The Wyze Cam v3 is the 3rd generation of Wyze’s flagship camera, the Wyze Cam v2. Like its predecessor, the Wyze Cam v3 lets you see and record 1080p video right from the Wyze mobile app. New to the Wyze Cam v3 is its water-resistant design allowing for outdoor installation with an IP65 rating. The Wyze Cam v3 also takes advantage of an all-new Starlight Sensor which allows for extreme low-light performance and shows great detail in the dark. With the Wyze Cam v3's color night vision, night time video recording appears as if it’s day time.

Discrete, high quality cameras
on September 21, 2022
Posted by: LouRevue
I have quite a few indoor/outdoor cameras in my place and these seem to be up there in terms of quality and build. Like some people, I have quite a few smart home items from different brands so that causes me to have multiple home apps on my phone. I have a Wyze door lock so these cameras seem like a good fit and potential replacement for some of my older cameras.
Design wise, there pretty small. It's about a 1 1/2 wide cube so no weird or odd shaped cameras like other manufacturers have. Lightweight and comes with all you need to get setup. Included with the package is the wall charger, mounting screws and USB cable. You can set these up pretty much anywhere and still have them somewhat discrete as they're not too big or bulky sized. These are rated for outdoor use however I am currently using them inside.
Setup was fairly quick with the Wyze app. Took about 5 minutes or so to pair up and then another 4-5 minutes to update the firmware on the cameras. Video is pretty clear and the night vision is a great touch too. For outdoor use, the color night vision should be really helpful in the event something/someone approaches the camera. There is a free 2 week trial of Wyze's camera service. However, if you don't feel like adding another subscription, there is a micro Sd slot where you can save videos locally.
Pretty snazzy little cameras. I'm still deciding on where these two will get setup in my place. Only "negative" I can think of is that the cable is a bit too short for my needs. I'll probably have to get a longer, right angle USB cable for this.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Comfortable, easy to use mouse
on September 20, 2022
Posted by: LouRevue
This is a great little mouse for those with wrist issues or those just wanting something different.
I've used a couple different vertical mice before and got to liking them. If you're accustomed to using the standard mouse, these will take a little bit getting used to. However, once you do, these are really comfortable to use and do help out with any wrist issues you may have.
The mouse feels small despite its how it looks. If you have larger hands, this might take a little more getting used to. I have large sized hands so this one is a bit small for me however I can still use it pretty well. There are your standard forward/back thumb buttons as well as standard mouse buttons. Connection is via bluetooth so it will work with PC/MAC without issues. For my work Mac, I was able to pair this mouse within seconds which was really nice. There is no dongle included so Bluetooth is the connection method.
What's nice is that this mouse can connect to 3 different devices, i.e. PC, desktop, iPad, etc., and you can switch between them all with this single mouse. As far as use, I'd recommend using a mouse pad with this or something with a smooth surface. I have a folding desk I'm using as my work-from-home desk and it's not optimal both from feel and functionality.
This is battery operated and not rechargeable so that may be a pro/con for some people. Personally, I like the battery operated models for my work laptops. Battery is supposed to last a year or so on normal use. Having owned several other Logitech mice, I think this is pretty accurate.
Overall, really comfortable mouse that's quite ergonomic and easy to use/pair. As previously mentioned, this may take some time getting used to since the ergonomics are a bit different but, once you do, I think it'll be a much more comfortable mouse to use than your typical ones.

A bit pricey but great vacuum for your home
on September 8, 2022
Posted by: LouRevue
This is more of a vacuum station than just a regular old vacuum. It's a bit pricey but it's still a great vacuum for your home.
This is your typical stick vac with a auto-emptying hub. It's quite nice in that you can empty the vacuum manually however, the base station had a feature where you can auto-empty it whenever you dock the vacuum. The base station itself looks good and looks refined. It's not just some gaudy tower that you shove in a corner and have it looking like an eye sore. With the different color options, you could color coordinate it with your decor if you wanted to so that it's stands out less. the footprint of the base station is pretty small so you can store it anywhere really without it getting in the way.
Included with the vacuum are your usual attachments like a crevice tool as well as a floor scrubber which is nice. It doesn't vacuum up the liquid so it's really just a scrubber. There is a separate head attachment for the scrubber as well as some extra velcro pads to use on the scrubbing head. The attachments store inside the base station except the scrubbing head which attaches to the side. This also comes with an extra bag and filter for the vacuum.
Another nice feature is the extra battery. You store/charge the battery in the top of the unit so if you need to vacuum the whole place, you won't have to worry about running out of power midway through. This works ok for cleaning out your automobile too since it's portable however it's a tab bulky to get into some corners.
Last feature is the compressor. With practically all these bagless vacuums, the center filter eventually gets clogged with debris so you need to disassemble the unit and clean that out properly to ensure proper suction. There is a lever on the bin that moves up and down on the compressor which allows you to scrape off a good chunk of debris on the interior filter without needing to disassemble it which I found to be quite beneficial. You'll still need to disassemble the unit for proper maintenance however, with this cleaner, you can do it far less.
Only real knock to the is the price tag. It is expensive for a vacuum and you could easily find a stick vac or even a larger corded vacuum for much cheaper. That said, this is more of a lifestyle item where you can have a great functioning vacuum and have it look good in your home.

