Robot is good but programming is lacking
on January 9, 2021
Posted by: Josh454
from Lisle, IL
I have had this robot for several weeks and have found it to be perfect for my needs even though it can be frustrating.
Hardware:
The robot can both mop or vacuum. This is great as my whole house is wood/hard floors with rugs in various rooms. It will only mop/vac the hard floors when I put the mopping attachment on, and when that is off it will vacuum everything. The robot does a good job of cleaning the floors. It seems to have about a 50% overlap on rows so it picks up everything in the room. The only complaint I have with the cleaning part of it is the little sweeping arms that are supposed to clean along the edge and sweep things to the vacuum don't do much. We still have to clean under cabinets and along baseboards every so often. The path the vacuum takes is also pretty efficient. It cleans like you would mow a yard essentially. It goes around the perimeter and then cleans the room row by row.
I wish the mopping tank was slightly bigger. I have about 1100 sq ft of floor space with about 800 sq ft that is mops. On the low flow setting it seems to only be able to do about 700 sq ft before it runs out and stops. The mopping is good for regular cleaning but don't expect it to get large spots or marks up. We spot clean anything that need scrubbed before then this cleans/polishes the floors well.
Setup:
The setup is easy enough. Install the app, run through the detection procedures, customize the map and it's ready to go. It got there but was not completely smooth. The first run for mapping worked perfectly and came up with a very accurate floorplan of my house. I had to adjust/combine zones it had created but that all worked very easily. The second sweep it does is to detect rugs (so it does not try to mop carpet). This one had a problem, it took the robot until the 3rd try for some reason to complete this. The first 2 attempts it made it 50% then 70% through the house and returned to the dock and acted like it hadn't done anything. Once it got it on the 3rd attempt though it's been fine. After that you just have to empty the container and refill the mop and it's good to go.
App/Programming:
I think this is the major weakness of this robot. I like Shark products and have faith they will work these issues out as they're all easily fixable through updates.
- App would not allow anything except full house cleaning. If you tried to do 'high traffic' or selected rooms it would just 'communicate' and go back to the main screen like you hadn't done anything. This is one of the major selling points of this robot so it not working is a major problem. I contacted customer service and they advised to resize the rooms on the map so none were overlapping because apparently that throws the robot for a loop and it can't determine where a room stops. Seems like an easy problem to fix on their end but I adjusted rooms with space between and it didn't fix the problem. UPDATED 1/9/21 - The most recent app update fixed the individual room problem for me. After that update I can select room or 'high traffic' and it goes about it's business and returns to the dock as it should.
- Presets will not hold in the global settings. I have the vacuum set to MAX and the mop flow set to Low on the robot settings in the app but every time I start it is goes back to regular vacuuming and normal flow. I have to adjust each time so I don't know what the point of having global settings is if they don't translate to the robot presets.
- No computer support is frustrating when trying to set up and adjust the map at the beginning. It's difficult to swipe around the map to resize rooms and zones on a small phone. I'm guessing the app might work on tablets also which would be easier but having a website login would be very convienent.
- This is not as much a problem as something goofy. The app gives you a timer for how long the robot has been cleaning. But the timer is all over the place unless you leave the app open the whole time. If you close it and open it later it's like it wasn't counting the time, then if you open it again later it's jumped, but not to the correct time, just something in between correct and the last time it showed. It doesn't really make a difference but a programming problem.
- I came in to the robot one day stuck on a thick rug we have because it was supposed to be mopping and for some reason drove to the middle of the rug. It's supposed to stay clear of rugs when mopping so something with programming freaked out that time and didn't keep it away. That only happened once though and has been fine.
- The robot has a nice Recharge and Restart setting that lets it go back to the cradle when the batteries low, recharge, then start where it left off to finish the run. For some reason this does not translate to the mopping though. The battery outlasts the fluid tank and when the tank is empty, it just stops wherever it is and waits for you to refill it. It would be nice if it would go back and recharge while waiting to be refilled, not just sit. The restart doesn't always work after it runs out either, I have to hit the clean button on the robot itself to get it to finish the run. If you hit the play button from the app it will finish the room and go back to the charger for some reason, not finish the whole run.
I have listed a number of issues I had hoping that buyers will know the little things before hand and decide if those would be a problem for them. I would still recommend this robot as it is great to have 1 robot that both vacuums or vac/mops. It does a good job of cleaning and all of my issues can be ironed out with updates. Some of them have been fixed already so they are continuing to fine tune.
Overall I would recommend this robot. It beats the price of 2 different robots to do each and once the bugs are fixed should be a good complete package.

