Maintain a comfortable home environment with this Kyvol HD3 humidifier, which humidifies your home and soothes dry skin and reduces coughing, congestion and other symptoms by keeping proper air humidity at around 45% to 60%. The ultra-quiet ultrasonic feature ensures better sleep quality and 75 hours super long-lasting runtime to help indoor plants grow healthier, especially during dry winter season.

Simple , well built and high quality.

The Kyvol - HD3 is good basic humidifier that has some features that you do not always find in an inexpensive humidifier. In review :
Set up –
It is not really worth going into any details, it is literally taking the unit out of the box and filling it with water. I was up and running in 2 minutes.
Run time –
Kyrvol states that the HD3 can run up to 75 hours but the real-world application is more like 12 to 14 hours are full power. Even at its lowest setting, I could not get more than 48 hours of operation. If you look at the manufacture’s website, Kyrvol states the run time is 13 to 75 hours.
Build quality, control and features –
The HD3 is well made and comparable to competing humidifiers that are more expensive. There were no issues and the fit and finish were excellent. There is a large washable air filter that you generally do not find on competing units, it will definitely help keep the unit clean. Kyrol includes a “detachable ceramic odor filter balls” that goes in the water canister. It is supposed to “eliminate peculiar smell and micro materials in the water, providing healthy cool mist.” While I cannot attest to eliminating odors in the few days I have been using the HD3, it may help cut down on hard water residue.
The humidity control is a very simple turning knob. No pressure sensitive buttons to break, just a straight forward , minimalistic control – excellent.
Performance –
Kyvol states that the HD3 can cover up to 430 Sq ft. I do not really consider that to be a realistic estimate of what size room it can cover considering the throw/mist height of about 2 to 3 feet and the capacity of the unit. There are a lot of factors that could affect what area a humidifier. To test the capability, I compared the humidity in a room with a sensor that was 18 feet away. The total area in that room is about 400 sq ft. After a run time of 12 hours, the humidity rose from 22% to 33% but never went higher. I then put the HD3 in my bedroom ( 16 X 14) for the same period of time and it raised the humidity from 22% to 42% in the same run time. As stated there are a lot of factors and variables that can affect this but it was a noticeable difference. I think if you keep the Kyrvol HD3 in a room that is under 250 sq ft, you will be very happy.
Sound –
The HD3 is very quiet and is comparable to most units on the market. You really cannot hear it running unless you are close by.
In conclusion, I like the Kyvol - HD3 humidifier. It checks all the important boxes and does an excellent job. Recommend - 4 stars.
I would recommend this to a friend!

IOGEAR nails it

The IOGEAR - Mini Wireless 4K Screen Sharing adapter is a simple, attractively priced device that can connect to devices across the platform spectrum. In review:
Setup -
Very straightforward. Plug it into a HDMI port and follow the onscreen instructions. It does require an USB connection to provide power. If you do not have one on the display, you will need to connect it to power supply (not included.) The downside of this adapter is that it requires you to have an active internet connection rather a direct connection to the adapter. I’m not quite sure why it requires an active internet connection but it did work flawlessly and I could connect from multiple devices right away.
Performance –
IOGEAR - Mini Wireless 4K adapter did exactly as advertised, 4k streaming across Android, Windows 10 and IOS. There was no meaningful latency on video streams, even at 4K. However, there is some if you look for it. For example, if you are typing into a word document, there is a few millisecond delay. It is barely noticeable. When you have something more bandwidth intensive ( such as streaming 4k YouTube video) it is more pronounced (albeit slightly.) I realize no one is likely to be typing and streaming content at the same time but I wanted to test the limits and see if I could generate latency. Interestingly, it did not matter if I had one or two videos streaming. What did matter is I if I had a lot of tabs open in Google and had YouTube streaming. My system is more than powerful enough so there is something more going on. Keep in mind this is not a real-world application and I am very pleased with it’s performance.
In conclusion, I really cannot find anything not to like nor were there any glaring flaws. Overall, it met or exceeded the claimed performance. Even the 30 foot in room range seemed to be understated ( I able to stream 20 feet away in another room that was definitely not line of site to the adapter. ) The IOGEAR - Mini Wireless 4K Screen Sharing adapter is a top-notch device at a very affordable price.
5 stars. Nice job IOGEAR.

