end is completely flat making it easy to stand up. Size makes it easy to store.
Relatively quiet when in use and being cord free you can use wherever you want. Would be great for camping, picnics, at the grill, etc.
1-year warranty
I can’t think of a single “negative” comment or concern. I have done a lot of reviews for a lot of different products and this seldom happens.
So, dig out your pyrex bowls and make something good!

Is the Revolution at hand?

For those in those in search of the perfect slice of toast this is definitely worth a look. Overall, it does a very good job and I recommend.
It has a nice clean stainless-steel design that looked good on our counter. Its pretty light weight with about a 24-inch cord.
Using the gear icon gives you access to settings to personalize the toaster. Here you can set time/date (which seems to stay set even if unplugged), bagel setting with large option, volume of chime when toast cycle has completed and brightness of screen.
Large front color touch screen display. The selection options are: bread, bagels, pastry (Pop Tart pictured), English muffin and waffle. The degree of toast goes from one to seven (didn’t go higher than 4 – but assume 7 would pretty much result in a lump of coal). You also select fresh, frozen or reheat.
Place your item in the toaster slot – then touch the screen to start – selecting your bread type, frozen/fresh/reheat and darkness – then press start. Your item descends into the toaster automatically and is perfectly centered between the heating elements. A display comes up with picture of your bread type with a series of little dots encircling it. The dots go darker in a clock-wise motion to indicate where you are in the heating process, allowing you to gage when it will be done. At 10 seconds a timer shows as a countdown. When zero a chine is sounded and food magically emerges from the toaster.
I found using fresh (unfrozen or just out of the refrigerator) items the toaster did a very good job of toasting. Bread (especially French bread), bagels and English muffins and waffles all were heated through with a nice crunch.
1-year warranty
My main quibbles are;
Frozen items were a tad hit and miss but pretty consistently toasted around 50% more on the inner side than the outer side.
If you toast a small item it may be very difficult to get out after toasting as you cannot “force” item up as you can with manual toaster slot.
If only toasting one item both sides heat up. Given that the items are automatically lowered/centered in slot it would have been nice to heat only side being used.
Only 2 slots.
Not truly a “smart” device as does not connect but not really sure what the benefit would be if it was?
Due to cost I wonder if it would only appeal to someone really toast-focused.

Stay put and sound great
on June 14, 2020
Posted by: mkcar1
from Scottsdale, Az
It’s amazing how good and cheaper wireless earbuds have become. These latest from Skullcandy are lightweight, fit in my ear nicely, sound very good and can be used separately if you so choose. I do recommend them – just be aware they don’t fit totally in-ear, they look like the Apple Airpods.
Pros;
Nice packaging. Earbuds were packed separately from the provided recharging case. So, first order of business was to put the buds in the case to make sure they had a full charge.
Once fully charged they automatically were in pairing mode when taken out of case with the left bud flashing red and blue. They were easily paired with my wife’s Apple and my Android phones. Just be aware when paring with another device make sure all previously paired devices have blue-tooth off or are out of range – otherwise it wont go to pairing mode. The earbuds are supposed to run for about 6 hours on a charge, with the battery case having another 3 – 4 charges in it, for a total of 30 hours play. It has a “Rapid Charge” function that in 10 minutes gives 2 hours of use. I didn’t have time to test the total 6 hours but at 4 hours they were still running strong. Also once paired they have auto on when taken out of case.
Comes with 3 sizes of ear tips and 2 sizes of fins. So, I was able to get a nice comfortable fit. The buds kind of “twist” into your ear with the fin locking them in place - I had no issue with them falling out.
Blue-tooth signal worked at almost 40 feet thru 2 walls. Controlling the buds functions take a little practice as you use a series of taps/touches on each bud to control, pairing, on/off, volume, play/pause, trach forward/back, answer/end calls, activate voice assistant, clear all paired devices, pair Tile, 3 EQ modes (music, movies and podcast) and ambient mode. Comes with a large sheet explaining how all these functions work as well as a much smaller cheat sheet. I didn’t find to much difference between music or movie modes but could be what I was watching/listening to. But overall sound is very good, nice bass and nice non-tinny highs.
I didn’t use to answer call or use voice assistant.
The case itself is recharged via a USB-C cable, and the small size and boxy shape made it easy to carry in my pants pocket. The buds just drop into slots in the case so its very easy to get them seated correctly to charge.
Comes with free Tile access so you can track/find your earbuds if lost/misplaced. Just load the Tile app and it walks you thru setting up your account. Nice addition.
2-year warranty is nice.
Cons;
Recharging/carrying case lid does not “latch” so can easily come open when traveling. Since they have auto on when taken out of case, if they do fall out you may be left with less than full charge.
USB-C charging cable is short at 8 inches and does not come with its own AC block.
Overall a nice product that sounds good and stays in your ear. Definitely recommend.