Great shaver
on December 31, 2020
Posted by: Josh454
from Lisle, IL
This shaver is a very nice unit with all the features I could want and then some.
The shaver is smooth and comfortable, the handle is ergonomic and the battery life is great. I didn't have any irritation at all with the well designed shaver head. It was able to get everywhere I needed to with little effort. The trimmer on the back is very convenient for quick trims. The wet option is great for both convenience and flexibility. I normally don't use it but it's nice to have as an option.
The app is also nice and informative. It's extra and not needed but does have good advise and offers updates for the shaver which I assume just helps the app work better.
I would highly recommend this shaver for anyone looking to upgrade. It's top of the line and well worth the money.

Best earbuds I've used
on November 12, 2020
Posted by: Josh454
from Lisle, IL
These earbuds are awesome!
I'll start with the great.
- Sound quality is excellent for earbuds this small.
- Fit is great. This is the first bluetooth earbud/earpiece of any type (I've tried them all) that doesn't get even a little uncomfortable after a while. I can have these in all day and my ears never get sore
- The case is very solid and charges the earbuds quickly
- Battery life seems to be exactly as stated
- LED lights make sense and are clear and bright
- Noise cancelling is great. I can fool it for a little bit with loud tools and other sudden noises but it blocks out more than I expected.
- Hear-through is a nice feature that I'm able to have conversations while leaving the earpieces in.
- They seem well designed and built. I work in dusty areas a lot and I think these will hold up very well.
- Fitment is great. The include 3 different sizes and they stay in my ear very well as long as I'm not completely sideways moving my head around (which did happen a couple times and I just had to push them back in a little every few minutes)
- Firmware is updateable so they should only get better with fine tuning.
- Customizable actions makes it easy to remember what each does.
- The app is amazing. It makes everything so easy. If there's something I can't adjust quickly by only tapping the earpiece it's only a couple seconds longer pulling out the phone and adjusting on the app. It's well laid out, has everything I would want or need in adjusting and looks clean and easy to get around in. It also clearly tells you the percentage of battery and is seems to be very accurate which is helpful.
Cons:
- This might just be my phone. I'm still using a Moto Z Force so I'm an older bluetooth standard. On phone calls the volume does not go as high as I would like. Music is not a problem but calls are so I'm assuming it's something with my phone, not the earbuds.
- The one gripe I have is with Mono mode and I'm hoping Jabra reads these reviews and can add this with a firmware update. From what I've found Mono mode only works with the Right earpiece (left still in case or more than about a foot away from the right). It would be awesome if this worked the same way for the left earpiece. I can't imagine it would be hard to program...I don't know if it's because I'm a lefty or just weird but I've found several instances in the last week that I would have rather had the left in for Mono than the right.
- I have to look into this but all my Jabra headsets would read my texts and announce phone call through the earpiece. These headphones didn't do it automatically like my several bluetooth phone earpieces so hopefully it's something I can set up because that is a handy feature to have.
Overall these earbuds are awesome and I hope they hold up well because I'm using them all the time now. Jabra has designed a great set here and I would highly recommend these to anyone.

Good printer for the right situation
on October 28, 2020
Posted by: Josh454
from Lisle, IL
This is a good printer for home use or the right business. It printers both pictures and documents well and quickly and seems like it will hold up very well. The setup is very easy and the large screen has very nice guides that walk you through every step. The screen is a great size and nice and bright. The wireless setup is very easy and connects well. The software that is included is intuitive and does the job well. The screen makes it very easy to do everything from the printer also.
There are a couple downsides:
- Scanner lid is just normal hinges so it does not hold open unless it's all the way up. If you let go anywhere but fully open it will slam shut.
- There is only 1 input tray so if you need to switch paper size, print on an envelope or picture paper you have to empty the tray to put in the new paper. If you only use one size paper then this isn't really a problem.
- The printer is a little louder than other comparable printers I've used, not by much though so probably wouldn't be to noticeable.
Overall if you don't mind these little quirks then this would be a great printer for home or small business.