Going electric might feel like a big step, but with this brush you’re in safe hands. Its slim ergonomic design and familiar-shaped head gives you everything you need, and nothing you don't. Sonicare technology gently pulses water between your teeth, for a difference you can feel. With two intensity settings, you can also choose a more gentle clean.

Good but prefer a rotating brush head
on January 11, 2022

from Farmingdale, NY
I have had several electric toothbrushes over the years and always have had mixed results. The Philips Sonicare 2100 Power Toothbrush is no different – mixed results. The first thing you will notice (as with all the Phillips Sonicare toothbrushes) is that it built very well. Fit and finish are top notch and the toothbrush is well balanced. For such relatively low initial cost, Phillips so confident in the quality that they give you a 2-year warranty. Battery life is most probably unbelievable. I’ve only had the toothbrush for 3 days, but I own its predecessor and it was last weeks on end. Oddly enough, I had not used the older version in over 2 years, and it still held a charge when I used to compare it to the 2100. Everything sounds good so far but let’s look at the mixed results part. There is nothing inherently wrong with design, but I find the vibrating only head a bit to much to bear. I also find that if I compared the vibrating head to a competitor’s rotating head (which I currently use,) I find the rotating head does a more thorough job at cleaning. It’s not that the Philips Sonicare 2100 Power Toothbrush does not do a good job, I just find the competitor does a better job. Keep in mind that I do not have anything empirical to back that up, just a feeling that the rotating head design on the competition does a better job in the same time.

With that in mind, I am in a tough position for a review. The product is built well and some people may prefer the vibrating head design of Philips Sonicare 2100. However, if I had to recommend an electric toothbrush; I’d pick the competitions rotating head.

Why is this needed?
on December 28, 2021

from Farmingdale, NY
I tried to like this product, but I just cannot. The first question everyone should ask is do you really need a bottle to tell them when to drink? Some how I mastered the ability to drink water all by myself when I was a child. Putting that aside, I was hoping for so much more in the smart functions and there really is not much. Noerden could have won me over with the wow gadget factor. Let’s look at the pros and cons:
Pros –
Top notch quality of materials. Nicely made bottle.
UV cleaning (although I question its effectiveness at such a low wattage, but I have no way of telling.)
Does not sweat.
Does keep fluid warm or cold for a while, cap will tell you if it is hot or cold.
Long battery life.
CONS
Bottle has no connectivity options.
Since the app does not connect to the bottle, what does it really do except it requires you to enter info.
Google has not verified the app and states that you should not use the app until the developer does so.
No water intake tracking
The magnetic charging piece is proprietary instead of a direct micro-USB connection.
Heavy.
Expensive for what you get.
No true temp reading.
You have to unscrew it to drink.
I used the bottle for several days trying to find some benefit and I really cannot find much to justify buying this. It does keep fluids warm or cold, but I can buy a comparable thermos for 1/3 the cost. This smart bottle is like one of those products you see on television that exaggerates a “problem” and the product will make it all go away. Think of the ear wax removal tool with camera, that is what this bottle reminds me of. The bottom line is the Noerden LIZ smart bottle is poorly executed with limited functionality. It is unfathomable that a company makes a “smart” product that has no connectivity options and an app that Google outright tells you not to use (see picture.) I am sure Noerden will resolve the app not being verified shortly but it is unsettling that Google warns you not to give the app access to Google fit because the app is not verified and would be privy to sensitive info.
Sorry Noerden, you have a nicely made product, but it falls way short in key areas. Add some connectivity, more app functionality, get the app verified and make it easier to drink from. People do not want to unscrew a top while they are exercising.
Barely 2 stars , simply because it is a well made bottle. Hard pass.