Great fit/comfort and top notch headset.
on September 1, 2022
Posted by: LouRevue
The Logitech G735 headset is a really nice combination of comfort, style and performance. I was really impressed with this headset as a whole and it’s found a nice place as my gaming headset for my gaming laptop.
I’ve used Logitech headsets before however I never really liked them either by their performance or their appearance. Most of them look like your standard gaming headset that you can get for cheap somewhere. Nothing really wowed me about them. However, after trying these out, I’m thinking they might have something here.
As far as appearance, these look pretty slick. The all white look is really complimented by the RGB. The RGB isn’t some single blinking light but it’s a ring that goes around each earcup. It’s programmable with your typical settings like breathing/pulse/etc. It’s not gaudy or too flashy either as it’s just a very nice aesthetic touch to the headset.
For comfort, I was REALLY impressed with these. I’ve been using A40’s so they’re a tad on the bulky side and you can just feel them on your head after a long gaming session. These are really lightweight. I played Destiny 2 for about 4-5 hours and never had any discomfort with these headsets on. The earpads are super comfy. They’re very squishy and soft to the touch. Really a great feeling headset. I was a little concerned when the marketing material stated this headset was good for people with smaller sized heads. I’m on the opposite spectrum as I’ve got a big noggin. I wear 7 ½ fitted hats for reference However, I found this headset fit great. It’ didn’t pinch at the top like a lot of other ones do and there wasn’t that clamping feeling on the sides of my head ever after wearing this for long periods of time. All in all, probably one of the best fitting/feeling headsets I’ve used.
Performance wise, equally impressive. There are some out of the box EQ settings available for lots of todays popular games so you can use those or adjust them to your liking. I used the Destiny setting obviously and highs came through very crisp and bright as did the mids. The bass was surprisingly good however it wasn’t that RPG going off near your head type of thump. It was more of a crisp thud if that makes sense. Not very boomy bass notes however I kind of wished it was. As far as the bass response, while very good and satisfactory, I wished it had that extra little oomph when hitting those deep notes. That’s probably my only gripe about this headset but it’s pretty minor considering all the benefits of this headset.
Only other complaint I can think of is the mic. It’s not bendy at all so it just kind of sits there. You can move it however it won’t stay put and will just revert back to its original shape. I haven’t run into any issues so far in terms of mic quality however, don’t eat with this headset on….just don’t.
So overall, a superb gaming headset. Great fit/comfort and great performance too. Kind of wished they included a carrying case or pouch along with this headset but oh well.

