I have dropped from $60 a month ($720 a year) to $100 per year, with the added package. I can control who calls, blacklisting telemarketers, when necessary. As a result, we have much more quite days and evenings.
I highly recommend Ooma Telo to replace your hard wired phone.
What's great about it: Blacklist unwanted numbers.

As with many VOIP systems, there are some characteristics that just can't match the reliability of the old landline. Sometimes there is enough of a time delay between the two ends of the conversation that it becomes annoying. Also, I have experienced a small number of dropped calls. However, once you get over the up front costs, the almost free monthly phone bill is nice. Ooma is a valid replacement for a landline. The faster your internet connection, the better this will perform. I had less performance issues when using a cable modem versus DSL.
What's great about it: Seemless replacement of landline
What's not so great: Delays that occur during calls and some dropped calls

I was a user of Vonage and I always had problems with the system. I had to reboot it on a regular basis. It was just unreliable. Since buying Ooma, I've not had any problem. It was easy to setup. Customer Service could improve, but I am still very pleased with Ooma. I recommend it to everyone. It won't be long before it pays for itself, and after that it will be a great cost saver.
My Best Buy number: 567222617
What's great about it: Sound Quality Great
What's not so great: When the Internet is down, the phone is down

I had done some background research on OOMA prior to purchase and most reviews were quite positive. I purchased their last generation HUB and Scout package on clearance- but its functionally almost identical to the telo (current model). I have tried Vonage, Comcast Residential and Broadvoice (Current) for with mixed results -main issues choppy voice, one way audio, phantom ring (support usually passes it off as firewall issue/network congestion)-never their network as the cause. I have worked in the IP Telephony industry for over a decade so I have had experience with over 40 providers and remained skeptical that anyone could offer a high quality residential offering for a reasonable price. Ooma has radically changed my perception of what is possible-low cost service, high quality voice. Setup was a breeze (I have a very complex home office network), calls to their support were promptly answered (though not always exactly right answer out of the gates). Highly recommended. Can't wait until they come out with a business class offering for my clients.
What's great about it: Low Cost, High Quality Voice
What's not so great: No Stutter Tone for Voicemails, Requires that Hub Unit is close to your living areas.

I bought the OOMA over a month ago and just got my old phone ported. I have the device on the router and not in front of the router. This set up for me is preferred since if the OOMA goes out, the entire home network goes out. I have found no delays or problems using it this way.
The calls are clear and I have had just one network issue where the call had a slight delay-echo. This went away after a few seconds.
I also opted-in to the OOMA Premiere for a year which is an additional $120 (more or less) per year. That is the total cost to run the OOMA. I figured out that in 8 months I will have paid for the OOMA and then start saving about $40 a month on phone service.
I also went to cable network since DSL here is just plain lousy. It did feel good to get rid of our substandard phone company who really could care less about any issues you have. Not that cable is some queen of the highway.
Setup is easy and there were no real issues. There are a lot of tweaks you can do with Voicemail including linking it to Google Voice or just having the message sent to you via email. Or just letting your OOMA get it. You can also put your own answering machine on, but that makes calls NOT go to your voice mail.. at least that is what happened to me.
Check out the forums at OOMA and see what is going on. The customer service is MUCH better, too.
What's great about it: No expensive phone bill, free long distance to USA/Canada
What's not so great: Can be confusing to configure if you have limited tech knowledge.