Is this a good microphone? It Shurely is........
on December 21, 2021
Posted by: TechnicallyCorrect
from Farmingdale, NY
This is my first use of an XLR microphone, so a portion of this review is a cautionary tale of newbie. Frankly, I had no idea what a XLR connector was and was caught off guard that there was no way to directly connect to my computer. I figured it was a simple fix of getting a XLR to USB cable/converter. That is where I ran into problems. I picked up a cheap converter from Amazon and the audio was not good. There was a noticeable hum, so I picked up a better converter and everything worked fine. Lesson learned, it is usually not the microphone and sometimes you get what you pay for with cables. Shure does make a XLR to USB converter, but it is expensive compared to some of the competition and you mind as well get the Shure MV7 USB version. In review –
Build quality –
Very solid, meets or exceeds a comparable Blue Yeti microphone I have. The MV7X has that classic look of a professional microphone and feels every bit like one.
Sound –
This is where technology has made quality sound ubiquitous at this price level. I have tested several microphones at this price point and they all sounded great – until ambient sound conditions changed. That is where Shure MV7X really started to shine. It hardly picked up any background sound. Frankly, it was amazing how well it would pick up all the tones of my voice with a TV on in background. I would not call it noise cancelling, more like homing in or isolating speech. I did notice that I had to be relatively close for it work well but that is expected for the intent of this microphone. It really is impressive.
What is in the box –
Well, just the microphone. You will need a stand or some type of mount. I assume most people who are looking for a microphone like this will have their own mount set up in mind. However, there are competitors at this price point that include a stand with the microphone.
Warranty –
2 years limited. Comparable to the competition.
In conclusion, the Shure MV7X is a very good microphone. It captures the rich sounds of voices and keeps down the background sound. It is built well, retails for a relatively low price but is no frills in what it comes with. It is important to know beforehand that this is not a plug and play USB microphone. Regardless, this is easy to recommend a good buy.

The right elements of a great budget monitor.
on December 21, 2021

The Element 27" IPS LED 1080p Full HD Frameless Monitor is good budget monitor for basic productivity work. If you set the expectation of just a basic, simple, decent display to be used in office/ productivity applications – you will be satisfied. If you are looking for a feature rich or gaming display – you will be disappointed. However, Elements does not market it as the latter. This is PC monitor targeting the budget segment by offering the a large 27” screen for the lowest price ( at least at the time of this review.) In review:
Pros –
Offers both VGA and HDMI connections.
1080 P
Thin and sturdy frame.
3 sided frameless bezels. Great for dual monitor side by side use with an extended desktop.
Includes HDMI cable.
Decent color accuracy and performance out of the box for office use.
Static image quality was good – circles were complete and round, color gradients had no breaks or banding and frequency patterns were clear and defined. All are good signs for text intensive applications.
Wide viewing angle.
Cons –
ODS control is confusing and difficult to use.
Stand has no height adjustment. I had to use a VESA mount stand from a competitor to effectively use it.
Light blooming and lack of uniformity is noticeable on all grey backgrounds.
Neutral -
The slow 6.5ms refresh is noticeable in moving graphics. In a monitor test, it was clear that this is productivity monitor.
Brightness 250 nits is passable for productivity applications.
Conclusion
The decent features and low price make the Element 27" IPS LED 1080p Full HD Frameless Monitor a good value for home office applications. If you catch this one sale, it is hard to beat the value.