Mini is as mini does
on June 10, 2020
Posted by: mkcar1
from Scottsdale, Az
When you purchase a 2.5 ft mini-fridge you don’t expect a lot of room. But even with that in mind I feel there are better options available and I don’t recommend.
If you are going to use to store a little food, a few frozen items or ice cube trays and the door provides enough storage for a few then this may work perfectly well.
Below is what I found if wanting to use strictly for beverages;
12 oz. soda/beer cans will not fit on either the first or second shelf.
I took out top shelf and tall 12 oz. bottles still would not fit – need about 3/8 inch more space. If you take out the drip pan from underneath the freezer area they do fit – but not sure what if any impact that may have on cooling, etc. and I was afraid beer might freeze, so didn’t try long term. 16.9 oz plastic bottles do fit on 2nd shelf though. My 12 oz. “stubby” craft beer bottles did fit nicely on second shelf.
The bottom area can store 10 12 oz cans. If you take out small second shelf you could fit tall bottles in bottom but then you lose space on 2nd shelf.
Positives;
Light weight and easily moved around.
Design is nicely retro – and this color does grow on you – and is unique.
Keeps items very cold - much better than the other mini-fridge I have. Seems to run very quietly too.
Plastic “locking” handle was easily attached but is for looks only – it is not functional. Which is probably a safety issue – I don’t think you can have locking refrigerator doors anymore.
Door can store - 4 12 oz. cans on top door area. 4 12 oz cans in the dispenser door area and a couple of taller waters, milk, etc. in the tall bottle storage area.
Sides and door are metal – top is plastic
1-year warranty
Negatives
No interior light!
Cannot switch door to open from other side.
Could have used just a touch better interior space design
Plastic handle
Overall, I don’t recommend as I feel there are better options in this price range.

Light weight solution for “clean” water
on May 31, 2020
Posted by: mkcar1
from Scottsdale, Az
If you are concerned about your drinking water this is a nice portable solution and recommend, with a couple of caveats.
Comes with about 2-foot-long USB charger for the UV sterilization cap (no brick to plug directly into AC outlet). The 17 oz. 304 stainless steel water bottle is nice looking and is very slim making it easy to fit in most cupholders. Also included is a cloth carrying “case” and appears all packaging is recyclable.
Once UV cap is charged you just fill the bottle, put cap on, press twice for normal 1-minute sterilization or 5 times for 2.5-minute “crazy mode sterilization. While sterilization is in progress the top glows blue until completed. It is suggested you swirl the bottle while sterilizing to make sure all the water has been treated. To check caps charge press top once and it will glow either green (charged) or orange (needing charged).
I didn’t know these types of products existed as I am not an outdoors/camping type individual. In looking at CrazyCaps website it states it can make any water safe to drink. I only tested using our tap water and water from our reverse osmosis. We happen to have a TDS EZ to test our water quality. Using tap water (have water softener) we had 400 TDS and after using UV normal sterilization water it registered 350 and definitely tasted better. Using water from our reverse osmosis we started at 15 TDS and after normal sterilization it registered 14, so not as much affect but still tasted better. To be fair this is not marketed for TDS but thought I would include.
Bottle keeps water cold for hours and hours.
UV sterilization cap can be used to clean your phone, toothbrush, etc.
Lifetime warranty and is FDA approved.
The only issues I have are;
The bottle fill opening is pretty small and can make it difficult to fill. This also makes it very difficult to clean so I don’t think I would use it for anything but water.
While it’s nice that cap can be used to clean your phone, etc., the UV light is invisible. This makes it very difficult to make sure you cover all the surface of item you are cleaning.
Over all I would recommend this anyone concerned about the quality of your drinking water.

