Good idea, one weak point

Love the idea. Had it for a couple months. Worked great until I tried to make a last minute adjustment with my digital camera on it. The camera and swivel mount snapped off it my hand with the breaking point being between where the legs come together and where the swivel tightens. I am going to check into the warranty, but it may be cheaper or easier to buy a new one depending on shipping costs. I tried to super glue it, but it was just too small of a surface.
What's great about it: Very versitale. Reg. table tripod, & many other places too!
What's not so great: Weak spot between where legs come together & swivel tightens.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I purchased this because of the great design and it would have given me a lot of flexibility for my digital camera.
However, less than 17 hours of usage, 2 of the legs broke off just under the base where the camera would be mounted.
The concept of this design is great, however, it needs to be made of some other flexible material instead of the aluminum that is wrapped in the outter plastic.
I was tempted to exchange this for another one, but I think a traditional tripod (small tabletop type) will suite my purpose better.
Again, this is a great design, but the flexible legs need to be made of a strong flexible material.
What's great about it: Concept was good
What's not so great: Concept needs to go back to the draft table
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This item doesn't even deserve 1 star.
The quick release mount "ballhead" is a joke. It wiggles around too much. The ballhead only pivots up or down in one spot which makes it difficult to level or frame a shot. You cannot mount the camera on the tripod without the the ballhead.
The main leg connectors do not have enough tension on them to stay in place. Unlike other users have reported, I had no trouble tightly bending the legs back and forth.
What's great about it: legs hold onto smooth surfaces better than competitor products
What's not so great: it breaks after 1-2 uses
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This tripod features a 'Double-Lock' quick-release mechanism that may not be fully considered by someone new to using tripods. But once figuring out how it works, the camera can be readily carried apart from the tripod while requiring only a moment for reconnection to the tripod. Indeed, the tripod should not be carried or transported with the camera attached. If not handled reasonably for its designed purpose, I am sure that the tripod's design will easily fail.

A one-year warranty requiring pre-paid (and insured) shipping to a NJ address will not be of interest to many who will shell out the equivalent of the price of 4 gallons of gas (or less) for this item.
|
Having owned it for only a few days, I fully expect that its design will continue to be serviceable for quite some time.
|
I find great utility in this item as my steadiness in holding the lighter than air digital camera is not so good.
|
And as my need for pictures is seldom other than with my wife and friends, I do like to be included in the picture. It is amazing how often a "knob" of some sort becomes available for use with this flexible tripod with its appendages that really can get a grip.
|
On sale at $18, it seems well worth the price. You can read more about the ToCAD product line on the Sunpak flexpod plus web page of www.tocad.com
What's great about it: Perfect companion for digital cam/camcorder; mount cam to a fence, a limb of tree, a rail; even use as tabletop tripod!
What's not so great: Appearance of being a toy may result in misuse by children
I would recommend this to a friend!

Broke in Minutes

One of my friends has a similar tripod and I was impressed with its utility enough that I purchased this one. Upon returning home I removed my exciting new tripod from its packaging, eager to test its flexible prowess. Yet as I opened its legs one of them simply fell off. I returned it for a refund the next day and decided to use a regular miniature tripod.
I've recently discovered that there is another brand of these things. While it's $18 more, I have a feeling that it's more durable, especially considering how well my friend's faired. When I get the chance, I'm going to purchase it and see how it holds up.
What's great about it: Great idea
What's not so great: Broke within minutes of opening package
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Well, its broken now and in the trash, but I WAS able to put this (barely though) on the handlebars of my bycycle and I recorded a short video on my Sony Cyber-Shot. It handled it well, and the video is on my PS3. But I was bending the legs (gently) one night, and one broke. Didn't come off, but was limp, like an old action figure's leg. So after trying to bend a different angle, it came off. I think it's sellin for $10 at stores. Save your ten and add ten more and get another brands tripod, but beware legs still might break. I will be buying a more practical one soon.
What's great about it: Railings, Trees, or just standing-goes anywhere
What's not so great: It'd probably break before it ever saw a tree
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

great product, i don't see how other people are braking it if you don't force it to move, it wont break, and to those who broke it opening the package, learn to open a package right. in the video i attached, it held the steering wheel on my truck ok, i wasn't able to get it so it wouldn't move, but it did do its job. only 3/4 throttle because it would have fell back
What's great about it: bendable, versatility
What's not so great: nothing
I would recommend this to a friend!

This product is absolutely terrible. My first one broke before I could get it completely out of its packaging. Second one broke the first time I tried to move one of the legs. Third one broke before it could get out of the packaging as well. All three times it was a leg that came completely off. Avoid this product. Even if you can get it out of the box, it will break upon first use.
What's great about it: Clever Idea
What's not so great: Breaks before first use
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