As always, Adobe is the top choice.
on November 22, 2021
Posted by: TechnicallyCorrect
from Farmingdale, NY
I first used Adobe Photoshop over 25 years ago and have used various Adobe photo editing programs ever since. I eventually moved on to the Adobe Creative Cloud for the full suite of Adobe’s professional software. It was a steep learning curve and way overpowered for most things I was doing. I think most people will find the same and find that Adobe’s high end professional products are way too much for everyday use due to the steep learning curve. That is where Photoshop Elements 2022 & Premiere Elements 2022 comes in. First, don’t worry about this being a stripped-down version of Photoshop and Premiere that is going to leave you wanting for something more powerful. Second, this software is not too complicated for most moderate users to figure most of the basics (although not necessarily intuitive.) Since this is literally two programs, I will review each one separately.
Photoshop Elements –
Adobe took a smart approach to a very complicated subject. They break the program into levels of skillset – quick, guided and expert. For most users, the quick option will cover most basic photo needs. Quick touch ups, color adjustments, lighting, balance, exposure etc are all there. Then there is an option called smart fix – it is literally a one button fix of your photos. Sure, you can fine tune it with the other features but in most cases the “Auto” smart fix will maximize your photos appearance. If you need to go to the next level, guided gives a more robust set of adjustments as well as unique editing functions and special effects. It really is impressive - you can merge different elements of photos or different photos altogether, add frames, change depth of fields. The last option of expert is Photoshop “lite.” This is more for power users – layers, cloning tools, filters , paint tools and other unique tools . One such unique tool is the eye open tool. If you take a picture where someone closed their eyes you can import their eyes from another photo and apply it to the new photo. Truly incredible.
Photoshop Premiere Elements –
Premiere Elements is video editing designed for quick and easy ways to trim video files, clean them up ( i.e. noise) to make them look great, personalize them with various visual effects. Essentially it can polish up videos to what you want almost automatically. At first, I did not find this as feature rich as the Photoshop Elements, but it does use the same format of skillset levels of quick, guided and expert. However, once I explored the expert level further, found a robust set of tools that can handle nearly all video functions. Adobe promotes this program as a fund way to share videos, but I can see a whole other level of power. It has powerful basics 6 channel audio mixer that you can apply to background or foreground, motion tracking, add text (which can be tied to the field you are tracking,) media imports as well as higher level functions such as adding menus to videos (think DVD’s, ) gamma correction, temperature adjustment and a lot more. I have no where near the same experience in video editing as I do in photo editing but know enough to be dangerous and I can say that this will do the job even for experiences Youtuber’s.
Both apps share a common Organizer for easy access to all your photos and videos. This feature is efficient, clean and does a great job. I’ve read a few reviews that state “great for the amateur” and, while I can understand that impression, these programs are far more powerful than just for an amateur. Even a power user will be able to get a lot done with this robust program and I am very impressed what you get for the money. There is nothing that comes close to the feature set that comes with these programs for the money. There is still a learning curve for the advanced features that may dissuade some users but the basic to mid-level features are a snap with Adobe’s automations. The program did hang up ( almost seemed like it crashed ) and may be what others are referring to as crashing. My system is more than powerful enough to handle the programs and I think it is related to some type of interface between the two programs when you have both open. That is a complete guess, but it did happen more than once. There are no great benefits to upgrading if you have 2019 or after but this is still a 5-star product that I can easily recommend .

You shouldn’t have to settle for a watered-down version of your favorite iced coffee at home. By brewing at a lower temperature, preinfusing and offering the ability to customize to an extra strong taste, smooth, full-bodied coffee over ice that is never watered down. An automatic bean-to-cup machine, Dinamica offers “one-touch” beverages: espresso, long espresso, drip-style coffee, and a new feature - Over Ice, just select the strength to your liking. To deliver the freshest brew possible, the Dinamica’s revolutionary technology grinds the perfect amount of your favorite beans leaving no residual coffee in the brewing unit. Also, with an integrated Premium Adjustable Frother, you can create Italian classic cappuccino with a dryer milk foam texture or choose the Hot Milk setting for your latte. And cleanup is a snap, taking half the time of other machines - just pop out the drip tray, and drop it in the dishwasher.

The Dinamica sets the bar for the home barista.

