You don't say what kind of card you are trying to read, so this is a guess. If you insert a memory card into the computer, and the computer does not recognize it as being there, that probably means the drive cannot read the card. In my case, my drive would read SD cards, but not SDHC cards; the Dynex card reader solved the problem. You could test this by seeing if your computer will read a plain SD card. If so, then try an SDHC card. The cards are normally labeled as to which kind they are. Anything over 2 GB will be an SDHC card. 2 GB cards can be either SD or SDHC, and should be labeled; cards less than 2 GB should be plain SD.