Great, all around vacuum for any floor type.
on August 26, 2022

I have a somewhat older, larger vacuum that’s starting to show its age. It’s quite beefy both in terms of size/weight however it did a really nice job vacuuming carpets in my place. I always got those nice vacuum patterns in the carpet after a good clean. But it’s old and needed to be replaced. My place has hardwood, tile and carpet so I needed something that would handle all three floor types. Currently I had the big vacuum for carpets and a stick vacuum for the hardwood/tile. Worked well but it would be better if I had one for all three floor types.
This Shark vacuum seemed to check off all the boxes in terms of my needs. With the included attachments I can clean any floor type as well stairs and even those pesky cobwebs in the ceiling corners. Pretty versatile vacuum that should fit just about any need.
Their website states it’s the strongest suction of their line up or something to that affect. As with any new vacuum, I first cleaned a room with my old vacuum and then cleaned it with the newer one. I was surprised that it picked up quite a bit and a lot of it was smaller dust particles my other vacuum missed. Had about a 2-inch ball of dust in the bin after cleaning my room. I was pleased with this and proceeded to clean the other carpeted room as well as the hardwood floor in my living room. Eventually a sizeable dust bunny was living in the bin so I could clearly see it’s working as expected. This vacuum has a scent neutralizer in it as well. Basically, it’s an air freshener that you insert into the vacuum head. Smells nice however, after a while, it started to smell like burnt air freshener. Not sure if I like it all that much or not but, in some way/shape/form, it does help with any odors.
I don’t have a pet to see how well it does at picking up pet hair but, after running it through my place, there was a pretty good-sized chunk of dust in the bin. I imagine it should have no issues picking up pet hair. The bin detaches from the base so you can tote it around for cleaning stairs or in smaller places. I like this feature and the hose extends a good enough that I haven’t run into any areas where it can’t reach.
I’ve used this vacuum for a few days now and, really, haven’t had any issues with it in terms of functionality or uses. It provides ample suction to clean pretty thoroughly, has your typical attachments and is versatile enough where you can clean just about anywhere in your place. I have since ditched my older vacuum so I’m going with this one for the foreseeable future. Great vacuum and very versatile.

Another quality HP printer
on August 22, 2022
Posted by: LouRevue
With the recent change in ink/cartridges, i was looking forward to trying some of these newer ones out and see if they'd be more cost effective than their predecessors. This is your "normal" HP Laserjet however this one comes with a toner tank instead of the normal toner cartridge. Instead of replacing toner cartridges like before, this one you simply refill with actual toner into the tank located inside the printer. Now HP is notorious for having some of the most expensive toner cartridges on the market. So, depending on your printing needs, it's not always the most economical decision to get a HP Laserjet seeing as how expensive their toner cartridges get. This one, hopefully, will address the monetary setbacks of having a HP Laserjet.
This is pretty much your standard size/weight/print quality Laserjet from HP. It has the normal wifi, app enabled, printer, scan, etc., as far as bells and whistles. Not sure if it's just me but I always seem to have issues initially setting up my HP printers. This one took about half and hour since it kept getting stuck on the initial setup. Eventually I got it setup and, so far, it's been great. The print quality is pretty standard right out of the box. Good quality for your black/white printing needs and print speed is also pretty good. I don't normally print a whole lot but I do every once in awhile. Having a Laserjet just makes those printing sessions a little bit quicker than your normal inkjet printer.
What I really liked wasn't even printer related. HP came out with their HP+ awhile back and it was standard that you had to buy into it in order to even print. Initially they had a .99/month plan but then upped it to $4/month which was ridiculous for me. With this printer, it was optional to sign up for HP+ so that made it all the better for me.
Overall, good quality printer that's fast and doesn't take up too much space. Really curious to see how long the initial toner lasts as well as how good the refills are for these.

Super fun for any age
on August 5, 2022
Posted by: LouRevue
This is my first electric scooter and I’m really happy with this one. Size wise, it’s good for me. I’m 6’3, 200pds and this one suits me just fine. It’s good enough size for me and I have no issues riding this scooter. The ride is pretty good and smooth. There’s three different speed modes on this thing so you can limit how fast the scooter can go which is nice.
Assembly was super easy. All you need to do is screw in 4 bolts to secure the handle bars. The lights on the scooter are ok. You get to choose from red, blue, green and pink. I wish there was a way to cycle the different colors easier as you have to push the power button to cycle the colors. The LED headlight comes on automatically whenever you turn on the board lights. Kinda wished there was some way to turn the headlight on by itself.
There’s no security feature for this scooter so you can’t lock it or disable the scooter if it’s stolen. Overall though, great little scooter which will be sure to provide hours of fun for everyone.

Great, all around printer

Really liking Canon printers these days. With this small(ish) form factor and great features, can't go wrong with with these.
I've used a few Canon printers and really liked the simplicity and reliability of them. I used to be a HP fan however their durability has been questionable in the past few years and the introduction of their HP+ service is a joke. Canon has always been a reliable printer for me and this one is no different.
Out of the box, it's super easy to setup/install. Comes with some starter ink cartridges and power cable which is all you need to get setup. After setup, thanks to its small form factor. it fits perfectly on my little printer stand. As with other Canon printers, the quality is very nice. I don't do a whole lot of picture printing but the couple test pictures I printed out were good quality. I usually print for business/personal use so I'm usually limited to just black and white printing. Good to know though this is capable of printing that random picture if I need it to. Copier and scanning work equally as good. Really haven't had any issues so far with this printer, or with any Canon printer really. Great little all-around printer to have for small office/home use.