Reviewing the De'Longhi - Dinamica TrueBrew coffee and expresso maker is difficult. I know that is an odd way to start off a review but this is a lot of machine for a narrow band of users. I consider myself a novice when it comes to expresso/ cappacino making but advanced for coffee making. After a week of using the Dinamica TrueBrew, I can say it makes an incredible restaurant quality cup of coffee. There is nothing comparable to fresh ground beans used immediately to brew coffee. Just keep in mind, this is essentially a single serve coffee maker (actually two cups if you place under each spout.) You may first think to compare this to an advanced Keurig but it is far from it. It is the difference between and Mercedes S Class and Hyundai Elantra. In review:
Unboxing and set up –
The first thing you will notice is this is a very heavy unit. It is over 20lbs and you need every bit of that for any coffee and espresso maker with a grinder built in. Besides the machine itself, you get a water filter, “Signature Coperaco Expresso” coffee blend, a descaler and a water filter. There is a “welcome box” with instruction guides and quick start guide. The quick start guide goes through testing your water for hardness and includes a water filter should your water is too hard. I just installed the water filter, I already knew I had hard water so I just put it in. Frankly I do not know why they even have you test the water when installing the filter takes less than 30 seconds and it cannot hurt anything. I recommend reading the quick start guide and then through the full instructions. You will quickly learn that the detailed instructions has a lot of information that is in the quick start guide. For example, you may find that your unit has some coffee grinds in the unit. That does not mean that it is used, De'Longhi tests their units. There are details about adjustments to the coffer grind, adjusting to water hardness and much, much more.
Build quality, fit and finish –
The unit appears to be well built but nearly all the metallic looking surfaces are plastic made to look like metal. I would have preferred a bit more metal in this price range. Since I have only had it for a week or so, I cannot attest to long term durability. However, the plastic is high quality, and all the moving parts definitely have the feel of “solidness” you would expect in a high-cost appliance.
Sound –
No coffee grinder and expresso machine is going to be quiet when operating but this is quieter compared to another coffee grinder I have. In terms of expresso making, it is about the same as other high-quality machines.
Coffee performance –
Out of the box with no adjustments, the Dinamica TrueBrew made delicious coffee after a couple of runs. At first the coffee seemed to be watered down and I tried adjusting the grind. It made things worse. After reading the manual, De'Longhi clearly states that it takes a few runs before the coffee tastes best. I put the grinder back in its original setting and ran it a couple of times. At about the third cup, everything fell into place, and it was delicious. Clearly, it helps to read everything. The strong point of this machine it is truly automatic, nearly all the guess work is taken away. Although expresso is not my favorite, it was easy to make. Cappuccinos on the other hand, were a pleasant surprise and just as good as I have tasted anywhere else.
Frothing performance –
Wow. What a difference from a high-quality machine. Perfect every time I tried it. Rich, creamy yet light. This is opening up a new world for at home brewing.
Controls -
Simple and intuitive for every function. There is little learning curve and it’s icon driven functions are well polished. The touch screen display is bright and well made. It really is automatic in all it’s functions. There are many different settings that may appear intimidating at first but in the end are truly simplistic.
Clean up –
I found everything accessible and relatively easy to clean. There appears to be backflushing and descaling options, but you will not necessarily be doing that initially.
Warranty –
2 years with option to get a third if you register the product.
I have to admit that I thought this was going to be too much of a machine for me. I’ve always been a straight coffee drinker and I have been through my fair share of coffee grinders and makers. For the most part, I have found the simple yet well made coffee machines are best. This machine , while not simple, is making me rethink that. For home use, I never really had a desire to make expresso or cappuccino. I just reviewed a Ninja that had specialty coffee selection that was supposed to make a latte like or expresso like coffee and it was not good for that function. In that regard, there is no comparison to the De'Longhi - Dinamica TrueBrew nor should be considering this unit is 5 times the price. While I personally do not always like espresso, this machine opened up home made cappuccinos for me. Once I got the hang of adding the milk, it was just as good as any restaurant. With that said, I’d like to focus on the grind for coffee making. It really is an amazing difference to have the De'Longhi - Dinamica TrueBrew grind the prefect amount of beans for immediate use . The smell and taste are just so much better than any other single serve. If you can afford the best, consider the De'Longhi - Dinamica TrueBrew. 4 out of 5 stars.

Choose from one of four different brew styles; classic or rich for a traditional hot cup of coffee, over ice for an iced coffee that's never diluted, or specialty to make a cappuccino or latte. Clean function, dishwasher-safe parts, removable Ninja pod adaptor and frother allow you to easily deep clean your unit.

One of the best , most versatile coffee makers.

