A:

It shuffles the clothes around and adds water as needed until its the right amount for whatever you put into it, then it begins the cycle. Perfectly normal for a high efficiency washer.

can I put a microwave oven on top of the washer and keep it there?

Q:

I got this washer about 3 weeks ago and I LOVE it! The manual says "don't put anything on top of the washer when it's running." Maybe there is a concern about stuff falling off when it's doing spin?
I had the microwave on top of the previous washer for years with no problems. I don't want to cause any problem but it seems like it is sturdy and stable. Can there be any real reason for not putting my microwave (or whatever) on top of this Samsung front loader? (and leaving it there for the long term.) I would keep a towel underneath it to prevent scratches or sliding about. Help?

I stack my dryer on top of the washer and its a-ok, so I would imagine a microwave would be fine.

a such there is no issue to put a microwave on top. but the microwave will move as the washer vibrates and moves too during the spinning process. good idea to put something in between microwave and washer. Make sure that is antislip... or the microwave will move on top of the washer.

A:

I've heard that front loading washers and dryers and prone to mold and mildew. After washing clothes, we leave the detergent tray open as well as the door on the washer so no parts stay damp. I'd say clean your washer and dryer (you can probably Google how to do that if it's not in the manual) then try leaving it open from now on.

Sounds like a mildew problem. Front loading washers are notorious for it. Look it up online for some ways to combat it. Mostly what I've seen involve cleaning both sides of the plastic seal with bleach to kill the mildew and then to leave the door open so it air dries. Keeping it dry is supposed to prevent the mildew from having a place to live.

A:

Could be a couple of reasons. There is a filter in the front of the washer that you have to clean every so often. The other reason could be you need to 'clean' the washer. For some reason these front loads can 'smell'. Multiple products on the market to do that.

Thanks for the question. If you find there's an odor in your WF42H5000AW and clean clothes don't smell as clean as they should, try running the Self Clean cycle as instructed in the User Manual. Other possible causes could be the length or position of the drain hose, or debris and standing water remaining in the filter/auxiliary drain hose area which can be accessed through the front panel on the Washer. Please refer to pages 16, 28-29, 31 and 33 of the User Manual for installation and maintenance tips for removing and preventing unpleasant odors.