Smooth gliding mouse. Great companion for X17
on July 5, 2022
Posted by: LouRevue
I've tried quite a few different mice for gaming and this one is probably the best one I've used thus far. I have a X17 R1 laptop so it was nice to have a companion accessory for it with this mouse. The mouse is a bit bigger than your typical mouse so that can be good/bad depending on your preferences. I have large sized hands and this one feels just fine to me. There are 8 programmable buttons on this mouse so plenty of room for customization for those. The mouse glides really nicely on both mousepads and on wood. Not sure about glass as I haven't tried that out yet. There is some RGB on this mouse and that's just the logo. Kind of wished there some more RGB to this mouse but I guess that's the aesthetic they were going for here. The cool thing about this mouse is the quick disconnect charging adapter that comes with this mouse. It charges normally through USB-C connection however you can attach an adapter that will allow you to quickly attach/disconnect the charging cable to it. Works fine as a wired mouse (when charging) as well as when used wirelessly. The size of the mouse is a bit different than my other ones so it'll take a bit to get used to it. Other then that, I can't really find any cons with this mouse.

Decent headset but got a rash after 2 days use
on June 30, 2022
Posted by: LouRevue
Initially, I was pretty excited to use this headset. Coming from an Astro A40, this Arctis Nova Pro seemed to be on par with the A40's and, maybe, I might have to switch up headphones when gaming. However, after using these headphones for a couple days, I got a nasty rash on both ears. So, pretty good headset but I can't even use them without getting a rash.
As far as performance, these offer a really great sound to them. The big selling point here is the software which you can utilize a bunch of game specific presets which I thought was pretty cool. I am playing Destiny 2 so i figured I try those presets out. At first, it didn't even sound that great when the game booted up. However, once it came time for action, the sound really kicked in. The highs/mids were spot on and the bass, while not as thumpy as I would've liked, did kick in and provide some good low end sound. The control knob is quite useful as well. Aside from changing volume, you can use it to update settings on the headset which is helpful. Overall, a very nice headset that offers great range of sound.
My biggest issue with these was that, after using them for a couple days, I developed a major rash on both ears. It got to the point where both ears were swollen and I had a red ring rash on both sides of my head. I've used numerous other brand headsets like Astro, TurtleBeach, Logitech, etc., and I NEVER had this problem with any of those headsets. It's been about a week now and the rash has subsided but, man, I never expected this to happen from wearing a headset. Really a bummer since I wanted to give this headset a little more playtime. Now, though, I can't as I don't want to risk getting another rash from these. I'm not sure if there was something coating the earpads or if there was some chemical used in the tanning process for the earpads or what, but I could never figure out what the issue was with this headset. I contacted SteelSeries support however I got NO response from them on this issue. YMMV may vary with these, and I hope it does, but for me, this was a huge pain (literally) when using this headset.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Excellent laptop for everyday use
By LouRevue from Washington, DC
Having had the chance to use this laptop, I must say it’s quite an impressive model for almostn any use. With an abundance of features housed in a sleek, stylish body, it’s a solid laptop for anyone in the market for a new/replacement laptop.
Using a 7th gen i5 dual core processor, the laptop functions on par with just about any laptop in its price range. With 8GB of RAM (12GB max) and a 1TB hard drive, it offers plenty of speed and room for all your files and enough power/speed to perform almost any task.
As far as the aesthetics go, this is an impressive looking laptop with clean lines, brushed aluminum cover and beveled edges. It’s a very nice looking laptop no doubt and the design, overall, is quite appealing. It comes with a full size keyboard as well as backlit keys which is a nice touch. Only gripe with the keyboard are the arrow buttons as the Up/Down buttons are smaller due to keyboard layout. The power button is on the right side of the laptop which is a bit unique as well as a dedicated volume button. There are 2 USB 3.0 ports as well as 1 USB 2.0 port, HDMI, SD Card and USB-C port. There is no CD drive for anyone wondering. The laptop (closed) is only about ¾ inch tall however it’s a bit wider than most due to the full size keyboard.
Power/performance. Using a dual-core processor I was under the impression this would be relatively slow and have choppy performance when opening multiple programs. Being this is the latest gen processor from Intel, this is not the case. Opening 2-3 programs at once was done with relative ease and switching between them was pretty flawless. The 8GB RAM comes in quite handy here and even with a 5400 RPM HDD, this laptop was able to perform tasks with very good speed. Battery life is pretty good. Using it “normally” and leaving it on for about 5-6 hours, there was about 50% battery left. Also, one very noteworthy benefit to this laptop, it doesn’t get that hot when left on for long periods of time which is VERY nice.
The display is probably the most impressive feature on here. A full 1080p display is quite vibrant and displays bright and dark colors extremely well. Those wanting to watch Netflix/Hulu will have no issues with the display. In addition to visuals, the sound from this laptop is equally impressive. For watching movies or just playing music, the speakers on this laptop deliver quite nicely without too much reverberation or distorted sound.
One of my initial thoughts of this being a 2-in-1 was that the tablet was an afterthought/gimmick. Having used previous 2-in-1 laptops, I was expecting the tablet functionality to be quite lackluster. Again, this was not the case. In this unit, you have, both, a well built laptop as well as tablet on-the-go device. Once in tablet mode, the screen orients itself to that of a normal tablet using Windows Tiles. Touch sensitivity is surprisingly smooth and using paint programs worked well without any lag or drops in sensitivity. Using the tablet form works really well when you want to sit back and watch videos or movies. Very nice.
A couple concerns with this laptop were;
The hard drive. While it’s a large 1TB drive, I would’ve expected something, at least, in the 7200 RPM range. Being fast enough for normal business related tasks, anyone wanting to use this laptop for video editing or other processor intensive jobs might find it to be a bit slow. This can easily be remedied by replacing the HD for a faster spindle drive or a SSD. However it would’ve been nice to have a tad faster hard drive here.
The keyboard, for me, took a bit getting used to since I have previously used standard laptop keyboards without the number pad. This is a personal preference so nothing against the design. Just noting that those of you used to that type of laptop keyboard, there will be a bit of learning curve involved however I think the addition of the number pad is great thing and should be standard on all laptops.
While the brushed aluminum case is aesthetically appealing, I’m a little concerned about it getting scratched/dinged from normal use or if when you’re changing it to be used as a tablet. This is the case with some laptops that use this metal casing so just something to be aware of.
Overall, this is an impressive laptop, reasonably priced with enough up-to-date technology that will last you for several years to come. Being that it’s a 2-in-1, it’s an added bonus which allows you to use this device in ways you should be able to do and with relative ease. There is some bloatware included (this should be no surprise) so make sure to uninstall/delete the stuff you don’t need. Aside from a somewhat slow hard drive, the other features on this laptop more than make up for it. Very nice buy for a new work laptop or student.