I’ve owned several Ninja coffee makers over the years and have had some mixed results. I have found some of them to finicky to get the right strength and sometimes it was inconsistent. However, after learning about using them properly and the improvements they have made on the water delivery, I really started liking them. The one thing I did not like was the counter space my last top of line Ninja took up and I ended up putting it away and replacing it with a slimmer Keurig. I live by myself, so I really did not need a full-size coffee maker unless I had guests and the loss of counter space hurt. With this new Ninja - DualBrew Pro Specialty Coffee System, I have the best of both worlds in a coffee maker at less than half the counter space. It functions as both a single serve K Cup brewer as well as a traditional coffee maker.
This is a simply fantastic coffee maker. The single serve pod option is just as good, if not better than the Keurig I have. It’s the same pods I have been using but I swear it tastes better. It has to be Ninja’s water distribution and high temperatures. The Dualbrew basically has 4 different options for coffee:
Rich –
A deeper, richer tasting coffee. I tried this with a medium roast first and it was just too strong for me. It gave a Starbucks like taste and is not my favorite. However, I can see a lot of people liking this setting.
Classic –
A traditional coffee. It was just perfect. I was really impressed with the flavor and was reminiscent of McDonald's coffee. This would be my go to setting.
Specialty –
A strong type of latte tasting coffee. Definitely not for me, just too strong and I could not get it right. There is nothing wrong with this setting, it is just not for me and the more expensive coffee makers doa better job. The Ninja DualBrew does have a built in frother for milk to be used in conjunction with specialty coffees. Even though it is not my cup of tea ( haha,) I gave it a shot and it definitely frothed milk decently.
Iced Coffee –
I did not try this option, I do not like ice coffee.
The controls are easy to use, intuitive and very bright. It’s the best controls I’ve seen on a coffee maker. The fit and finish have the look and feel of a much more expensive unit. There is obvious attention to detail in every aspect of the DualBrew – the well-insulated carafe, the easy switching between single serve and a traditional coffee maker, the extra-long cord, the boiler water option, the stand for single serve – everything I need in a coffee maker is just perfect in the Ninja Dual Brew.
Now I saved the best for last, and it makes this coffee maker 5 stars for me. You can move water tank to back of unit. I know it seems minor, but this option makes the Ninja - DualBrew Pro Specialty Coffee System only 6 inches wide. Yes, it does make is the coffee maker 6 inches deeper, but it is so much more important to me for counter width. This one feature completely sells it for me.
If you have made it all the way through my review, there are no real negatives to speak of. The only possible issue I could see people running into is the unit is tall at a bit over 15 inches. When you open the lid , it adds another 3.5 inches. If you have a nonstandard height of less than 18 inches between the bottom of your cabinet and your countertop, it could be an issue. That is unlikely but it is worth mentioning.
In conclusion, this is the best Ninja coffee maker I have owned. It performs better than its reasonable price would suggest. Is it as good as top line Technivorm, Breville or Delonghi Dynamica coffee makers? No, but those are up to 5 times the price, gigantic and not as versatile. This is an easy 5 stars and I completely recommend it.

I’ve been using the Razer - Wolverine V2 Chroma Pro Gaming Controller for over a week now and I find myself asking the same questions? Does the “ Razer™ Mecha-Tactile Action Buttons and D-Pad empower your every move with cutting-edge precision and crisp tactile feedback for a competitive edge? ” Does the “3-million tap life cycle for greater durability” make difference when Razer gives you the same warranty as everyone else? Is there truly any measurable benefit that justifies 2.5 times the price of standard controller? The answer is a resounding no. I noticed zero difference in gameplay and found myself being annoyed that the control is not wireless. That is right, it’s not wireless like a standard controller. Razer does not exactly emphasize that point. I really could not care less that the controller lights up during the different games nor do the additional customized buttons make any difference.
I know - a pretty brutal review so far. The Razer - Wolverine V2 does function competently and is fine as a controller. But there is so little benefit to switching over to this controller for 2.5 times the price of a standard controller that I cannot possibly recommend it. If you are looking for a high end controller ( which you do not really need for great game play,) look to the X-Box Elite controller .
Sorry Razer but what is the point of this controller?

can I watch tv and see the person I am talking too on the tv?

Maybe, but it is not a function that is built into the device. You have to connect this to a dedicated HDMI port. Theoretically, if your TV had picture in picture ; you could display two video sources.

Would this be a good choice for getting my hurricane shutters up in the event of a power outage?

In most cases, I would not recommend this product for that application. There are far too many variables in terms of power consumption and compatibility with whatever type of hurricane shutters you may have. I would recommend talking to a professional installer to get options.