Nice look and size, but found it noisy
on May 10, 2020
Posted by: mkcar1
from Scottsdale, Az
I like the overall look and found functionality to be very appealing and seems to do a good job of cleaning the air. Our air quality was deemed good initially and has stayed that way, but my wife and I both have allergies and it does seem to help. Product guide suggest running 24/7 for best results. The provided product literature states “The unit not only cleans the air of pollutants but also destroys them on a molecular level - using a catalyst and UV-A light. Mold, bacteria, viruses, allergens and VOC’s don’t stand a chance”. Device monitors the filter and won’t run if it needs to be changed. I could not find anything detailing the expected life of the filter but it monitors its health and will let you know when it needs changed.
But I found the unit noisy, even on its lowest setting I could hear it from across the bedroom at about 18 feet, and I am not a lite sleeper. I am getting used to it but also tried in living room with TV on and the sound still bugged me. So, we run it on high during the day when not at home and low at night. Of course, sound is subjective so I do recommend but would be interested in how others perceive the noise.
It was packed nicely in 99% recyclable material. Just followed the provided step by step instructions to setup. You do have to open the unit up to unwrap and set the filter properly. Has about a 5-foot cord that winds neatly into the base to set exact length you need and hides the rest. Also, it is light weight and has a leather(?) strap attached making it easy to haul from room to room if desired. Nice size easily fits on counter top or nightstand, etc.
Downloaded the app (took a couple of times to get it synched with phone/my network) and was ready to run. App allows you to access the device from anywhere but its functions are pretty basic. Can check filter status, select unit to auto protect or manually set 1 of 5 speeds. It also gives Particle level but only indicates good, moderate, bad and very bad – no detail on what particles there are and no way to look back thru time to check history.
There are also controls that are accessed by pressing the middle of the top of the unit, “waking” the device and allows you to cycle thru the fan speeds and active mode. A long press of 3 seconds puts unit on standby – de-activating the fan, UV-A and display lights.
I really like the play on the Molekule name.
2 year warranty
It seems air cleaners are much more prevalent now especially with the ongoing issues with the virus. I do recommend but, in my opinion, it could have been better if it gave detailed info on the particles & VOC’s and allowed you to check history of same.