Good system and wireless is awesome
on October 15, 2020
Posted by: Josh454
from Lisle, IL
I have been using this system for over a week and overall it is a great system. I have 2 cameras set up, one in front of the house and one on a tree in back yard.
Front camera:
It took a little fine tuning as the camera looks from above the garage onto the driveway, sidewalk, village sidewalk and street. After setting up the activity zones it took a couple days to stop getting false events when a red car would drive past. But after the AI learned (I assume that's what the delay was) it has been great. It's recognized 444 events, filtered 199 and recorded 245. The battery is still at 88%. It picks up the drive fine and detects motion from about 30ft away now on 2 of 7 sensitivity.
Rear camera:
This camera has been more of a struggle to set up. There are a couple branches in view and with activity zones set up on windy days the branches will still blow into the zone and trigger the camera. I will end up moving as it is to far away anyway but don't have a better place to put yet. This camera is at 4% battery after recognizing 6609 events, filtering 5771 and recording 838 of them.
Pros:
- Night vision is very good, not 'color' but very clear image.
- Spot light on motion is a nice deterrent and also remote turn on from app is nice
- Battery life is good. I have cameras set to record more (not optimal battery setting) and they are lasting what I had hoped. Recharging 4 times a year or less is no problem to me
- Setup was very easy. Just install next to router and cameras pair with device through sound
- Range is good. My homestation is set up in basement. One camera is about 50' away going through entire house structure. Backyard camera is set up about 80' away going through foundation.
- Microphones and speaker work well
- App is well laid out and easy to use.
- Camera's can update firmware so they should only get better with time
- System is expandable up to 16 devices
- Tons of setting (most I've seen in a camera system) you can fine tune to get exactly the results you want.
Not-pros (not really cons necessarily)
- Mount is not the greatest. It's basic and should hold up well but there really should be a 90 degree adapter included in packaging because mounting to the soffit would be much easier in most situations
- Settings take some getting use to. There is some patience required as you make adjustments and give it time to work out the details within the AI system
Setup was incredibly easy as this is completely wireless (I have home station hard lined to router but not necessary). It works exactly as I had hoped and would definitely recommend this system.

Great improvement over our previous model
on September 21, 2020
Posted by: Josh454
from Lisle, IL
Before this model I had a K45 Elite. In comparison this model is much better. This model is smaller which is great for counter space. It brews a cup of coffee faster and tastes noticeably better. This is likely due to the multi-stream system that puts 5 streams of water into the cup instead of just 1. It has 4 cup sizes compared to the 3 of my previous model. This new model is also noticeably quieter while brewing.
It also has Bold and Over Ice options. The Bold works well and is a noticeable difference. The Over Ice is nice, but not my personal favorite. I like iced coffee, but to me this is just like brewing with the Bold option with ice in the mug. The ice melts within several minutes and then just tasted like cold, but strong & not watered down coffee. I will still use it from time to time but it's not quite what I was hoping for.
My only other negative would be the reservoir. While the size, handle and changeable location are great, I don't believe it is actually 66oz. It seems to hold about 56oz. The other 10oz might be held in the machine which could explain the faster brewing.
Overall this is a wonderful improvement over the K45 Elite. I hope it lasts as well.

Good dual mobile charger

Belkin makes good chargers. This is no different.
It's a good size, has a nice small light that lets you know it's on but not so bright it's obnoxious. It charged everything I had at the full 2.4a with both plugged in. I cannot speak to longevity but I haven't had problems with Belkin before and don't expect to have a problem with this.
I would definitely recommend this charger.

Great wheel for the price
on September 3, 2020
Posted by: Josh454
from Lisle, IL
I'll start off with the fact I haven't owned a force feedback wheel in years but have used the recent offerings on several occasions. I do have experience with actual racing on a wide range of cars.
This wheel is a nice improvement on the previous generation and other wheels from this price range. I'm sure you can get wheels that have a more direct feel for much more money, same as you can spend much more and just go race the real cars. This wheel is great for this price range. The TrueForce system works well and is a noticeable improvement over the previous systems.
My drawbacks are the wheel itself is somewhat noisy. I'm not sure how it compares to the other wheels but if you are racing with speakers you will hear the wheel working. I normally use headphones so it was not a concern but it is something to note. Also the pedals are fine for use but they do not have the actual feel of the real thing. They are an improvement over the previous generations though and closer to the real thing.
Overall I'm very happy with this wheel. It'll be great for the winter months when it's hard to get out and enjoy cars in the North and I look forward to many hours of racing with this wheel in the future.

Great convenient hand blender
on July 24, 2020
Posted by: Josh454

This blender is exactly what you would expect from a KitchenAid product. It is well made, good looking and the cordless option is awesome.
Charging this is very easy. It has an LED that gives you status of battery while using it and also lets you see how full while charging.
The blender is easy to disassemble and clean and has a lot of power. The variable speed trigger works very smoothly. You can also get a number of attachments for it that we will probably be ordering soon,
I would definitely recommend this hand blender. Not dealing with a cord is well worth the price.