Bloatware?
January 17, 2017
It took a bit of time to setup my laptop as well. Have you tried uninstalling the bloatware on this laptop? I did and I don't have any issues with boot speed or anything else on my laptop.

Can an owner of the original non active 65t comment on the fit and stability difference with the active version? Curious if that and the extra IP rating is worth a look, or negligible.

I own both the active and regular 65T's and I don't see any noticeable difference between them. Aside from the IP rating, there's really not much difference. Both fit exactly the same and fit pretty snugly in the ear.

Brighten your day and night with this Philips Being Hue ceiling light. The dimming function lets you set an ambience for different moods, and it works with the Philips Hue dimmer switch and mobile app for versatile control. The ZigBee technology of this 32W Philips Being Hue ceiling lamp provides smooth, efficient interoperability with multiple Hue lighting units.

Can this light be controlled by a existing wired wall switch? I plan to replace the light that is already there with this one, but I would prefer to use the wired switch.

Yes you can...that's what I did. One thing to note is that the light won't come on immediately like your current light fixture does. There's a second or two delay after you flip the switch. I'm planning on replacing the switch with a dimmer switch so maybe that will correct the delay.

What is the return policy if I dont like the phone?

Depends on the carrier. I know AT&T has a 14 day return policy. Ask your carrier rep to see how long their return period is.

can i use the samsung note 2 in africa right after buying.

Only if you have the international unlocked version (the N7100 model) All other models will be tied to a carrier. You can still use those phones in Africa however you'll get hammered with roaming charges.

Does Samsung upgrade its android smartphone OS as soon as a new one is released? (4.1 Jelly Bean to the soon to be released 5.0 Key Lime Pie).

No. Samsung has its own UI built in (TouchWiz) so whenever a new OS comes out, Samsung won't release the update until they've adjusted their TouchWiz to work with the new OS. Judging from previous releases, new updates are generally released 4-6 months after a new OS has been released.