This is the first product from Eufy I have used and if it represents what can be expected from its other security products, I don’t think you can go wrong. Definitely recommend but do have a couple of quibbles.
Positives;
Nicely packaged and comes with everything you need to install/setup. Was very easy to un-pack and setup following nicely detailed instructions and base also “talks” you thru it. Had no issues connecting base to internet or doorbell to base. Yes, base uses ethernet cable (included) instead of Wi-Fi but I had 2 open connections on router so no issues - but be aware. If you don’t have opening on your router - you can pick up an unmanaged 8 connection hub pretty cheap if need be.
Doorbell is thoughtfully designed and seems sturdily built – has good heft due to internal batteries. You can connect using existing doorbell or mount somewhere else using battery (supposed to last 6 months to a year per charge). I used existing wiring and it worked fine but FYI you have to use app to turn on option to use your existing chime otherwise - crickets.
Once all setup was done and all working a few hours later I encountered a weird issue. The doorbell sounded (using house chime). Went out and no one was there, nothing was recorded and the internal chime was making a “grinding” sound. So, I popped off the doorbell, checked wiring and reinserted in the wall mount. It rang fine but would not record anything. I checked all settings and eventually found option to restart base. Took a couple of minutes for reboot and has worked fine since. I have found, after 40 years of IT experience, that if you run into an issue with computer, printer, phone, etc. and can’t figure what the problem is – try restarting or turning off/on. It works most of the time.
While there is an option to purchase cloud storage ($3 monthly or $30 annually both with 30 days overwrite) – you don’t have to as the base comes with 16GB built in memory. But I believe memory is eMCC, so its hard wired into base and not upgradable, which is bummer.
Day and Night motion detection seems to be very good with very little lag starting recording – captures pretty much all the action. High def 4:3 aspect ratio 2K (2650 x 1920) videos with 160-degree field of view. I do notice a little fisheye on the left of the feed (see pics). You can setup an area for detection and its very easy to use drag lines to set. Since I have the doorbell set up 90 degrees to my front door, I don’t have many issues with false alerts, etc. But using its AI you can set motion sensitivity and whether to use human or all motions.
Having option to use battery or electric power is a nice plus. Doorbell battery can be charged from base using its USB connection and supplied cable. Cannot use USB connection to add additional storage. I charged initially using power strip built in USB connection as was easier to get to than base connection. It worked fine. Since I used existing doorbell power connection I won’t have to worry about charging. The app will tell you battery percentage of charge in case you have no power connection so it is easy to keep track. The Homebase can also serve as the doorbell’s chime - when someone rings the bell. The base and doorbell are connected using their own wireless network using a 256-bit encrypted connection.
You can also set whether there is a water mark showing date/time on your recordings.
App itself is one of the better ones I have used. It has extensive settings for both base and doorbell. I found it easy to navigate and also has built in access for help. There is an explore option bottom right on main screen and it details Eufys other product offerings. So, while product info is there it is not pushed at you unless you look for it.
I did connect to my Google Home and was able to have google stream live feed to my TV using Chromecast.
You can use the base with other Eufy cameras – but doing so may eat up the 16GB of provided storage.
1 year warranty.
Negatives;
Can’t add/upgrade memory on base. It would be pretty much perfect if you could upgrade.
If I manually record or take a picture while using app on my phone it saves it to my internal storage creating an EufyPicDir folder. I have 2 issues with this -1 – why is it storing the data on my phone at all? Remotely I have access to any stored event on the base and can watch live – so why isn’t it storing this there? 2 – If it has to store it on my phone why is it using my internal storage and not my 256GB micro-sd card? Hopefully just a firmware update or could be operator error but I looked and looked and could not find anything in either base or doorbell settings. I suspect it is storing on phone to avoid using up data plan but since I have unlimited it would be nice to have option to use base.
I do have a concern about the batteries “life” - as where live I have the doorbell installed it will get the afternoon sun and we have already had days over 100 degrees. I guess I will find out!
There is no computer application to work with Windows, etc. So you have to use android or apple to access.
Overall, very nice and recommend.

Protect yourself in the event of an accident with this ESCORT dash cam. The built-in collision detection system stores important footage in the event of a crash, and Wi-Fi connectivity lets you instantly share data with your insurance company. This ESCORT dash cam uses super-capacitor technology to keep recording, even in extreme temperatures.

the BestBuy site recommeds buying 128gb card, however the Escort website says: Q: What is the largest size microSD card I can use with the Escort M1? A: The Escort M1 supports up to 32GB microSD cards. WICH SIZE IS THE CAM MEM. LIMITED TO?

I swapped out the 16GB with a 256GB micr-sd and it formatted fine (fat32) and has been recording fine. I have not recorded enough to actually confirm it will use all 256GB, but it accepted it.
