Bible Belt is a great CD for adults. I thought the music was smooth and clear. There were however, a few words on the CD that were not suitable for children. I would recommend that parents only listen to this one while the children are doing other things. Overall, I was happy with it. The songs had great lyrics, minus a few words, and it felt like it had soul.
What's great about it: Great music.
What's not so great: Some of the lyrics were not suitable for children.

I was pleasantly suprised when I heard this cd. I am more into popish, r&b music. I never thought I would love this kind of music. I had my idea of what gospel music is (thinking church music) and this was nothing what I thought it would be from soulful to popish ballads she has a wide range vocals. I just adored Valentino and Mirror Mirror. I definately recommend people to give it a chance it will suprised you
What's great about it: her voice

Diane Birch has a laid back sound that is unique among other current artists. I have especially enjoyed the tracks "Rewind" and "Mirror Mirror."

I really enjoyed the songs on Bible Belt, many of which have obvious gospel, jazz, blues, and soul influences, which is evident on such tracks as Fire Escape and Rise Up.
I found myself constantly singing along to Nothing But a Miracle, grooving along to the mellow beat of Mirror Mirror, and crooning to Photograph, a bittersweet ballad.
My favorite track is Valentino, a fun, upbeat, and whimsical song.
Many of Birch’s songs are reminiscent of tunes of the 70s, and her raspy, powerful voice is simply beautiful, reminding me of other female vocal superstars such as Joss Stone and Norah Jones.
Bible Belt is a fantastic debut CD that showcases Birch’s vocal and song-writing talent, featuring many songs that you’ll never tire of.

Wow! This is her first CD but you cannot tell. To me, she sounds like an old favorite! Diane wrote the music herself, and she writes like a pro. The music is very relatable and some of the songs are haunting. Her music stays with you for a long time, but in a good way! There are several ways to describe her music-smooth, soulful, easy listening, raw, stripped, earthy, simple, and unique. You can really feel her energy, and feel what she was thinking when she wrote her lyrics. Among other things, this CD would be perfect for a day at the beach with a good book. My favorite song is Ariel-it just stays with me! Her sound is similar to Carly Simon, but a modern version. I foresee a long and successful music career for Diane!
What's great about it: All original, quality
What's not so great: Nothing

Diane Birch sounds like an old favorite, with all the sparkle and magic of a breakthrough talent. People says she sounds like a combination of early Carole King, Linda Ronstadt and Stevie Nicks, with a little Joss Stone and Cat Power mixed in. Bible Belt is only her first record, but it’s one of the most accomplished albums you’ll hear all year. From the opening track "Fire Escape" to the closing “Magic View,” Diane’s stunning voice is mesmerizing.
Written entirely by Diane, Bible Belt was recorded in New York City and New Orleans with an impressive team of Grammy-winning producers: S-Curve Records founder Steve Greenberg, soul legend Betty Wright and Mike Mangini, in their first project together since producing Joss Stone’s first albums.
What's great about it: Soulful
What's not so great: N/A

What A Pleasant Surprise! Thumbs Up For Bible Belt

I'll admit, I was a bit skeptical at first when I got this CD. I enjoy new artists, and Diana Birch is about as new for me as they come. I'm not into gospel music so the title "Bible Belt" was a bit daunting. However, rumor had it, I'd be pleasantly surprised . . . and I was! Diane Birch has a smooth, jazzy voice which is mildly hypnotic. The lyrics are not those 'churchy churchy' ones one might expect from a gospel album. She writes from the heart about anything and everything with some religious undertones thrown in here and there. She is a great up and coming artist. I can't believe this is her first album, it sounds as though she knows her stuff! This is a great album for adults/young adults who love blues and jazz like myself!
What's great about it: smooth lyrics, soulful voice
What's not so great: nothing!

Recently, I discovered Diane Birch via her new CD Bible Belt. I found her style to be a mix of Carly Simon/Carole King/Norah Jones. She has very mellow and relaxing sound. It's a great CD to pop in when you come home from work and drink a glass of wine. I'm glad it is in my collection.
What's great about it: Great Sound
What's not so great: Nothing Loved it
