Installation was a breeze. Time consuming due to the unnecessary channel scans since most people plug in to set top boxes and only need channel 3 or 4.
The remote is a nice touch but useless if you have a cable/sat box since you'll be using its remote anyways. Even more so if you also have a DVR like me because you'll probably not be saving anything to the computer. We use the included remote exclusively for turning on/off the TV application and controlling the volume.
The only flaw that cost it a star was the lag from the remote to my cable box. About 2-3 seconds. More like 5-7 seconds in WMC. But it is tolerable once you get used to it.

I purchased this item to watch tv on my 27 inch monitor in my kitchen/living room area of my apartment. It's only really for when I'm cooking or relaxing in the living room. So it's not my primary tv source thank God. That is in my bedroom.
I have Windows 8 with my 27 inch monitor extended off my laptop. Some times the program just randomly locks up and crashes, usually (always) when I move the program from my 27 inch monitor to my laptop screen and try to maximize, the program crashes.. It's works fine on the 27 inch though.
Also, My tv in my bedroom was able to have my analog channels on whole numbered tv stations (1,2,3,4... 25...45.. etc).. and then my HD channels on decimal numbers .. so, NBC would be channel 5, and its HD affiliate would be 5.1... this stupid thing puts my analog stations from 1 to 100.. then puts my HD channels in the 2000's out of order, with no labels. They expect you to label every channel yourself.. Some of them are labeled 99.4 or something but it's really annoying as I have not memorized every channel that my service provider offers..
Next switching from channel to channel takes a while sometimes.. some times the average load time is 2 to 5 seconds.. that's a long time if you are channel surfing. Also, my 42 inch displays HD channels pretty clear.. although the clarity is decent on my 27 inch I feel it doesn't compare to the 42 inch which being a smaller image it should be better.. btw this monitor is a 27 inch LED samsung, and the 42 inch tv in the bedroom is a LCD sharp.. so i'd expect the better quality from the 27 inch..
Finally, the remote sometimes turns on the device and sometimes does not...
This product is nice when it's working but it definitely was designed to make money and not with the user in mind. It is not worth 79.99 and I'm glad I did not pay that much for this device. ..
What's great about it: Clear HD pictures
What's not so great: scatters my HD signals around, Crashes a lot.

with windows media center you can use more than 1 so I can record one show and watch another, or record 2 shows at once. Remote is small and the buttons stick I little.
What's great about it: has a/v inputs and a remote, truly plug and play (windows 7)

Works fine now (clear picture, reliable, records programmed shows etc) a year and 3/4 I have it. It gets a great picture with included antenna. It records very well in HD and integrates with windows 7 very well. Basically the only problem is cable providers use over a thousand stations while this tuner only goes up to 150. I suppose it works okay if you have a cable box tuner. For me it meant no HD (in the 700's section of the tuner dial) with basic cable. The reception, no HD, wasn't very good with the cable stations I did get too. Plus side is digital over the air transmitted TV has plenty of good HD programming. I guess they figure cable people all have cable boxes. Also you can hook up your VCR and likely record the movies, though I haven’t tried this so I don’t know if the anti record devices on many VCRs will foul these recordings up.
What's great about it: Small easy to install serves most of the purposes it was designed for.
What's not so great: Limited stations 150 on cable, not like a regular new tv's expanded into the thousand.

What's great about it: cool concept
What's not so great: it doesn't work, software is junk, remote works half the time

I bought this from Best Buy 2 weeks ago and used it as a capture device for transferring Video8 to mpg video. It worked well, minus a few glitches. When I started using the features, TV and hooking up a game console- the card failed miserably. The features are great but they don't work as intended! Using a VCR and an analog signal I had no problems. When I connected an Xbox there was a delay in the video that made playing impossible. Stick movements would show up 4 seconds later... So I contacted support. They told me to upgrade to the new version WinTV 7 1.3a because it had game mode, which removed the delay. I upgraded, enabled game mode and the card would lock up. I went to the Hauppauge forums and asked for help. MrX said he'd get me a patch for WinTV 7 so it would work. I waited and never heard from him again. Then I plugged it into the Satellite, DirectTV, and the card kept locking up. It would work for 10 to 20 seconds then freeze. I'd have to close Win TV 7, remove the 950Q, plug in the 950Q, restart Win TV 7 and again it would work for 10 to 20 seconds. But it still works with the VCR in analog! On a hunch I went back to my old software, 1.2 Win TV 7 but it still failed under the same conditions. After further investigating I found many other 950Q owners are having the same issues as me, unresolved. All of it is right there on the Hauppauge forum for anyone to see. I encourage everyone interested in this card to reconsider another option, whatever it may be because this is a lemon. The software and the card are attractive, features are fantastic too, but when the two don't work together it becomes frustrating. I wouldn't wish this type of frustration on anyone. Get something else!
Also, the "credit card remote" fits in a PC Card slot only. Not an express card slot like most all new laptops have.
What's great about it: The concept of this is awesome