Your experience may vary
on July 12, 2020
Posted by: Josh454
from Lisle, IL
So I'll start off by saying I cannot tell if my varied experiences were because the Belkin adapter was the problem or if it's the multitude of implementations of USB-C by every different manufacturer. I'd guess it's the latter and the adapter works fine when the USB-C port is built correctly. I used a Platinum 95w USB-C PD charger to test the power pass-through.
Every laptop I tested the picture on the monitor looked just as good as when plugged into the laptop. This adapter does not seem to have any loss of quality or distortion.
The adapter works perfectly on my 2018 HP x360 Envy 15.6" laptop. It plugged right in and everything worked. The monitor came through and the laptop was charging at the same time.
My 2019 Dell Inspiron 15.6" 7000 series laptop will work with one or the other. It will pass through charging but only if the VGA port is not used. And if the VGA port is in use it will not pass through charge. Also if the charger is plugged in the adapter first then you plug the adapter into the laptop it will recognize charger over monitor.
Third laptop I tested was a 2020 Samsung Galaxy Book Flex Alpha 13". It would recognize the monitor but not the USB-C charger. My caveat to this though is the laptop itself will not recognize the charger directly either because Samsung is a pain with outside chargers. So my guess would be if the USB-C charger works with the laptop it would work through this adapter also.
The cool thing with this adapter is with all 3 laptops I tested I was able to set up a 3 monitor array by using the built-in display, a monitor plugged into the built-in HDMI port and a monitor connected to this adapter. If you want a 3 monitor setup, don't mind plugging in an extra cable and don't want to spend hundreds on a multi-monitor docking station this is a great alternative.

The Shark EZ Robot is your easy path to a smart clean. It combines the convenience of a self-empty base with powerful Shark suction for a complete home clean. After each cleaning session, your robot automatically empties itself into the bagless self-empty base, which holds multiple sessions’ worth of dirt and debris so you can forget about vacuuming for weeks. Now that’s easy.

Is this robot smart enough not to fall down stairs

Yes it will not fall down stairs. There are a couple warnings in the manual about not having carpet runners at the top of wood stairs and such where apparently the robot can get confused and risk falling. But I have not had a problem, it cleans up the the edge of steps on hard surfaces and does not risk falling.

Does this have a home mapping and room by room cleaning feature?

It seems to map the floorplan as it goes but it is not a map you can see, adjust or label. From what I can tell it is stored in the robot and just used to fine tune the cleaning runs.
As for room-by-room cleaning it does not have that feature. It is just whole house cleaning or nothing (unless you can close doors or block the robot with the boundary strips to keep it out of certain areas.

Shark VACMOP Pro cordless hard floor system uses an innovative all-in-one disposable pad to vacuum and lock away debris other pads push around, and to spray mop tough messes. Pick up dry debris, then spray mop, and toss the pad with one click–never touch a dirty pad again! Features LED headlights, charger, 2 disposable pads, and a 12-oz. bottle of Shark VACMOP Multi-Surface Cleaner.

How many times can you use the pad before throwing it away?

Depends on how wet it gets. I've stored them being only slightly wet and it did fine. If it gets saturated I'd throw it out and start fresh. I think when I checked pads were less than $1 so I don't know that it's worth trying to stretch them out to long.

What is a magnetic charger? How long does it hold a charge?

Magnetic charger just means it does not have exposed plugs you have to plug in. There is a wall plug like a phone charger, then the other end of the cord is a small appx 1.5" disk that has a magnet built in. You put that against the back charging area of the vacuum and it automatically sticks to the vacuum and charges without having to 'plug' into the vacuum. The advantage is if you forget to 'unplug' before grabbing the vacuum the disk will just pull off, no harm done.
I can't attest to how long a charge will last. I've used it for over half an hour with spraying and vacuuming and it's not giving any indication it needs charged again. The LED on the front will flash different times to show when it's getting low and needs charged.
Hope this helps.

They recommend you throw it away after every use. The instructions say to store the vacuum without a pad on it. I have stored it for a couple nights with a slightly wet pad and used it again and it did fine. If the pad was overly wet I would dispose of it before letting it sit.

Call friends, get online and play apps with this Moto Z Force Droid smartphone. It’s designed around Moto Mods, interchangeable backs that snap onto your smartphone, instantly transforming it into a movie projector, boombox, battery powerhouse, and more. A capacitive touch screen and 16 million colors ensure a brilliant display that reacts smoothly, and Corning Gorilla Glass protects against shattering or scrapes when the phone is dropped. You can use this Moto Z Force Droid smartphone with its Android Marshmallow operating system to run Google apps.

Does this also come with the free upgrade and free activation that Verizon is offering through their website?

I didn't get free activation although it was a better deal if you pre-ordered through Best Buy than VZW. Not sure if it is now that its normal purchase though.

Does this phone have wireless charging?

No not built in. You can essentially add it though through the Incipio, Tumi or Kate Spade battery mods that have wireless charging though.

It doesn't mention that the screen is shatterproof like the ones Verizon has, is it? Because that's the main reason I'm interested

All Moto Z Droid Force have unbreakable screen from what I understand.

All Moto Z Droids have normal screens.

Can someone who owns this phone let me know how the screen is outdoors? Is it bright enough to see well outdoors?

I came from a Droid Maxx if that helps but the Moto Z Force has dimmer low and brighter high than that phone does.

I have used it outside fairly often without the screen as bright as it would go and I can see it clearly.
